WEBVTT
00:00:01.777 -->
00:00:08.677Well, hello, my valued listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Living in Your Power.
00:00:09.037 -->
00:00:14.777I'm your host, Dr. Marlene Greenleaf, and we are deep into our August series,
00:00:15.597 -->
00:00:20.677The Empowered Yet, Aligning with What You Are Called to Do.
00:00:21.357 -->
00:00:28.357Now, this week's message is one that speaks directly to the heart of overachievers,
00:00:28.357 -->
00:00:31.677high-capacity men and women,
00:00:31.957 -->
00:00:37.157and anyone trying to do it all in the name of purpose.
00:00:38.257 -->
00:00:48.877Today's episode is entitled, Yes to Rest, honoring your capacity while pursuing your calling.
00:00:49.697 -->
00:00:56.757Because sometimes the most empowered yes you can offer is a pause.
00:00:59.097 -->
00:01:03.577So let's start here. Let's talk about the truth about rest.
00:01:05.517 -->
00:01:09.157Rest, my dear listeners, is not laziness.
00:01:10.577 -->
00:01:16.077Rest is not weakness. Rest is not optional.
00:01:17.077 -->
00:01:25.997Rest is restoration. It's preparation and it's obedience. And if we're really
00:01:25.997 -->
00:01:30.017honest, some of us aren't tired because we're working hard.
00:01:31.477 -->
00:01:36.717We are tired because we are carrying things we were never called to carry.
00:01:37.497 -->
00:01:45.677When you are constantly saying yes to everything, you will eventually say no to your own peace.
00:01:48.477 -->
00:01:53.577Now let me share a truth moment. there
00:01:53.577 -->
00:01:57.357was a time in my life when I felt guilty yes
00:01:57.357 -->
00:02:00.397guilty for resting even when
00:02:00.397 -->
00:02:07.857I was exhausted I would still be responding to emails 10 11 o'clock at night
00:02:07.857 -->
00:02:14.277and I'd still agree to things to do things on weekend still show up when I had
00:02:14.277 -->
00:02:19.397nothing left to give and why because somewhere Along the way,
00:02:19.657 -->
00:02:22.397I equated rest with weakness,
00:02:23.237 -->
00:02:28.637with falling behind, with being seen as less than committed.
00:02:30.277 -->
00:02:35.517But that wasn't strength. It was a burnout in disguise.
00:02:37.578 -->
00:02:46.178So what changed? Well, I gave myself permission to rest.
00:02:46.438 -->
00:02:51.058And not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally.
00:02:51.598 -->
00:02:59.078And the moment I honored my capacity, I felt God honor that obedience.
00:03:05.858 -->
00:03:09.778So how do you say yes to rest in a purpose-driven life?
00:03:12.538 -->
00:03:16.418First, recognize your limits without shame.
00:03:18.558 -->
00:03:25.118My dear listeners, you are powerful, but you are not limitless. Even Jesus rested.
00:03:26.098 -->
00:03:30.658Even he walked away from the crowd to pray and reset.
00:03:32.898 -->
00:03:36.898Next, I want you to build rhythms, not just reactions.
00:03:37.718 -->
00:03:44.498Now, don't wait until you crash. Start creating rhythms of rest before the burnout hits.
00:03:44.798 -->
00:03:49.758Sabbath, walks, naps, stillness.
00:03:50.158 -->
00:03:53.478Start creating and building these rhythms.
00:03:55.118 -->
00:03:59.578And third, trust that rest is productive.
00:04:00.538 -->
00:04:03.578Yes, rest may not produce content,
00:04:03.898 -->
00:04:10.118money, or movement, but it produces clarity, health, and longevity.
00:04:12.898 -->
00:04:17.258So I want you there listeners to take a moment right now and breathe.
00:04:17.938 -->
00:04:20.238I want you to inhale deeply.
00:04:22.058 -->
00:04:23.178Exhale slowly.
00:04:25.118 -->
00:04:32.478And ask yourself, when was the last time I rested without guilt?
00:04:35.118 -->
00:04:39.758Let your body, your mind, and your spirit answer that question honestly.
00:04:40.658 -->
00:04:45.958When was the last time you rested without guilt?
00:04:50.083 -->
00:04:57.963This week, for your Empowerment Prompt, I want you to create one intentional moment of rest.
00:04:58.683 -->
00:05:06.363Block it off like an appointment. I mean, protect it like your purpose depends on it. Because it does.
00:05:07.223 -->
00:05:14.743Rest isn't a break from your calling. It's part of the plan to sustain it.
00:05:16.543 -->
00:05:20.123So in closing I want you to remember,
00:05:21.123 -->
00:05:32.483You are not just called to do You are called to be And sometimes being means
00:05:32.483 -->
00:05:39.803slowing down long enough To let God refill what you've poured out So,
00:05:40.283 -->
00:05:44.503yes to your purpose Yes
00:05:44.503 -->
00:05:47.823to your calling But also
00:05:47.823 -->
00:05:51.963yes to your healing Yes
00:05:51.963 -->
00:05:55.423to your stillness And yes
00:05:55.423 -->
00:06:04.183to your restoration This week we'll close out the series With a final episode
00:06:04.183 -->
00:06:14.463Entitled Living the Yes Life What alignment actually looks like So until then, dear listeners,
00:06:14.983 -->
00:06:18.763I want you to continue to live boldly in your power.
00:06:19.083 -->
00:06:23.103And if it gets tough, just breathe.
00:06:24.483 -->
00:06:29.363You still have the strength to rise.
00:06:31.763 -->
00:06:36.663Continue to live in your power.
