00:00:01.289 --> 00:00:03.890
First of all, I love playing the piano. I think
00:00:03.890 --> 00:00:07.389
the love for the instrument and music is definitely
00:00:07.389 --> 00:00:11.070
the foundation for all musicians. I grew up in
00:00:11.070 --> 00:00:14.529
that environment where music is part of our lives.
00:00:14.710 --> 00:00:18.870
So I think from very early on, music is so essential
00:00:18.870 --> 00:00:21.969
in my life that I don't feel like it is something
00:00:21.969 --> 00:00:25.510
different from the life itself. It is part of
00:00:25.510 --> 00:00:28.070
life. Join the new episode as Grammy -nominated
00:00:28.070 --> 00:00:30.449
pianist Han Chen shares the story behind Infinite
00:00:30.449 --> 00:00:32.750
Staircase, his journey from Juilliard, and his
00:00:32.750 --> 00:00:35.509
passion for contemporary music. I love hearing
00:00:35.509 --> 00:00:39.070
music that I don't know. And that became something
00:00:39.070 --> 00:00:42.289
really driving me when I started to study music
00:00:42.289 --> 00:00:44.950
professionally, to discover new things that I've
00:00:44.950 --> 00:00:49.250
never heard of before. For me, I like to think
00:00:49.250 --> 00:00:52.390
that I'm giving my audience an emotional right.
00:00:52.530 --> 00:00:55.490
So we are going through all different distances.
00:00:55.789 --> 00:00:58.789
emotions, and then we arrive at the final destination,
00:00:59.009 --> 00:01:01.329
and I want you to have that when you go home.
00:01:01.689 --> 00:01:04.810
The Infinite Staircase, Han Chen on Vision, Curiosity,
00:01:05.150 --> 00:01:07.230
and Building Beyond the Repertoire, premieres
00:01:07.230 --> 00:01:09.450
tonight at 8 p .m. Eastern Time on the Pianopod.
00:01:09.930 --> 00:01:10.670
See you soon.
