ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Your hormones aren't broken — but if nobody's told you about the conductor running the whole show, you'll keep chasing your tail. In this episode, Dr. Tabatha and Ashlee unpack the Symphony Framework: the orchestra (your organs), the conductor (your nervous system), the sheet music (what's shaping your thoughts), and the Composer who wrote it all.
● Why the original Hormone Guide got a full overhaul — and what was missing
● The Symphony Framework: orchestra, conductor, sheet music, and Composer
● Why your internal dialogue can be a bigger stressor than a staph infection
● Why labs come back "normal" while you still feel awful
● Renewing your mind: Paul's 2,000-year-old protocol, backed by science

00:02:06.429 --> 00:02:16.349
Your internal dialogue in your brain is a bigger stressor on your health than even a staph infection in your gut.
00:02:16.509 --> 00:02:17.469
It really is.
00:02:22.669 --> 00:02:32.430
If you're tired of doing all the right things and still feeling exhausted, stuck in your body, and disconnected from God, this podcast is for you.
00:02:32.590 --> 00:02:33.150
I'm Dr.
00:02:33.229 --> 00:02:42.349
Tabitha, a triple board certified functional medicine physician, and I help women stop fighting their bodies and start healing them God's way.
00:02:42.590 --> 00:02:44.110
Let's get into it.
00:02:49.550 --> 00:02:54.189
Listen up, you've been told it's your hormones or it's your age, right?
00:02:54.269 --> 00:02:55.709
Or it's just stress.
00:02:56.030 --> 00:02:58.669
Something needs to get managed better.
00:02:58.909 --> 00:03:06.990
Today we are going to pull back the curtain on all of this and what's actually running the show because it's not what you think.
00:03:07.550 --> 00:03:08.430
It never is.
00:03:08.669 --> 00:03:10.909
No, let's dive into Fast of Fade.
00:03:11.149 --> 00:03:13.229
Let's just get right into it today.
00:03:13.389 --> 00:03:14.909
I'm so glad to be here.
00:03:14.990 --> 00:03:16.750
And you look so tan and golden.
00:03:17.709 --> 00:03:21.709
I know, you know, it's funny that you say that because this morning I was like, oh, you're getting really tan.
00:03:21.789 --> 00:03:23.870
I like to call this my baseball mom tan.
00:03:24.110 --> 00:03:26.430
Like the whole middle is very pale.
00:03:27.469 --> 00:03:29.310
It's just my legs and my arms.
00:03:29.629 --> 00:03:33.469
So my middle is peeling because we went floating down the river for the river.
00:03:33.629 --> 00:03:36.670
We did ours, and I didn't think about my tummy.
00:03:36.829 --> 00:03:37.469
Yeah.
00:03:38.110 --> 00:03:38.750
We did.
00:03:38.909 --> 00:03:43.069
That was such a magical day to just float down the river, literally.
00:03:43.310 --> 00:03:43.709
Yes.
00:03:43.870 --> 00:03:50.269
And we did it with other uh women on our team, like uh our our nutritionist couldn't make it.
00:03:50.349 --> 00:03:55.389
She had a sick baby, but one of our providers and some of our fast of faith coaches.
00:03:55.469 --> 00:03:55.870
Yep.
00:03:56.349 --> 00:04:02.909
And okay, we got there, and half of the ladies were like, I'm not gonna come, I can't show up.
00:04:03.069 --> 00:04:05.229
And yeah, they got their butts there.
00:04:05.389 --> 00:04:05.789
Yep.
00:04:06.030 --> 00:04:11.069
And then they were so glad they did, but I was kind of feeling that way too, weren't you?
00:04:11.389 --> 00:04:12.990
No, actually, I was very excited about it.
00:04:13.149 --> 00:04:18.509
I'm not gonna lie, I was pumped up from the beginning, and I was really glad that we did it.
00:04:18.670 --> 00:04:20.909
It was a much needed, unplugged day.
00:04:21.230 --> 00:04:30.829
Yeah, I think what it is is you get stuck in a rut, and like you know you have stuff on your list, your to-do list, you know you have work to do.
00:04:31.069 --> 00:04:35.870
And so this idea of losing, quote unquote, losing a whole day.
00:04:36.029 --> 00:04:38.589
What was it, a Thursday in the middle of the week?
00:04:38.829 --> 00:04:40.110
Before a holiday weekend.
00:04:40.589 --> 00:04:40.909
Yes.
00:04:41.069 --> 00:04:43.230
So it was right before the 4th of July.
00:04:43.389 --> 00:04:45.469
And I'm like, what are we doing?
00:04:45.550 --> 00:04:46.430
This is crazy.
00:04:46.509 --> 00:04:50.430
We got work to do, and it was such a beautiful gift.
00:04:50.589 --> 00:04:55.149
Thank you, Paul, our podcast producer, for setting us up.
00:04:55.389 --> 00:05:06.110
But why don't you share what happened with Shannon, one of our coaches and providers, because we were kind of uh yeah, we totally did.
00:05:06.269 --> 00:05:12.509
So Shannon, who is one of our providers, she's also a coach, and I would also say one of our dearest friends.
00:05:12.670 --> 00:05:17.870
And so she came into that day and she's kind of coming off of a busy season.
00:05:18.029 --> 00:05:20.589
Really, she's in the thick of a busy season, to be honest.
00:05:20.909 --> 00:05:23.149
And she did nothing.
00:05:24.430 --> 00:05:29.949
And so I don't know if you've ever tubed down a river, but when you're all tied together, you do have to work together.
00:05:30.269 --> 00:05:33.389
And you end up in the tree on the side, yeah.
00:05:33.629 --> 00:05:41.550
Yes, and um, Shannon knows we're sharing this, so I don't want you to think we're being mean, but she just genuinely needed the day to do nothing.
00:05:41.629 --> 00:05:45.069
Like the rest of us would be paddling and she would just be chilling.
00:05:45.310 --> 00:05:52.589
We were all trying to get out at the end, and it was kind of dangerous and sketchy, and she's just hanging out in her flooth still, everyone's pulling her end.
00:05:53.069 --> 00:05:58.509
And what happened was she went home and had two pretty massive events happen in her life.
00:05:58.829 --> 00:06:06.430
And you, and so then last Thursday when we had our team meeting, we were chatting with her, and she needed that more than anything.
00:06:06.509 --> 00:06:11.230
Like she genuinely needed to just let God hold her up down the river for four hours.
00:06:11.469 --> 00:06:12.990
And I I that's another thing.
00:06:13.149 --> 00:06:16.350
Like, well, I think we all thought it was gonna be like this quick little trip, and it wasn't.
00:06:16.509 --> 00:06:19.389
I mean, we were there for four hours and it was just magical.
00:06:19.629 --> 00:06:23.069
I I think 45 minutes went in, we were like, are we done yet?
00:06:23.229 --> 00:06:23.469
Yeah.
00:06:23.870 --> 00:06:28.430
We couldn't shut off our brains and just receive the relaxation.
00:06:28.990 --> 00:06:31.949
So much time to unplug.
00:06:32.269 --> 00:06:45.069
Yeah, like it is, it's really um, it weighs on me sometimes, especially like on the weekend when I do try to unplug, like it takes me all of Saturday to like feel reset, and then I can enjoy Sunday.
00:06:45.149 --> 00:06:49.229
But then I start to get that like crap, I've got to get back into it swing.
00:06:49.389 --> 00:06:51.069
And you're just in this weird spot.
00:06:51.149 --> 00:06:55.789
And so it's really just allowing God to hold you in his wings and just like be okay.
00:06:56.029 --> 00:07:12.430
Um, and so I Isaiah 40, 31 keeps coming up for me, and it's just a lot about like, so if you kind of study eagles, they don't flap their wings a lot, they're just super calm because they're literally letting God hold them up, and like that's what we need to do is just we have to trust.
00:07:12.509 --> 00:07:16.750
And that whole theme of like just digging deeper into trust keeps coming into play.
00:07:17.069 --> 00:07:27.149
Yeah, and I want to point out that we were given, you know, Shannon a hard time, but in a loving way, because we knew she needed it.
00:07:27.229 --> 00:07:28.669
Yeah, and it was okay.
00:07:28.829 --> 00:07:31.629
Like, we'll do extra paddling, we'll Yeah.
00:07:31.870 --> 00:07:36.109
And some of it is like jealousy that she can just like be chill like that, right?
00:07:36.269 --> 00:07:41.949
You know, like for me personally, I'm like, man, I wish I could just like let everyone else do while I just said.
00:07:42.349 --> 00:07:49.629
Yeah, I was really glad that she was able to do that because so often we're not able to just receive as women.
00:07:49.789 --> 00:07:52.509
So it was beautiful, yeah.
00:07:52.589 --> 00:07:56.909
And she can hold on to that during the season of like some stuff she's going through personally.
00:07:57.149 --> 00:07:59.789
So, but God knew it, like God already knew.
00:07:59.870 --> 00:08:01.310
Like, I think that's the coolest thing.
00:08:01.469 --> 00:08:07.389
That's what we talked about last week as a team is just like God already saw these massive things coming.
00:08:07.789 --> 00:08:12.349
What she's dealing with is not easy, and she was rested for it in a weird way.
00:08:13.149 --> 00:08:14.189
So good, yes.
00:08:14.990 --> 00:08:27.789
So, my encouragement for this week is go do something different, get out of your rut, do something that seems fun, you know, a little crazy.
00:08:27.949 --> 00:08:29.149
Yes, fun.
00:08:29.789 --> 00:08:39.389
Just be a kid, be a little girl, get out with your girlfriends and float down a river or go to the beach or do something.
00:08:39.470 --> 00:08:47.389
Like we especially we live in a gorgeous town in the summer, and it breaks my heart that I'm sit at my house most of the time.
00:08:47.470 --> 00:08:49.549
So I know it's easier when it rains, isn't it?
00:08:49.629 --> 00:08:51.310
Because you're like, oh no, I don't feel guilty.
00:08:51.549 --> 00:08:52.029
Right, right.
00:08:52.110 --> 00:08:56.430
So well, and we already have our nest our next fun adventure planned.
00:08:56.509 --> 00:08:57.310
So stay tuned.
00:08:57.389 --> 00:08:58.669
We can't wait to share that with you.
00:08:58.750 --> 00:09:01.389
So we're gonna try to do something fun once a month, right?
00:09:01.470 --> 00:09:02.110
We can do this.
00:09:02.269 --> 00:09:04.269
Yes, I thought that was so awesome.
00:09:04.430 --> 00:09:10.269
Like we were about to be done floating, and we decided let's put something on the books.
00:09:10.350 --> 00:09:13.950
Because if you don't plan it, ladies, it's not going to happen.
00:09:14.110 --> 00:09:15.470
You have to make it a priority.
00:09:15.629 --> 00:09:17.389
You don't put it on your schedule.
00:09:17.549 --> 00:09:22.750
And so I was really proud of us for doing that because otherwise we're just gonna work ourselves to death.
00:09:22.909 --> 00:09:23.789
Yes, exactly.
00:09:23.950 --> 00:09:37.389
All right, so today we have been so for a long time, you were known as the gutsy gynecologist, and you were known for your medical practice, and then you s you transitioned into something totally different.
00:09:37.549 --> 00:09:42.269
And I can't I don't even know how long have you been giving out your original hormone guide?
00:09:42.350 --> 00:09:42.669
Do you know?
00:09:42.909 --> 00:09:45.389
I feel like it was your first thing, was it?
00:09:45.629 --> 00:09:46.909
Yeah, like years ago.
00:09:47.070 --> 00:09:56.750
I mean, we've updated it and adjusted it, but you know like a twinge, a twinge, a twinge probably six years, probably, yeah.
00:09:56.909 --> 00:10:01.470
So the hormone guide uh a couple weeks ago, you were like, we gotta change this thing.
00:10:01.629 --> 00:10:07.470
It got an overhaul, and then ladies, I would just like, you know, it got another overhaul in very Dr.
00:10:07.710 --> 00:10:08.830
Tabitha fashion.
00:10:08.990 --> 00:10:12.909
It was ready to roll out, and she was like, Oh no, never mind, let's pivot.
00:10:13.149 --> 00:10:15.629
Okay, so can I explain this dad for a minute?
00:10:15.870 --> 00:10:32.269
You oh she always says he just starts downloading stuff to me, and I was so excited about how he revealed this analogy to me because I think the um the description is getting a little stale.
00:10:32.350 --> 00:10:35.629
People are like, okay, I understand it's not just my hormones.
00:10:35.789 --> 00:10:41.629
I understand there's more to the picture, but I don't really understand.
00:10:41.789 --> 00:10:42.029
Yeah.
00:10:42.189 --> 00:10:51.870
You know, like we say, okay, it's your gut and it's your immune system and all the things, and people are like, okay, I guess, but I I still want my hormones balanced.
00:10:52.029 --> 00:10:54.990
And so they're not really getting this bigger picture.
00:10:55.069 --> 00:11:01.870
And I've been praying to God, like, help women understand the symphony that is happening inside of their body.
00:11:02.110 --> 00:11:14.909
Yes, you might need some estrogen replacement or some testosterone or progesterone, but it's only gonna help for a few weeks or even a couple months, and then you're going to struggle again.
00:11:15.069 --> 00:11:17.789
And I always say it's like a dog chasing his tail.
00:11:17.949 --> 00:11:21.149
You you start to like think you're crazy, right?
00:11:21.309 --> 00:11:25.549
Because you're like, man, I was sleeping good for a couple weeks and now I'm feeling like crap again.
00:11:25.710 --> 00:11:30.750
And so I was like, God, help me explain this in a way that women really get.
00:11:31.069 --> 00:11:32.669
And he downloaded everything.
00:11:32.829 --> 00:11:34.110
I gave it to my team.
00:11:34.269 --> 00:11:35.949
I was like, let's make this.
00:11:36.029 --> 00:11:38.269
It's so good, let's give it to the world.
00:11:38.509 --> 00:11:41.789
And then I was like, something is missing.
00:11:41.949 --> 00:11:43.309
What is missing, God?
00:11:43.470 --> 00:11:44.909
And he was like, Me?
00:11:45.629 --> 00:11:47.870
Oh, okay.
00:11:48.110 --> 00:11:53.470
And so I had to go back and add in the composer piece.
00:11:53.629 --> 00:12:01.710
So we're gonna talk about the orchestra, yeah, the sheet music, the conductor, and most importantly, the composer.
00:12:01.870 --> 00:12:02.829
Where do you want to start?
00:12:03.149 --> 00:12:10.189
Yeah, I um I think we should start where you just kept saying it's not your hormones, it's the conductor.
00:12:10.269 --> 00:12:12.189
So why don't you just break that down for us?
00:12:12.509 --> 00:12:25.710
Yeah, since the beginning of the year, you and I have been like super interested in the nervous system and how it really controls all the organs in our body and what they're doing.
00:12:25.870 --> 00:12:30.509
So we have an endocrine system, which is what makes our hormones.
00:12:30.669 --> 00:12:38.029
That's what the endocrine system is, and it's directed by two organs in the brain, the hypothalamus and the pituitary.
00:12:38.110 --> 00:12:39.789
There's other organs involved.
00:12:40.029 --> 00:12:57.309
Those are the two main ones talking to the organs that produce our hormones, our adrenal glands, which make our stress hormones, our ovaries, which make our sex hormones, our thyroid makes our thyroid hormones, our pancreas makes insulin, our fat storage hormone, and blood sugar utilization hormone.
00:12:57.789 --> 00:13:06.909
And so there's this conversation happening back and forth between these organs and our brain, and it's bi-directional, it's it's two ways.
00:13:07.309 --> 00:13:13.470
And here's what a lot of women don't understand there's interconnections in this communication.
00:13:13.629 --> 00:13:22.029
So your thyroid and brain, when they talk, your ovaries listen, your adrenals listen, and they get involved in the conversation.
00:13:22.110 --> 00:13:31.789
And you know, when you have multiple women in a conversation, it can get loud, it can get crazy, it can veer off some tangent in the wrong direction.
00:13:31.949 --> 00:13:35.870
And that's literally what's happening with these hormones.
00:13:35.949 --> 00:13:41.230
And so who's in charge of this conversation is the conductor.
00:13:41.309 --> 00:14:14.269
And the conductor, you know, I've thought a lot about this because my son has sang in choir and I've watched band performances now for like five or six years, and I'm always so interested in the conductor because they look like they're just wild and out of control, but they're doing a really important job of like keeping the tempo where it's supposed to be, and then bringing in the percussion, and then like slowing things down and bringing in the quiet violins.
00:14:14.429 --> 00:14:19.710
And so it's really interesting to watch that dynamic happen.
00:14:19.789 --> 00:14:24.350
And God was like, that conductor, that's your nervous system.
00:14:24.509 --> 00:14:30.669
Your nervous system is telling the flutes when to come in and be beautiful and soft and quiet.
00:14:30.909 --> 00:14:40.110
And then when the you know, the brass is supposed to come in and bang the cymbals, that's like to me, that's cortisol, like bang, let's get some done, or adrenaline.
00:14:40.669 --> 00:14:49.149
And then you have this background of um the wood section, they're just like humming along, giving that foundation.
00:14:49.309 --> 00:15:12.029
And to me, that is so much like you know, our hormones, they're humming around in the background, they're responsible for a lot of the foundational things we're hearing and feeling, but they don't have the nuances necessarily of the quiet flutes, of the big percussions, those different things.
00:15:12.189 --> 00:15:18.429
And then, you know me, I need to ask, where does the gut microbiome fit into all of this?
00:15:19.069 --> 00:15:22.350
And that is really a nuanced piece of it.
00:15:22.509 --> 00:15:43.470
So if you can start to imagine watching this orchestra, watching this symphony being directed by the conductor, then you start to understand wait, the immune system is in this orchestra, the thyroid is in this orchestra, the adrenals, and they're all paying attention to the nervous system.
00:15:43.629 --> 00:15:50.269
And so that has been our message for at least six months now is you have to regulate this nervous system.
00:15:50.350 --> 00:16:02.189
You got to get this conductor under control and reading the sheet music and expressing the right um information to the orchestra.
00:16:02.429 --> 00:16:11.949
And I always think, like, okay, what's the difference between the Philharmonic and the sixth grade band I just watched for three hours in the auditorium?
00:16:12.110 --> 00:16:14.269
Oh my goodness, we've all been there, right?
00:16:14.350 --> 00:16:15.389
Yeah, it's painful.
00:16:15.629 --> 00:16:29.470
It is painful because they're not in sync, they're all kind of like on their own time and they're a little bit off and they're squeaking and they're trying their best, but it's just not a well-oiled machine yet, like the Philharmonic.
00:16:29.549 --> 00:16:34.990
And so yet, because the Philharmonic at one point was the sixth grade orchestra.
00:16:35.309 --> 00:16:36.509
Yes, exactly.
00:16:36.750 --> 00:16:40.829
And so I I started just talking to God about that.
00:16:40.990 --> 00:16:43.470
Like, explain that to me.
00:16:43.710 --> 00:16:45.149
How do we get better?
00:16:45.309 --> 00:16:54.110
How and what does that practice look like of getting our body in harmony, symphon symphony, you know, together?
00:16:54.350 --> 00:16:58.110
And he's like, it's about regulating that nervous system.
00:16:58.269 --> 00:17:01.149
And I said, Okay, well, you know me, I'm always asking why.
00:17:01.309 --> 00:17:03.549
But how do you regulate the nervous system?
00:17:03.710 --> 00:17:04.829
What does that look like?
00:17:04.990 --> 00:17:12.430
And he really revealed that the nervous system that conductor is reading sheet music.
00:17:12.590 --> 00:17:14.910
That is where the direction is coming from.
00:17:15.069 --> 00:17:15.390
Okay.
00:17:15.789 --> 00:17:17.950
So who writes the sheet music?
00:17:18.829 --> 00:17:23.549
Here's the the hard part of the world most of the time.
00:17:23.870 --> 00:17:25.870
I'm gonna say the conductor is under the most pressure.
00:17:26.430 --> 00:17:28.110
Yes, it's under the most pressure.
00:17:28.190 --> 00:17:37.789
And unfortunately, if you give it bad sheet music, bad um direction, it's going to relay that to the orchestra.
00:17:38.029 --> 00:17:46.509
And so the song that they're playing, the music that they're playing is coming from oftentimes the world.
00:17:46.829 --> 00:17:51.470
The fear, the anxiety, the not enoughness, the scarcity.
00:17:52.110 --> 00:17:56.990
And so we actually have community, what you're listening to, all of that.
00:17:57.309 --> 00:18:06.910
It all goes on the sheet music, and then the conductor relays it to all the organs in your body, and so we have to continue to go upstream, upstream, upstream.
00:18:07.470 --> 00:18:08.990
Who's writing the sheet music?
00:18:09.150 --> 00:18:31.710
And that is the foundation of Fast of Faith, is we need to rewrite the sheet music with the word of God, with the songs of God, with the music of God, and that comes by knowing the word, by digging up the old music by the roots, throwing it away, getting rid of it so that the conductor can never read that sheet music again, right?
00:18:31.870 --> 00:18:32.190
Yeah.
00:18:32.350 --> 00:18:33.230
Are you feeling this?
00:18:33.390 --> 00:18:34.350
Are you relating to this?
00:18:34.590 --> 00:18:40.670
Yeah, I mean, I what I was thinking is you're gonna have that old music and you're that those things.
00:18:40.829 --> 00:18:54.350
I feel like the same kind of um thing keeps coming up for us about how like your the past is gonna continue to come back, but you're gonna have to basically keep that cheap music out of your system, and that's hard to do.
00:18:54.590 --> 00:18:57.150
Yeah, so we have to rewrite it essentially.
00:18:57.470 --> 00:19:15.150
So I envision, you know, some songs that they were okay, but they weren't harmonizing the entire orchestra, they were highlighting one area or one area didn't learn it well enough, and so it just didn't sound right as well.
00:19:15.309 --> 00:19:17.710
Or it served you for that season, amen.
00:19:17.869 --> 00:19:18.190
Yeah.
00:19:18.349 --> 00:19:25.710
So we need to just rewrite, revamp, rework those that music with God's input.
00:19:25.869 --> 00:19:30.910
Like put God in there and ask Him, how does this song sound better?
00:19:31.069 --> 00:19:33.069
What do I need to focus on?
00:19:33.230 --> 00:19:35.710
What instruments need some more attention?
00:19:35.869 --> 00:19:38.190
What instruments need to be brought in here?
00:19:38.349 --> 00:19:45.549
And so that's like, okay, we need to work on the gut, we need to support our immune system with some raishi mushrooms or something.
00:19:45.950 --> 00:19:57.309
Like we need some hormone replacement therapy, and you just like get it symphonized and harmonized so that they're all playing well together.
00:19:57.549 --> 00:20:16.190
I think this also kind of brings us to another point that we've been talking about recently is you're gonna have to practice this and continue to practice and make changes and tweaks because it's what you're doing today, and you might feel the best that you felt in 25 years, but that something's gonna come along and you're gonna have to change again.
00:20:16.349 --> 00:20:21.150
And so you have to keep practicing, and that's why orchestras practice so much.
00:20:21.389 --> 00:20:22.670
They're non-stop.
00:20:23.309 --> 00:20:28.269
So when you have when you meet with women, what are which area are they struggling with the most?
00:20:29.710 --> 00:20:44.670
They think it's their hormones, they think they're struggling with the hormones the most, and that's an obvious easy correction or you know, thing to tackle, but that's almost never the root cause reason.
00:20:44.829 --> 00:20:55.710
Unless you are 51, 52 years old and your ovaries are closing up shop for the first time and and everything else is fine, then it's just hormones.
00:20:55.869 --> 00:20:57.389
But I almost never see that.
00:20:57.549 --> 00:20:58.589
Yeah, it's real rare.
00:20:59.069 --> 00:20:59.950
Truthfully, yeah.
00:21:00.109 --> 00:21:03.230
Like they are just one of many issues.
00:21:03.389 --> 00:21:15.150
And so what we have seen, and something I've been describing more and more, is an internal stressor that is preventing the symphony from sounding good.
00:21:15.389 --> 00:21:21.389
And I used to just focus on internal stressors like Epstein Barr virus, uh, H.
00:21:21.549 --> 00:21:26.109
pylori gut infections, parasites, things like that.
00:21:26.269 --> 00:21:38.829
And what I've come to understand is your internal dialogue in your brain is a bigger stressor on your health than even a staph infection in your gut.
00:21:38.910 --> 00:21:43.869
It really is, because that staph infection can be easily identified with a stool test.
00:21:44.190 --> 00:21:49.549
We can give you a couple months of a treatment protocol and it's gone.
00:21:49.869 --> 00:21:58.349
Whereas this internal dialogue creating stress is so pervasive and so hard to recognize at first.
00:21:58.670 --> 00:22:11.470
And there's so much shame and guilt around even like trying to dig up things that you believe about yourself and where does it come from that women don't even want to go there.
00:22:11.629 --> 00:22:14.190
They're like, Oh, that's trauma related.
00:22:14.349 --> 00:22:19.629
Oh, we don't talk about that, or I'm fine, I I can handle it.
00:22:19.789 --> 00:22:22.109
And so they don't even think it's a problem.
00:22:22.269 --> 00:22:32.670
Meanwhile, it is literally writing the sheet music and driving the conductor to make this horrible music all day long.
00:22:33.069 --> 00:22:39.629
And so that piece is really what has to be tackled is this internal dialogue stress.
00:22:40.029 --> 00:22:43.230
Which when they tackle that, things get worse before they get better.
00:22:43.389 --> 00:22:48.509
And that's what's really hard for women to understand is like, oh, I'm not feeling better instantly.
00:22:48.750 --> 00:22:52.109
Like, no, you're gonna have to do the hard work and it's gonna suck.
00:22:52.509 --> 00:22:53.710
Yeah, exactly.
00:22:53.869 --> 00:23:04.509
I know you we had someone uh a dear friend and patient give us the book, The Lie I Didn't Know I Believe by Jenny Allen.
00:23:04.589 --> 00:23:05.789
That was really helpful.
00:23:06.029 --> 00:23:17.069
I was also doing a lot of internal work in Novos with Taylor Welsh and different things like that, and so these lies really became apparent.
00:23:17.309 --> 00:23:24.190
And I I would argue you don't have to go back and relive all the trauma and the drama.
00:23:24.589 --> 00:23:24.829
No.
00:23:25.069 --> 00:23:41.789
Um what you need to do is just take stock of what's driving your current decisions and like what are you believing about yourself that's causing you to reach for that food, to stay addicted to sugar, to not go to the gym.
00:23:42.029 --> 00:23:57.309
And if you can really unpack those lies and just expose them to the light, then you can start to heal and you can start to rewrite your sheet music with the truth of what God says, which is you know the foundation of fast of faith.
00:23:57.470 --> 00:24:01.549
That's all we do in the 40 day program is like renew your mind.
00:24:02.109 --> 00:24:06.029
And I think that I know that's why we're seeing the transformations that.
00:24:06.430 --> 00:24:14.430
That I've never seen just with functional medicine and just with hormone replacement and just focusing on the physical.
00:24:15.150 --> 00:24:15.470
Yeah.
00:24:16.029 --> 00:24:24.990
I I really liked what Jenny had said in the book about her, because a lot of her lies started from an incident that she had with her dad as a child.
00:24:25.150 --> 00:24:27.629
And it was just something that he said.
00:24:27.789 --> 00:24:32.349
It wasn't even really anything that bad, but it has impacted her for the rest of her life.
00:24:32.509 --> 00:24:35.710
And she was like, I'm not my parents were wonderful.
00:24:36.029 --> 00:24:38.509
But this one moment shaped everything.
00:24:38.589 --> 00:24:42.829
And so she was like, obviously, now I've talked to my dad about it and we fixed it, and he feels terrible.
00:24:43.069 --> 00:24:46.589
But he was learning to be a parent as just as I was learning to grow up.
00:24:46.750 --> 00:24:53.789
And that's so impactful because sometimes we don't want to pinpoint the issue because we don't want to make anyone feel bad, but that's not what this is about.
00:24:53.950 --> 00:24:56.829
Like, you want to ri live the rest of your life feeling good.
00:24:56.990 --> 00:25:02.750
So sometimes you have to pinpoint that one thing that really made a change, and that's exactly what Jenny's book did.
00:25:03.069 --> 00:25:04.910
So I highly recommend that book to you.
00:25:05.470 --> 00:25:07.389
So powerful, so powerful.
00:25:08.029 --> 00:25:08.349
Yeah.
00:25:08.509 --> 00:25:17.629
Um, okay, so a lot of women feel like they get their labs done and they come back and they're normal, um, but they're actually feeling awful.
00:25:17.710 --> 00:25:19.389
What's actually happening during that time?
00:25:20.190 --> 00:25:33.069
Yeah, so I think that women are led to believe that there's one answer to their problems, that we just gotta find the one problem and we can fix it.
00:25:33.389 --> 00:25:41.950
You know, it's a very simple way of looking at what is the most complex, intricate system ever, our bodies.
00:25:42.430 --> 00:25:46.589
And so you there isn't one lab for you to fix.
00:25:47.069 --> 00:25:50.509
It is a symphony, it has to be in harmony.
00:25:50.750 --> 00:26:03.789
So I try to explain to women your lab result needs to be interpreted with all the other lab results of how everything else is fitting together and working together.
00:26:04.109 --> 00:26:18.670
Because a TSH of 0.5 might feel horrible to one woman because her cortisol level over here is sky high and her estrogen is absent.
00:26:18.829 --> 00:26:32.589
A TSH of 1.5 might feel amazing to a woman because her estrogen is on par and she doesn't have, you know, elevated inflammation marker, and her cortisol level is exactly where it's supposed to be.
00:26:32.910 --> 00:26:37.710
So we have to stop treating labs, we have to treat the patient.
00:26:37.789 --> 00:26:42.430
Yeah, you are a unique individual with a unique circumstance.
00:26:42.589 --> 00:26:52.589
That's why I love functional medicine, because we get to know your history, your story of how you arrived here and all of the factors at play.
00:26:52.910 --> 00:27:01.230
So let's look at the entire orchestra, let let's really unpack it and then let's not treat the labs, let's treat the patient.
00:27:01.869 --> 00:27:03.150
Yeah, that's super good.
00:27:03.549 --> 00:27:09.470
And um, sometimes what you can handle as a patient and what I can handle as a patient are two different things.
00:27:09.549 --> 00:27:15.069
So your labs might be uh the same as mine, but maybe I'm feeling optimal and you're feeling like crap.
00:27:15.389 --> 00:27:17.230
So it every person is so different.
00:27:17.789 --> 00:27:18.430
Exactly.
00:27:18.589 --> 00:27:23.789
You comparison kills, that is the quickest way, especially for women.
00:27:24.029 --> 00:27:29.150
If you want to spiral down and be miserable, start comparing yourself to everybody.
00:27:29.309 --> 00:27:35.069
That is why social media can be so toxic and dangerous because you start comparing yourself.
00:27:35.309 --> 00:27:49.150
And I was sharing this in our Monday Fast of Faith call just this week about how quickly you go shopping on a busy day and there's a hundred people in the dressing line.
00:27:49.389 --> 00:27:50.910
You start comparing yourself.
00:27:51.069 --> 00:27:52.430
Should I even be trying that on?
00:27:52.509 --> 00:27:53.710
What am I doing buying this?
00:27:53.869 --> 00:27:54.670
Blah, blah, blah.
00:27:54.829 --> 00:27:56.589
And you spiral down.
00:27:56.829 --> 00:28:00.349
And so you have to run your own race.
00:28:00.670 --> 00:28:02.589
God gives us our own races.
00:28:02.750 --> 00:28:07.470
We got to put our little horse blinders on the side so we're not comparing.
00:28:07.629 --> 00:28:22.430
That's where you and it's hard because I encourage women to share their stories with each other and learn from each other, but there's a difference between that and comparing yourself and your situation to another woman.
00:28:22.670 --> 00:28:23.069
Exactly.
00:28:23.789 --> 00:28:29.470
Okay, so Paul wrote Renew Your Mind, 2,000 years before we had an MRI machine.
00:28:29.629 --> 00:28:31.230
So why don't you talk about that a little bit?
00:28:31.710 --> 00:28:32.349
Yeah.
00:28:34.509 --> 00:28:36.509
I'm working on an amazing project.
00:28:36.750 --> 00:28:47.710
I'm not gonna say too much, but what I will say is science is now proving everything that the Bible told us 3,000 years ago, 2,000 years ago.
00:28:47.950 --> 00:28:57.950
And so what Paul is talking about is an actual protocol of like this is how you're supposed to live.
00:28:58.109 --> 00:29:01.230
It's not just well wishes or hopeful thinking.
00:29:01.470 --> 00:29:10.990
It is, no, you need to take authority over your mind, you need to renew your mind, and that is a daily practice, like you mentioned.
00:29:11.069 --> 00:29:23.470
It's a practice that our mind and our thoughts and our beliefs, they're muscles that can be built up and strengthened, or they can die off if we ignore them.
00:29:23.629 --> 00:29:32.829
I I was thinking the other day about how the grandfather was telling the story to the little boy about the two wolves that live inside of your brain.
00:29:32.990 --> 00:29:42.829
There's um a strong wolf who um is faithful, and then there is a fear-based wolf who wants to kill everybody.
00:29:43.069 --> 00:29:47.230
And the little boy says, Well, which one wins?
00:29:47.869 --> 00:29:50.829
And the grandpa says, The one that you feed.
00:29:50.990 --> 00:29:54.109
And so are you feeding fear or are you feeding faith?
00:29:54.509 --> 00:29:56.190
And that's what it comes down to.
00:29:56.269 --> 00:30:07.549
It is a daily practice of nourishing your faith and believing that what you uh envision is going to happen in the earthly realm.
00:30:07.710 --> 00:30:26.430
So if you want to lose weight, if you want to reverse your Hashimoto's, if you want to get control of your gut health, if you want to feel balanced and have amazing energy, you have to start living like that is the case right now.
00:30:27.309 --> 00:30:27.549
Right?
00:30:28.029 --> 00:30:28.430
Yes.
00:30:28.670 --> 00:30:34.750
Okay, so let's talk about peace because Jesus never promised a life without storms.
00:30:34.829 --> 00:30:37.309
And I want to read something and then I'm gonna have you talk about it.
00:30:37.470 --> 00:30:48.029
So true peace isn't the absence of stress, it's the presence of confidence, hope, and trust that steadies the conductor, even when the music around you is chaos.
00:30:48.750 --> 00:30:49.069
Yeah.
00:30:49.950 --> 00:30:54.430
I love envisioning Jesus sleeping on the boat with his pillow.
00:30:54.750 --> 00:31:05.629
Some versions say he's got his cushion, but like he was not freaking out, like he was at peace in the storm, and that is how he's calling us to live.
00:31:05.869 --> 00:31:08.829
And unfortunately, we're panicking.
00:31:09.069 --> 00:31:10.190
Well, it is hard.
00:31:10.509 --> 00:31:12.430
It is easier to panic, actually.
00:31:12.670 --> 00:31:18.029
Um, I read something the other day about it's easier to perform for God than it is to sit with God.
00:31:18.509 --> 00:31:21.069
And like that that hit me hard because it is.
00:31:21.150 --> 00:31:23.230
It's hard to sometimes just sit and listen.
00:31:24.109 --> 00:31:25.150
That's just hard.
00:31:25.710 --> 00:31:35.389
That's why that word abide is so powerful, because it means to like get still and to just trust.
00:31:35.950 --> 00:31:37.950
We've been hearing that a lot in the group.
00:31:38.269 --> 00:31:40.190
Oh, the trust keeps coming back.
00:31:40.349 --> 00:31:41.869
I just need to trust God.
00:31:42.109 --> 00:31:46.269
And it's like we lay it down at his feet and then we pick it right back up.
00:31:46.430 --> 00:31:47.789
We lay it down and we pick it up.
00:31:47.950 --> 00:32:00.109
And it's like if we were actually yoked, if we were like connected to him with the device that we put around the oxen, then we would stay with him.
00:32:00.589 --> 00:32:05.069
But we don't like lock down, we don't lock into the device and get yoked.
00:32:05.309 --> 00:32:07.470
We're like, yeah, we're thinking about it.
00:32:07.549 --> 00:32:10.190
I put my head in for a minute and then I pull it back out.
00:32:10.349 --> 00:32:14.589
No, you need to surrender, you need to commit, you need to abide.
00:32:15.069 --> 00:32:18.190
So I know somebody needed to hear that today.
00:32:18.430 --> 00:32:22.589
And it looks a little bit different for each person, whatever that means.
00:32:22.670 --> 00:32:31.710
But I will tell you, for me, it meant being obedient to the smallest things he was telling me to do.
00:32:31.869 --> 00:32:34.029
You know, Joyce Meyer, she's hilarious.
00:32:34.109 --> 00:32:40.990
She's always like, God told me to put that shopping cart back where it belonged for like four years.
00:32:41.150 --> 00:32:45.950
It took me four years to finally walk the shopping cart over to the little carousel.
00:32:46.029 --> 00:32:48.430
And when I did that, everything shifted.
00:32:48.509 --> 00:32:58.670
And I was like, I relate to that so much because God will tell me, like, you feel like you don't have a lot to give, you only have$200 in the charity account, give it.
00:32:58.750 --> 00:33:01.069
And I'm like, no, it's not enough.
00:33:01.470 --> 00:33:08.670
And when I fight back and I'm not obedient in those little moments, it's like the trust is broken.
00:33:08.829 --> 00:33:11.869
And it's not the trust on his end, it's the trust on my end.
00:33:12.109 --> 00:33:13.069
I stopped believing.
00:33:13.230 --> 00:33:15.710
I stopped believing in myself and trusting myself.
00:33:15.869 --> 00:33:18.430
Therefore, I don't trust him.
00:33:19.309 --> 00:33:19.710
Right?
00:33:19.950 --> 00:33:21.470
Yeah, super hard.
00:33:21.629 --> 00:33:30.509
Um, I think we should take a quick pause because everything you kind of we've been talking about comes back to hormones and following that conductor's lead.
00:33:30.670 --> 00:33:33.069
And that's exactly why you created hormone tame.
00:33:33.150 --> 00:33:36.509
So the um, because it's built to support healthy hormone balance.
00:33:36.670 --> 00:33:38.829
So let's learn a little bit more about hormone tame.
00:33:40.109 --> 00:33:45.230
Real quick, I just want to interrupt this conversation for something super important.
00:33:46.190 --> 00:33:56.430
Even though we need to take care of ourselves spiritually, emotionally, and physically, we do have to take care of ourselves at a cellular level.
00:33:56.670 --> 00:33:59.950
And that is why I have my Fast to Face supplement line.
00:34:00.029 --> 00:34:08.110
So let's just take a minute to hear about something that might be the game changer that you need in this season.
00:34:08.670 --> 00:34:12.750
We really need to up level how we're taking care of our temple.
00:34:12.910 --> 00:34:16.990
I used to treat mine like a garbage can, I will just be honest.
00:34:17.309 --> 00:34:19.869
And I'm not okay with that anymore.
00:34:20.110 --> 00:34:35.789
So this is one of the most important things to me is that I'm taking high-quality supplements that are actually doing what they say they're doing, and I'm getting my money's worth, and I'm not making my body worse by putting the wrong stuff in it.
00:34:35.950 --> 00:34:45.470
So let's talk about Hormone Tame Essential Multivitamin, because even though it gives you all the vitamins and minerals you need, there's extra goodness in there, isn't there?
00:34:45.550 --> 00:34:47.630
I think you have a bottle sitting next to you.
00:34:48.190 --> 00:34:49.630
Tell us about Hormone Tame.
00:34:49.869 --> 00:34:52.190
Hormone Tame is five products in one.
00:34:52.349 --> 00:35:01.070
Um, if you listen to the the other episode, one of the things that we talked about is oftentimes, you know, women are just people were taking a lot of supplements.
00:35:01.389 --> 00:35:13.230
And the nice thing about a lot of the um supplements that we have here at Fast of Faith is that they're they're just so consolidated, or you could take this and you are basically taking five products.
00:35:13.470 --> 00:35:16.829
So, yes, this is gonna be a multivitamin, but there is so much more.
00:35:16.910 --> 00:35:20.670
We actually kind of refer to it as a multivitamin on um steroids.
00:35:20.910 --> 00:35:24.590
One of the key things that this is gonna be helping is your mitochondria.
00:35:24.990 --> 00:35:31.789
All you need to know is that they are responsible for so many systems and processes in your body.
00:35:31.950 --> 00:35:38.510
The reason that we need supplements is because we're just supplementing areas that we just can't really kind of get with our food.
00:35:38.590 --> 00:35:40.269
So we're filling in those gaps.
00:35:40.430 --> 00:35:45.869
And so hormone tame is inviting the body to just fill in all of those gaps.
00:35:46.030 --> 00:35:47.309
So you gotta fill those gaps.
00:35:47.389 --> 00:35:50.030
And hormone tame it will help to do that.
00:35:51.550 --> 00:35:53.309
All right, so we're gonna do some rap.
00:35:53.470 --> 00:35:54.510
I'm gonna rapid fire.
00:35:54.590 --> 00:35:55.150
Are you ready?
00:35:55.309 --> 00:35:59.070
Let's go! All right, one word for a dysregulated nervous system.
00:36:03.950 --> 00:36:04.510
Think about it.
00:36:04.590 --> 00:36:05.389
It's chaos.
00:36:05.550 --> 00:36:07.070
We got the conductor going.
00:36:07.630 --> 00:36:09.550
It's loud, it is so loud.
00:36:09.710 --> 00:36:10.430
It is loud.
00:36:10.590 --> 00:36:12.670
So we need to learn how to get quiet.
00:36:12.910 --> 00:36:16.509
All right, so what is one food that feeds the orchestra?
00:36:17.389 --> 00:36:18.750
Healthy fats.
00:36:19.070 --> 00:36:20.349
Yes, very good.
00:36:20.509 --> 00:36:23.630
One non-negotiable for calming the conductor.
00:36:25.070 --> 00:36:28.030
Getting in the sun before your phone in the morning.
00:36:28.269 --> 00:36:29.630
Girl, that is hard.
00:36:29.869 --> 00:36:30.429
I know.
00:36:30.829 --> 00:36:32.349
Get a dog, it helps.
00:36:32.590 --> 00:36:35.550
Yeah, but it's still even though you still pick up your phone, though, you know?
00:36:35.789 --> 00:36:36.030
I know.
00:36:36.269 --> 00:36:36.750
Uh, all right.
00:36:36.909 --> 00:36:39.550
One myth you want women to drop today.
00:36:39.869 --> 00:36:42.590
My hormones are broken, my body's broken.
00:36:42.829 --> 00:36:43.309
Yes.
00:36:43.630 --> 00:36:44.909
Get rid of that, girls.
00:36:45.070 --> 00:36:46.909
One verse to carry out of this episode.
00:36:47.070 --> 00:36:49.230
What are you landing with today?
00:36:49.469 --> 00:36:52.909
Mmm, Isaiah 55, 8 and 9.
00:36:52.989 --> 00:36:58.190
Let me actually read it because, ladies, I want you to meditate on this all week.
00:36:58.509 --> 00:36:59.710
This is for you.
00:36:59.949 --> 00:37:02.909
It's heavy, you'll want to meditate all week.
00:37:03.230 --> 00:37:06.509
But it it's so good when you finally understand.
00:37:06.590 --> 00:37:06.750
Yeah.
00:37:08.269 --> 00:37:12.590
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, declares the Lord.
00:37:12.829 --> 00:37:16.030
Neither are your ways my ways.
00:37:16.349 --> 00:37:24.429
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
00:37:24.670 --> 00:37:28.670
So, ladies, rewrite your sheet music this week.
00:37:28.909 --> 00:37:36.190
Ask God what he says about your body, what he says about the orchestra that sounds like a hot mess right now.
00:37:36.750 --> 00:37:42.829
Ask him to give you some truth that you can replace those lies with.
00:37:43.070 --> 00:37:48.989
And if you want more help on this, this is what we do as a group in Fast to Faith.
00:37:49.150 --> 00:37:50.509
We are here for you.
00:37:50.750 --> 00:38:01.630
We want to help you identify the lies, break up with them, replace them with truth, and do it in a way that we do not live in shame or guilt.
00:38:01.789 --> 00:38:05.070
We don't live in those low frequency places.
00:38:05.550 --> 00:38:10.590
We live up here with peace, joy, love, contentment.
00:38:10.750 --> 00:38:13.150
It is a different way to live.
00:38:13.309 --> 00:38:18.590
And until you even experience it, it's going to be hard for you to fathom.
00:38:18.750 --> 00:38:22.269
So join us, get a taste of Fast of Faith.
00:38:22.429 --> 00:38:24.190
It's so powerful.
00:38:24.989 --> 00:38:27.469
You'll regret that you didn't do it sooner.
00:38:27.630 --> 00:38:27.789
Yeah.
00:38:27.869 --> 00:38:30.509
And this beautiful nude hormone guide will be in the show notes.
00:38:30.590 --> 00:38:32.190
So I highly recommend you sign up.
00:38:32.349 --> 00:38:35.710
Even if you've had her original one, this one is so different.
00:38:35.789 --> 00:38:38.670
And it has way more information than what we're giving out today.
00:38:38.750 --> 00:38:40.429
So I highly recommend you grab it.
00:38:40.509 --> 00:38:42.509
Yay! Have a good week, ladies.
00:38:47.789 --> 00:38:52.269
If you like that episode, I have one favor to ask, maybe two.
00:38:52.670 --> 00:38:56.429
Can you hit subscribe and give me a heart?
00:38:56.590 --> 00:39:04.190
I want Apple to know that this is important information to you because when we tell them that, you will get more of it.
00:39:04.349 --> 00:39:06.030
So use your voice.
00:39:06.190 --> 00:39:11.070
Hit subscribe, hit the like button, share with a friend.
00:39:11.309 --> 00:39:16.670
And the other thing, I want you to download the five day challenge and get started on it.
00:39:16.829 --> 00:39:18.429
Take imperfect action.
00:39:18.509 --> 00:39:20.750
I will see you in the Fast of Faith Sisterhood.
00:39:20.909 --> 00:39:21.869
Till next time.
