WEBVTT
00:00:01.957 -->
00:00:07.857Well, hello, my valued listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Living in Your Power.
00:00:08.297 -->
00:00:14.077I'm your host, Dr. Marlene Greenlee, and I am so thankful you've joined me today
00:00:14.077 -->
00:00:17.237as we close out our January series together.
00:00:18.337 -->
00:00:23.617This month, we've been grounded in our theme, The Power Reset,
00:00:23.817 -->
00:00:25.697Returning to What Matters.
00:00:26.657 -->
00:00:32.077We've talked about pausing instead of rushing, releasing what no longer serves
00:00:32.077 -->
00:00:35.857us, and returning to stillness and discernment.
00:00:36.837 -->
00:00:40.337And today's episode brings all of that together.
00:00:41.657 -->
00:00:46.837Because today's episode, the final in our January series, is entitled,
00:00:47.137 -->
00:00:49.997Choosing What Matters Gently.
00:00:52.486 -->
00:00:55.986Now, we often associate power with force.
00:00:56.966 -->
00:01:03.746Forceful decisions, forceful movement, forceful change.
00:01:04.806 -->
00:01:11.826But the older I get and the deeper my faith becomes, the more I understand that
00:01:11.826 -->
00:01:15.106true power is often gentle.
00:01:16.586 -->
00:01:22.166Not gentle doesn't mean weak. Gentle doesn't mean passive.
00:01:22.486 -->
00:01:25.846Gentle means intentional.
00:01:27.306 -->
00:01:33.346So when we choose what matters gently, we're no longer trying to prove anything.
00:01:33.826 -->
00:01:37.886We're no longer reacting to pressure or comparison.
00:01:38.366 -->
00:01:42.806But we are instead responding from wisdom.
00:01:44.146 -->
00:01:52.686Now Isaiah 40, 31 reminds us, Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
00:01:53.146 -->
00:01:58.766They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary.
00:01:59.006 -->
00:02:01.906And they will walk and not be faint.
00:02:03.946 -->
00:02:07.406Now notice the progression. You soar.
00:02:08.386 -->
00:02:15.986Run. Walk. I mean, even walking has power when it's sustained by faith.
00:02:18.430 -->
00:02:25.590One of the most important leadership lessons we can learn is how to lead ourselves with compassion.
00:02:28.070 -->
00:02:32.790Many of us are kind, patient, and understanding with others,
00:02:33.110 -->
00:02:36.170yet harsh and demanding with ourselves.
00:02:37.150 -->
00:02:44.010I mean, we push ourselves harder than God ever asked us to. I know, I am guilty.
00:02:45.010 -->
00:02:49.730Guilty. But Jesus modeled something different.
00:02:52.350 -->
00:02:58.650He withdrew when he needed rest. He said no when crowds demanded more.
00:02:58.950 -->
00:03:01.930And he chose obedience over urgency.
00:03:03.810 -->
00:03:09.090Matthew 22.39 tells us, Love your neighbor as yourself.
00:03:09.370 -->
00:03:16.310Now that verse assumes something important. It assumes that loving yourself is not selfish.
00:03:16.410 -->
00:03:18.190It's foundational.
00:03:19.870 -->
00:03:26.570So choosing what matters means honoring your limits, listening to your spirit,
00:03:26.750 -->
00:03:30.630and recognizing when striving has replaced stewardship.
00:03:34.428 -->
00:03:41.148So as you continue your power set, dear listeners, here are three gentle choices
00:03:41.148 -->
00:03:43.768you can begin practicing right now.
00:03:44.908 -->
00:03:52.728First one, choose progress over perfection. Perfection will keep you stuck.
00:03:53.648 -->
00:03:57.008Progress keeps you moving forward with grace.
00:03:57.308 -->
00:04:03.128And God doesn't ask for flawless performance, but He asks instead for faithful
00:04:03.128 -->
00:04:08.108steps. So choose progress over perfection.
00:04:10.408 -->
00:04:14.588Next, choose alignment over approval.
00:04:15.488 -->
00:04:21.748Not every good opportunity is your assignment. And not every request deserves a yes.
00:04:22.208 -->
00:04:26.368So when your choices are aligned with your values and fate.
00:04:28.711 -->
00:04:35.671Even when others don't understand. So, choose alignment over approval.
00:04:37.311 -->
00:04:41.831And finally, choose peace without apology.
00:04:42.991 -->
00:04:49.351Peace is not something you have to earn. It's something you are allowed to protect.
00:04:50.111 -->
00:04:57.191So, choosing peace is choosing longevity, clarity, and wholeness.
00:04:57.191 -->
00:05:01.811Choose peace without apology,
00:05:03.531 -->
00:05:14.151So now let's anchor this episode With Micah 6.8 Which says He has shown you,
00:05:14.331 -->
00:05:19.491O mortal What is good And what does the Lord require of you?
00:05:20.071 -->
00:05:27.551To act justly And to love mercy And to walk humbly with your God.
00:05:28.451 -->
00:05:37.171Notice again, we're saying walk humbly, not rush, not force, not strive. Just walk.
00:05:37.671 -->
00:05:39.271Walk humbly.
00:05:40.911 -->
00:05:44.551So here's your empowerment prompt for this week. So I want you,
00:05:44.851 -->
00:05:49.111as always, to take time to journal or reflect on these questions.
00:05:50.971 -->
00:05:55.151What truly matters most in this season of my life?
00:05:56.311 -->
00:06:00.791Where am I pushing when I could be pacing myself?
00:06:01.491 -->
00:06:07.411And what would it look like to choose alignment gently instead of forcefully?
00:06:09.611 -->
00:06:11.551I'm going to repeat this for you.
00:06:14.092 -->
00:06:19.292Take time to journal or reflect on these questions. What truly matters most
00:06:19.292 -->
00:06:21.092in this season of my life?
00:06:22.532 -->
00:06:26.252Where am I pushing when I could be pacing myself?
00:06:27.612 -->
00:06:32.672And what would it look like to choose alignment gently instead of forcefully?
00:06:34.072 -->
00:06:40.372So I want you to let these questions sit with you. Because you don't have to answer them all at once.
00:06:40.872 -->
00:06:42.792Take your time. Go over them.
00:06:44.092 -->
00:06:45.352And respond accordingly.
00:06:46.932 -->
00:06:49.532So in closing my friends. I
00:06:49.532 -->
00:06:53.512want you to remember that choosing what matters. Is not about doing less.
00:06:54.032 -->
00:06:56.372It's about doing what's aligned.
00:06:57.112 -->
00:07:02.712It's about honoring your faith. Your values. And your well-being.
00:07:03.072 -->
00:07:04.552Without guilt or apology.
00:07:05.732 -->
00:07:09.092It's about trusting that gentleness can coexist with strength.
00:07:09.732 -->
00:07:13.672And that wisdom often whispers instead of shouts.
00:07:15.592 -->
00:07:20.612So I want to thank you for walking with me through our January series,
00:07:20.792 -->
00:07:24.232The Power Reset, Returning to What Matters.
00:07:24.592 -->
00:07:30.832And as we move into a new month, I hope you carry this with you.
00:07:32.292 -->
00:07:39.212You don't have to rush to be powerful. You don't have to force clarity.
00:07:40.312 -->
00:07:44.592You are allowed to choose what matters gently.
00:07:46.972 -->
00:07:52.272So I want to thank you again for joining me today in this episode on Living
00:07:52.272 -->
00:07:58.072in Your Power and until next time dear listeners I want you to live boldly in
00:07:58.072 -->
00:08:03.052your power today and if it gets tough just breathe.
00:08:05.172 -->
00:08:08.532You still have the strength to rise.
00:08:09.212 -->
00:08:16.492So until next time, continue to live in your power.
