ABOUT THIS EPISODE
If you've been told you have "unexplained infertility" — Dr. Stephanie Gray says it's not unexplained. It's undiscovered. She spent 10 years uncovering 6 hidden variables that finally helped her conceive. Today she's sharing all of it, plus the faith that carried her through.
Dr. Stephanie Gray spent a decade navigating infertility while running her own hormone clinic. In this powerful conversation, she pulls back the curtain on the six hidden variables conventional medicine missed — and how functional medicine, faith, and following her own intuition finally led to her two sons.
What You'll Hear:
- Why "unexplained infertility" is actually undiscovered infertility
- The 6 hidden variables Dr. Gray uncovered in her own fertility journey: structural issues (endometriosis, infections), toxins, stress, trauma, gut dysfunction, and blood flow disorders
- What the 100-day window is — and why it changes everything about egg and sperm quality
- Why AMH levels are not a death sentence (and how Dr. Gray has watched them change)
- The faith piece: how to pursue medicine AND trust God at the same time
- Dr. Stephanie reads the fertility prayer from her book — have tissues ready

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:04.799
We get so many women who are like, I am struggling with fertility.
00:00:05.200 --> 00:00:07.360
I don't have regular periods.
00:00:07.519 --> 00:00:13.199
I was told I have unexplained infertility, or I just need to do IVF, right?
00:00:13.359 --> 00:00:14.240
All the things.
00:00:14.480 --> 00:00:15.439
Yes, yes.
00:00:15.519 --> 00:00:17.519
And this topic is super close to my heart.
00:00:17.600 --> 00:00:21.600
As you know, I've got my own brother and sister-in-law going through this right now.
00:00:21.679 --> 00:00:23.120
And so, yeah.
00:00:28.399 --> 00:00:38.000
If you're tired of doing all the right things and still feeling exhausted, stuck in your body, and disconnected from God, this podcast is for you.
00:00:38.240 --> 00:00:38.719
I'm Dr.
00:00:38.880 --> 00:00:48.000
Tabitha, a triple board certified functional medicine physician, and I help women stop fighting their bodies and start healing them God's way.
00:00:48.240 --> 00:00:49.520
Let's get into it.
00:00:55.200 --> 00:00:57.759
Welcome back to the Fast of Faith podcast.
00:00:57.840 --> 00:00:58.960
How's it going, Ashley?
00:00:59.359 --> 00:01:01.119
Oh man, it is going so good.
00:01:01.280 --> 00:01:02.000
How about you?
00:01:02.719 --> 00:01:04.000
I'm excited.
00:01:04.159 --> 00:01:06.560
There is sun shining outside.
00:01:07.040 --> 00:01:10.319
Everyone, I feel like when you go somewhere now, everyone's got life.
00:01:10.400 --> 00:01:11.439
Like it's coming back.
00:01:11.599 --> 00:01:12.400
It feels good.
00:01:12.640 --> 00:01:15.200
Yes, I actually have plans for the day.
00:01:15.439 --> 00:01:18.239
Want to get out of bed and like move my body.
00:01:18.480 --> 00:01:20.079
I'm not struggling so much.
00:01:20.480 --> 00:01:22.159
So thank you for that, son.
00:01:22.640 --> 00:01:24.159
Ramination season is over.
00:01:24.400 --> 00:01:25.599
Yes, exactly.
00:01:25.840 --> 00:01:29.680
And when we think about spring, we think about rebirth.
00:01:29.840 --> 00:01:32.719
We think about things coming alive.
00:01:33.040 --> 00:01:36.799
And this episode today has been a long time coming.
00:01:36.879 --> 00:01:43.280
It's so necessary because we get so many women who are like, I am struggling with fertility.
00:01:43.680 --> 00:01:45.920
I don't have regular periods.
00:01:46.079 --> 00:01:51.680
I was told I have unexplained infertility, or I just need to do IVF, right?
00:01:51.840 --> 00:01:52.719
All the things.
00:01:53.040 --> 00:01:53.920
Yes, yes.
00:01:54.079 --> 00:01:56.079
And this topic is super close to my heart.
00:01:56.159 --> 00:02:00.079
As you know, I've got my own brother and sister-in-law going through this right now.
00:02:00.239 --> 00:02:01.599
And so, yeah.
00:02:02.640 --> 00:02:05.040
Yeah, I feel your emotions on that.
00:02:06.640 --> 00:02:21.439
This is a heavy episode for some people because um I think it's just in our nature that we want to reproduce, we want to leave an air, we want to have a legacy, uh, we want to have a little mini me in the world.
00:02:21.599 --> 00:02:28.879
And so our guest today is just doing incredible work in this space, and I'm so excited to have her.
00:02:29.199 --> 00:02:29.520
Me too.
00:02:29.599 --> 00:02:34.080
It was just really fun to plan and look at your book, and I'm excited about it.
00:02:34.400 --> 00:02:35.439
Well, hello, Dr.
00:02:35.520 --> 00:02:36.560
Stephanie Gray.
00:02:36.639 --> 00:02:37.599
How are you?
00:02:38.479 --> 00:02:39.759
What a beautiful intro.
00:02:39.919 --> 00:02:45.919
This is a heavy topic, and it just makes me just seeing your face, Ashley, makes me want to cry because I, you know, I've been there.
00:02:46.080 --> 00:02:48.000
I've been there, but that's why I wrote this book.
00:02:48.080 --> 00:02:53.759
I prayed to God, not that you ever want to barter with God, but I said, gosh, if you bless me with another child, like I will share this message with the world.
00:02:53.919 --> 00:02:54.960
Like, people need to hear this.
00:02:55.039 --> 00:02:57.120
And so thank you for having me on the show, both of you.
00:02:57.199 --> 00:03:00.560
I'm just encouraged and excited to share my message of hope.
00:03:00.719 --> 00:03:03.439
Oh my goodness, you remind me of Hannah in the Bible.
00:03:03.520 --> 00:03:05.680
She's like, Lord, just give me a son.
00:03:05.759 --> 00:03:06.960
I'll give him back to you.
00:03:07.120 --> 00:03:11.360
I promise you can have him, but I just want to have a son.
00:03:11.759 --> 00:03:13.599
And that's how we got Samuel.
00:03:13.840 --> 00:03:17.520
So this is how we got the fertility blueprint.
00:03:17.680 --> 00:03:20.479
Thank you for sending me a hard copy of this.
00:03:20.560 --> 00:03:23.039
And I am telling you, I feel so honored.
00:03:23.280 --> 00:03:27.039
I am on the first page, the first paragraph.
00:03:27.439 --> 00:03:28.240
That's amazing.
00:03:28.719 --> 00:03:29.199
I know.
00:03:29.439 --> 00:03:30.319
Look at that.
00:03:30.560 --> 00:03:31.919
So thank you.
00:03:32.159 --> 00:03:36.560
But um, I was joking that this is kind of like a medical book.
00:03:36.719 --> 00:03:44.080
It is all-encompassing, it has every answer that you're ever looking for on your fertility journey.
00:03:44.240 --> 00:03:45.439
It is so impressive.
00:03:45.599 --> 00:03:48.479
I just, girl, you blew me away when you wrote this.
00:03:48.719 --> 00:03:56.240
Um, but my favorite part is page 63, a prayer for your fertility journey.
00:03:57.199 --> 00:03:58.000
Thank you for putting it in.
00:03:58.080 --> 00:03:59.680
I printed that in case you wanted me to read it.
00:03:59.840 --> 00:04:00.560
Yes, yes.
00:04:00.800 --> 00:04:04.479
I mean, faith was just a crucial part of this journey.
00:04:04.639 --> 00:04:11.120
Like, you have to trust God, but you get angry at times because you wonder, like, I have a hormone clinic, you know that, right?
00:04:11.199 --> 00:04:15.759
And like I was helping other women get pregnant, yet I had all these hidden variables that I needed to uncover.
00:04:15.840 --> 00:04:18.800
I needed functional medicine to help me get to the root cause of my problems.
00:04:18.959 --> 00:04:21.600
All the while I was still seeing reproductive endocrinology.
00:04:21.680 --> 00:04:23.120
And it was a long journey.
00:04:23.199 --> 00:04:25.759
It took me 10 years to bring two little boys into this world.
00:04:25.920 --> 00:04:27.920
And I think people thought, does she not want to have children?
00:04:28.079 --> 00:04:31.120
Because I I had kids, you know, I had one at 35 and one at 40.
00:04:31.279 --> 00:04:32.720
I was kind of not a late bloomer.
00:04:32.800 --> 00:04:36.800
It just took a long time to bring those um two little ones into the world.
00:04:36.959 --> 00:04:38.560
But faith was a huge part of that.
00:04:38.720 --> 00:04:42.000
Just I had faith warriors, I had my parents praying over me.
00:04:42.079 --> 00:04:45.120
I was praying over my womb, and I knew that God had this family for us.
00:04:45.199 --> 00:04:47.759
It was just, it just took a long time coming.
00:04:47.839 --> 00:04:50.639
But I learned a lot along the way, and that's what's in this book.
00:04:50.720 --> 00:04:55.759
That's why it's so thick, because it it I had six major hidden variables that needed to be uncovered.
00:04:55.839 --> 00:05:01.199
And that's what I think a lot of women, they they just don't know what's they don't, they don't know what they don't know.
00:05:01.360 --> 00:05:03.040
And so that's what I wanted to put in this book.
00:05:03.279 --> 00:05:04.240
Yeah, absolutely.
00:05:04.399 --> 00:05:07.439
And as an OBGYN, I didn't even know.
00:05:07.680 --> 00:05:10.240
So you have taught me things, you know.
00:05:10.399 --> 00:05:16.560
And I remember when you were going through a hard time during your pregnancy and you reached out and you're like, hey, what's this about?
00:05:16.639 --> 00:05:18.959
And we kind of figured it out together.
00:05:19.279 --> 00:05:23.920
But I want the women listening to know, like, you're the real deal.
00:05:24.160 --> 00:05:36.399
You have a hormone clinic in Iowa, you are functionally trained, you you know your stuff, but then to actually experience it yourself is a whole nother level.
00:05:36.560 --> 00:05:39.360
Like, you know, that is that is everything.
00:05:39.600 --> 00:05:42.800
So where do where do we even start?
00:05:43.120 --> 00:05:46.079
Is is it just giving women hope again?
00:05:48.079 --> 00:05:48.720
Yeah, yeah.
00:05:48.800 --> 00:05:49.600
Where do we start?
00:05:49.680 --> 00:05:50.079
I don't know.
00:05:51.040 --> 00:06:06.639
I mean, you talk a lot about functional medicine on your podcast, and I think that's the important part to start with because you mentioned before a lot of women are referred to IVF, and I think by the time they get to IVF, conventional medicine, your reproductive endocrinology, doesn't even care what the root cause is.
00:06:06.720 --> 00:06:08.720
They think they're just gonna bypass that root cause, right?
00:06:08.800 --> 00:06:09.439
They just don't care.
00:06:09.519 --> 00:06:12.319
They just they want the numbers, they want to transfer the embryos.
00:06:12.720 --> 00:06:16.000
Well, I had the numbers, I had the embryos, and they weren't taking.
00:06:16.639 --> 00:06:21.519
So I'm a classic example of why there's more to the story and why functional medicine is so important.
00:06:21.759 --> 00:06:22.480
I used both.
00:06:22.560 --> 00:06:27.120
I mean, I used functional medicine and conventional medicine, which we describe as integrated medicine, right?
00:06:27.199 --> 00:06:28.399
The best of all worlds combined.
00:06:28.480 --> 00:06:29.920
I needed all those tools.
00:06:30.079 --> 00:06:37.519
And so if someone's listening and they haven't been able to conceive, there is probably something uncovered that just needs to be discovered, right?
00:06:37.600 --> 00:06:41.279
I don't I don't believe in unexplained infertility, I believe it's just undiscovered.
00:06:41.519 --> 00:06:42.079
That makes sense.
00:06:42.160 --> 00:06:47.279
And functional medicine, hence this book, right, can help you discover that.
00:06:47.519 --> 00:06:48.560
Yeah, absolutely.
00:06:48.800 --> 00:06:59.279
I love at the end of the book, you have uh like a checklist of like here are all the different areas that you need to ask questions and evaluate.
00:06:59.519 --> 00:07:03.199
Have I thought of this as a root cause issue?
00:07:03.439 --> 00:07:07.360
So I would love for you to just break it down for our listeners.
00:07:07.439 --> 00:07:12.000
Like, what are the major areas that you see missed most often?
00:07:13.680 --> 00:07:14.639
Should I share mine?
00:07:14.800 --> 00:07:17.040
My six major Yes, please.
00:07:17.920 --> 00:07:20.480
I had six major, I'll say hidden variables.
00:07:20.639 --> 00:07:22.560
Um, so I'll kind of start with structural.
00:07:22.639 --> 00:07:26.000
I know you guys have talked a lot about probably on the show about endometriosis.
00:07:26.079 --> 00:07:27.439
I definitely had endometriosis.
00:07:27.519 --> 00:07:37.519
I had stage four and um I guess maybe to functional medicine's credit, because I was practicing functional medicine and I was on progesterone and lotus niltrexin and fissual and turmeric.
00:07:37.680 --> 00:07:39.360
I didn't have the horrible periods.
00:07:39.439 --> 00:07:42.399
I had gotten them under control, but some of the damage had been done.
00:07:42.560 --> 00:07:44.079
And so I did need to have surgery.
00:07:44.160 --> 00:07:55.360
So this is where I did need conventional medicine, but I did seek out some surgeons out of state who had a non-scarring, maybe you know more about this, but like a non-scarring technique because I didn't want the endometriosis to come back.
00:07:55.519 --> 00:07:59.600
And because I didn't want it to come back, I needed to abide by anti-inflammatory diet, right?
00:07:59.680 --> 00:08:01.279
I needed to get gluten and dairy out of my life.
00:08:01.360 --> 00:08:04.240
I had had gluten out of my life a long time, but I needed to get dairy out.
00:08:04.399 --> 00:08:10.319
It was almost a year exactly that I was able to conceive my first son after being dairy-free.
00:08:10.720 --> 00:08:13.680
So that was kind of a major structural issue for me.
00:08:13.759 --> 00:08:20.399
And we I talk about this in the book, and I you talked about this on the podcast when I interviewed you that, you know, you I'm not a surgeon, but you are.
00:08:20.480 --> 00:08:29.519
So, you know, you're opening up um patients to do surgery, and you are noticing that like half the time their bowels are fused to their reproductive um organs, right?
00:08:29.600 --> 00:08:34.000
So when one will say, you know, body system is inflamed, that doesn't mean the others aren't.
00:08:34.159 --> 00:08:35.279
They likely all are.
00:08:35.360 --> 00:08:42.960
And so getting again to that root cause of the problem is not just doing the surgery, but it's also changing the diet, minimizing the inflammation so it doesn't come back.
00:08:43.200 --> 00:08:43.519
Yeah.
00:08:43.759 --> 00:08:46.320
So that was a huge part of part of my story.
00:08:46.480 --> 00:08:53.440
Um, the second kind of structural component of that, um, and I think I asked you about this, although so much time has gone by.
00:08:53.519 --> 00:08:58.559
It's hard to remember, but um, but I had chorioamnionitis with my first.
00:08:59.200 --> 00:09:01.200
The one that you had texted me about, yes.
00:09:01.919 --> 00:09:02.480
Yes.
00:09:02.720 --> 00:09:08.559
And so, you know, I had so you had an infection inside the womb during the pregnancy.
00:09:09.200 --> 00:09:10.159
Yes, yes.
00:09:10.399 --> 00:09:14.000
And so, you know, the story to getting that first child was, you know, long.
00:09:14.159 --> 00:09:16.000
We didn't even know if we were gonna have another kid at that point.
00:09:16.080 --> 00:09:23.679
But but after having him, I thought, did you know, would having this infection uh inhibit me from conceiving again?
00:09:23.840 --> 00:09:27.120
And all the reproductive endocrinologists I talked to said, no, no, no, you're fine.
00:09:27.200 --> 00:09:30.000
People with corium neonitis get pregnant easily.
00:09:30.159 --> 00:09:33.600
Well, it could be that you had groupy strep, it could be STDs, right?
00:09:33.759 --> 00:09:37.840
If you've had an infection in there, that can inhibit embryo implantation moving forward.
00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:47.039
So if you're struggling with secondary infertility as I was, might I just I'd encourage the listeners to follow your intuition because I just felt like I had the numbers.
00:09:47.120 --> 00:09:49.440
They kept deploying these embryos and they weren't taking.
00:09:49.600 --> 00:09:55.120
And so in the back of my head, I thought, well, what if this coriomnionitis is part of the implantation failure?
00:09:55.279 --> 00:09:57.279
And so I actually asked for a uterine biopsy.
00:09:57.360 --> 00:10:01.679
I said, go up there, biopsy my tissue, like try to figure out if that's the problem.
00:10:02.240 --> 00:10:08.080
And they kind of were nonchalant and they finally like conceded to it and did it, and the biopsy was negative.
00:10:08.159 --> 00:10:12.399
And so I said, okay, I guess I'll put that hypothesis to rest, but my these embryos kept failing.
00:10:12.480 --> 00:10:19.919
And so I got to the point where I said, I had I had brown bleeding after my cycles, and brown bleeding can be a sign that there is a underlying infection.
00:10:20.080 --> 00:10:22.480
So I said, open me up, I can't keep wasting these embryos.
00:10:22.639 --> 00:10:24.000
Like, I've got to figure this out.
00:10:24.159 --> 00:10:28.159
And I'll never forget that reproductive endocrinologist came back to me and said, You were right, you were right.
00:10:28.320 --> 00:10:32.320
The upper pole of my uterus where they were deploying all those embryos with IVF was totally inflamed.
00:10:32.399 --> 00:10:37.440
I had endometritis as a result of that prior corium neonitis infection.
00:10:37.679 --> 00:10:41.679
So had I not followed my intuition, like, and and who begs for surgery?
00:10:41.840 --> 00:10:45.440
Like I was basically like, open me up, you know, figure this out.
00:10:45.600 --> 00:10:54.879
But I mean, after I there were there are a couple other variables we can get to, but after taking antibiotics to clear that infection, I got pregnant.
00:10:55.279 --> 00:10:58.559
So that was clearly a major hindering variable.
00:10:58.879 --> 00:10:59.279
Yeah, I think.
00:10:59.679 --> 00:11:04.080
So if you've had a past infection, yes, I mean, please talk to your doctor about that.
00:11:04.159 --> 00:11:05.759
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
00:11:05.919 --> 00:11:07.600
And follow your intuition.
00:11:07.759 --> 00:11:16.639
Like we are really trained to believe that the doctor knows better than us about our own body, and that's just not true.
00:11:16.799 --> 00:11:22.480
Like we actually know and we can hear from our body if we start to listen again.
00:11:22.639 --> 00:11:27.360
And and when you act on it, then you start to trust yourself again.
00:11:27.679 --> 00:11:30.480
So um super important points.
00:11:30.639 --> 00:11:37.279
Yeah, sometimes something has developed structurally that needs to be addressed with conventional medicine.
00:11:37.440 --> 00:11:43.759
We love the OBGYNs, they have their place, they're just not hormone experts, that's a whole nother topic.
00:11:44.000 --> 00:11:47.279
Um, yeah, so I wanna I wanna say something.
00:11:47.360 --> 00:12:01.759
So I'm gonna say something to the listener who's listening that's not a doctor, because you guys, I feel like you have the education and probably the um, I don't know, the confidence, I guess, to say to your doctors, like, hey, this is what I want.
00:12:01.919 --> 00:12:08.240
And so there are women listening right now who are not doctors that need to advocate for themselves and like they can do this too.
00:12:08.320 --> 00:12:21.919
And that's why, Stephanie, your book is so powerful because they can find it in the book, and even if they just have to literally take your book to the doctor, but they just need to know that they they have the power as well and to be confident because they know their body better than anyone else.
00:12:22.080 --> 00:12:28.159
So I just wanted to make sure I said that because I know there's people listening, like, I I need to advocate, but I'm not a doctor, and that's okay.
00:12:28.320 --> 00:12:29.840
You can still advocate for yourself.
00:12:30.080 --> 00:12:31.440
Oh my gosh, that's a great point.
00:12:31.600 --> 00:12:33.600
Just take the book to the doctor.
00:12:33.919 --> 00:12:40.399
Literally, like you have to sometimes have evidence because we can be dense in the head and think we know everything.
00:12:40.639 --> 00:12:41.519
So yeah.
00:12:41.759 --> 00:12:42.799
All right, let's go.
00:12:43.200 --> 00:12:44.960
Number three pillar.
00:12:46.879 --> 00:12:50.799
Um, yeah, so you want me to just keep going through some of these hidden variables that affected me?
00:12:51.200 --> 00:12:58.159
Um, so you know, toxins also again, both of us talk about this on our podcast, but toxins can greatly contribute.
00:12:58.240 --> 00:13:08.080
And so, you know, back in the day, I was using Bath and Body Works and, you know, lotion and Victoria's Secret Lip Glass and wearing chlorine least, wearing whatever, using chlorine-laced tampons, right?
00:13:08.240 --> 00:13:15.759
Um, getting chemical hair straighteners, like I am totally convinced I induced my own endometriosis by a lifestyle that I had unintentionally.
00:13:15.840 --> 00:13:16.480
I didn't know, right?
00:13:16.559 --> 00:13:25.200
But I think many women now understand this, but again, I think with me the damage had been done because I had decades of that, you know, inflammation, whatnot building up.
00:13:25.279 --> 00:13:28.399
And these toxins are endocrine disruptors, which will mess with our hormones.
00:13:28.480 --> 00:13:31.279
And so just getting toxins out of our life is huge.
00:13:31.360 --> 00:13:34.559
And I don't have to spend too much time on this, but this applies to men and women.
00:13:34.720 --> 00:13:49.600
So if your partner is wearing flame-retardant underwear, you know, or you know, polyester or whatnot, like I talk a lot about this on the book, what fabrics are safe, which and which ones are not safe, and that can affect sperm count too, and it affect hormone signaling.
00:13:49.759 --> 00:13:52.480
So for men and women, you gotta get the toxins out.
00:13:52.639 --> 00:13:55.679
So that was one of the early variables that I found.
00:13:56.000 --> 00:14:00.799
And then stress and chronic nervous system dysregulation was another.
00:14:01.039 --> 00:14:06.799
So um I have a busy practice like you, and my stress was very high.
00:14:06.879 --> 00:14:09.440
And when stress is high, cortisol is high and progesterone is low.
00:14:09.600 --> 00:14:11.279
Progesterone means progestation.
00:14:11.360 --> 00:14:14.399
You've got to have progesterone to get pregnant and to stay pregnant.
00:14:14.559 --> 00:14:17.440
So I needed to lower the cortisol and raise the progesterone.
00:14:17.600 --> 00:14:18.799
That's the short end of it.
00:14:18.879 --> 00:14:23.039
But I was stuck in fight or flight and I really needed to change things, set healthy boundaries.
00:14:23.120 --> 00:14:26.080
I always say stress is your body's biggest hormone hijacker.
00:14:26.240 --> 00:14:35.039
So when you're trying to get pregnant, this is the biggest, most important time in your life to get stressed down so that your hormones can be where they need to be.
00:14:35.200 --> 00:14:36.639
Progesterone can be high.
00:14:36.799 --> 00:14:38.799
That is easier said than done.
00:14:38.960 --> 00:14:48.960
Um, but for me, really learning that I needed to get my nervous system in check, it wasn't just self-care, like it was essential to creating an internal environment where my body felt safe to conceive.
00:14:49.200 --> 00:14:54.159
So stress is another variable, which kind of leads to the next, which is trauma.
00:14:54.320 --> 00:14:57.679
So I had, I think, unresolved birth trauma.
00:14:57.759 --> 00:15:00.879
And even in functional medicine, like 10 years ago, we weren't talking about trauma.
00:15:01.120 --> 00:15:01.840
Like now we are.
00:15:02.000 --> 00:15:04.720
Now we're screening for it, but we didn't used to screen for it.
00:15:04.799 --> 00:15:09.840
And so I had a pretty devastating um two-liter um hemorrhage.
00:15:10.480 --> 00:15:13.919
And if anyone's had a hemorrhage, you know, you just kind of feel like the life is sucked out of you.
00:15:14.000 --> 00:15:14.720
Like it's very scary.
00:15:14.799 --> 00:15:18.639
I ended up having a three-liter hemorrhage with my second kid, but back to the first one.
00:15:19.039 --> 00:15:22.799
I truly believe that you know, my body was in a state of fight or flight, right?
00:15:22.879 --> 00:15:26.879
I was stressed, and I hadn't worked through that past trauma.
00:15:26.960 --> 00:15:36.399
So again, my body didn't feel it was safe to conceive or to create new, you know, God creates life, but you know, to to harbor that and grow that new life until I worked through that.
00:15:36.480 --> 00:15:47.679
So I went to a special provider who took me back to that moment and we really just kind of worked through that that traumatic experience so that I could, you know, mentally, physically just feel like I was ready to conceive again.
00:15:47.840 --> 00:15:56.240
So just something else that I, in essence, kind of checked off the list, but it was something that I really had to work through, I really believed before being able to conceive again.
00:15:56.559 --> 00:15:58.399
Oh, that's speaking to us right now.
00:15:58.639 --> 00:16:07.519
We talk about trauma so much with our patients, and not just if you're trying to conceive, like if you're harboring all that trauma, it's going to impact you in your healing.
00:16:07.840 --> 00:16:08.559
It really is.
00:16:09.039 --> 00:16:09.360
It is.
00:16:09.440 --> 00:16:11.600
And it could just be medical trauma too.
00:16:11.759 --> 00:16:14.320
I mean, just having infertility is trauma in itself.
00:16:14.480 --> 00:16:20.799
So it's just something that I I will say reproductive endocarinology never once brought up to me, right?
00:16:20.879 --> 00:16:22.559
They weren't asking about my trauma.
00:16:24.080 --> 00:16:24.960
No, exactly.
00:16:25.120 --> 00:16:34.639
And I think a lot of trauma is stored in the womb, and they, you know, add to fibroid growth and other tumor abnormalities.
00:16:34.799 --> 00:16:41.200
And I don't think that most doctors put those two and two together, and then patients definitely don't.
00:16:41.600 --> 00:16:49.279
Um, I would love for you to speak more about that because what I hear often is oh, I can handle my stressful life.
00:16:49.360 --> 00:16:50.159
It's not a big deal.
00:16:50.320 --> 00:17:05.759
And so the fact that they think mentally they're handling it means it's not affecting their physiology and their fertility when in fact it absolutely is, and 95% of what you're believing and thinking is subconscious.
00:17:06.000 --> 00:17:17.920
So yeah, if you had an emergency C-section or you know, a very traumatic or amnianitis and then pre hemorrhage labor, pre-eclampsia, a hemorrhage.
00:17:18.319 --> 00:17:22.079
What if it was or what if what if something unfortunately happened?
00:17:22.160 --> 00:17:27.519
You just had a traumatic birth in general, something happened to your first child, you know, like that's trauma right there.
00:17:27.759 --> 00:17:36.240
I mean, you almost dying, or your child almost dying, or I mean, or you haven't even had a live birth, all you've had is miscarriages, right?
00:17:36.720 --> 00:17:38.240
Miscarriage, trauma right there.
00:17:38.319 --> 00:17:38.640
Yes.
00:17:39.039 --> 00:17:41.119
Yes, it all needs to be addressed.
00:17:41.200 --> 00:17:43.519
So, where do women even start with that?
00:17:44.160 --> 00:17:48.720
I mean, your your body can be holding on to that memory, which then again is impacting that fertility.
00:17:48.799 --> 00:17:51.200
So it's not all in your head, it's back to that nervous system.
00:17:51.440 --> 00:18:00.480
So it's hard to explain over the computer how to correct this, but uh, you need to find someone, not just a therapist, but a trauma therapist specifically.
00:18:00.720 --> 00:18:03.200
It'd be great if you could find a birth trauma therapist.
00:18:03.519 --> 00:18:10.000
And I have some resources for that, but locally I had to go to someone who could take me back to that moment and talk me through.
00:18:10.079 --> 00:18:14.559
And I actually read a lot of, I should have written these down, but a lot of great affirmations also.
00:18:14.799 --> 00:18:17.680
Just honestly telling my subconscious, you can do this.
00:18:17.920 --> 00:18:19.200
It is safe to conceive.
00:18:19.440 --> 00:18:23.279
You know, this this um what happened before is not gonna repeat itself.
00:18:23.920 --> 00:18:30.559
It seemed almost silly at the time, but I think it is essential because your body will hang on to what happened.
00:18:30.640 --> 00:18:31.759
Your body wants to protect you.
00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:36.319
So you've got to convince your mind and your body that it's uh safe to proceed.
00:18:36.799 --> 00:18:37.200
Absolutely.
00:18:37.599 --> 00:18:41.279
I'm not a trauma therapist, but you gotta find someone who can work you through that.
00:18:41.599 --> 00:18:53.920
Yeah, I mean, locally we have someone who is a somatic therapist and she focuses on birth trauma and um finding that that blockage in your body and helping you work through it.
00:18:54.079 --> 00:18:56.079
So there it's amazing.
00:18:56.160 --> 00:18:59.200
There's experts everywhere, small towns, big towns.
00:18:59.359 --> 00:19:06.240
You just have to know what to search for, and that's why I love your book because you're like, here's what you even where you even need to start.
00:19:06.400 --> 00:19:07.119
You know what I mean?
00:19:07.279 --> 00:19:09.440
Some women are just they don't know.
00:19:09.680 --> 00:19:11.599
I definitely didn't know.
00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:14.240
So oh my goodness.
00:19:14.319 --> 00:19:17.519
And now you have a two-year-old, right?
00:19:17.759 --> 00:19:21.039
So I got I do, I got can I tell the last one really quick?
00:19:21.119 --> 00:19:21.680
Because this is really important.
00:19:21.920 --> 00:19:23.920
There's one more, one more hindering variable.
00:19:24.000 --> 00:19:32.319
Sorry, this was crucial for me, and then I'd love to talk about Michael, but okay, so the sixth hidden variable for me, which I talk about a lot more of these in the book, though, was blood flow problems.
00:19:32.880 --> 00:19:41.920
So if you've had an autoimmune disease or if you have family history of autoimmune disease, if you've had an elevated ANA, right, there's a chance you could have antiphospholipid syndrome.
00:19:42.079 --> 00:19:47.359
And so I, again, because of repeated implantation failure, you know, I knew something was wrong here.
00:19:47.440 --> 00:19:48.720
Like, why am I not getting pregnant?
00:19:48.799 --> 00:19:49.920
And I did have an early loss.
00:19:50.000 --> 00:19:54.720
So if you've had repeated miscarriages back to the miscarriage, there's a reason why you're having the miscarriage.
00:19:54.880 --> 00:20:04.400
I had MTHFR variants, and there are a lot of other if you're working with a functional medicine practitioner, they can test you for other genetic variants that can increase risk of clotting disorders.
00:20:04.559 --> 00:20:09.759
So I had tested myself for antiphospholipid syndrome, and I was shocked when my results came back positive.
00:20:09.839 --> 00:20:11.039
I thought, oh my gosh.
00:20:11.200 --> 00:20:23.279
So I didn't meet the full criteria for that condition because I hadn't had a miscarriage or a clot after 10 weeks, but I had enough, um, we'll say positive findings that I was put on blood thinners.
00:20:23.519 --> 00:20:26.319
And so I do think that helped as well, right?
00:20:26.400 --> 00:20:32.079
So I was already building a strong functional medicine foundation, getting my stress under control, inflammation down.
00:20:32.240 --> 00:20:37.599
Um, I did take the antibiotics, there's a time and place for that, and I got on blood thinners and I got pregnant.
00:20:37.920 --> 00:20:39.839
So that's just another.
00:20:40.319 --> 00:20:43.599
I wish reproductive endocrinology would have looked that way at the beginning, but they didn't.
00:20:43.680 --> 00:20:45.839
It wasn't until the very end, right?
00:20:46.240 --> 00:20:49.759
Um, but that's also something that could be a hidden variable.
00:20:50.000 --> 00:20:58.160
So if you have that personal or family history of autoimmune disease, or if you've had clots or miscarriage, request these labs because I've I find them on patients.
00:20:58.319 --> 00:21:00.799
I mean, they're yeah, labs exist for a reason.
00:21:00.880 --> 00:21:00.960
Right.
00:21:01.839 --> 00:21:03.519
That was another last hidden variable.
00:21:03.599 --> 00:21:05.279
I just wanted to make sure I I got a plug for that.
00:21:05.680 --> 00:21:20.000
That was super important because you know, I haven't practiced obstetrics for about five years now, but previously it was always you had to have three miscarriages before we did that blood clotting disorder workup.
00:21:20.160 --> 00:21:29.440
You know, insurance isn't gonna cover antiphospholipid and factor five light and all of these um more advanced blood work tests.
00:21:29.599 --> 00:21:32.559
And so yeah, yeah, yeah, advocate for yourself.
00:21:32.640 --> 00:21:39.680
That's super important because why would we make women go through three miscarriages?
00:21:39.759 --> 00:21:41.279
Like that's just wrong.
00:21:41.759 --> 00:21:42.079
Trauma.
00:21:42.240 --> 00:21:44.480
That's trauma, that's trauma right there.
00:21:45.599 --> 00:21:45.920
Yeah.
00:21:46.079 --> 00:21:47.200
Oh my goodness.
00:21:47.440 --> 00:21:49.119
So that's super important.
00:21:49.359 --> 00:21:50.079
Thank you.
00:21:50.720 --> 00:21:51.119
Wow.
00:21:52.000 --> 00:22:00.960
All right, Stephanie, you talk about um something in your fertility blueprint book that I wish every woman and man would hear, and it's the 100-day window.
00:22:01.039 --> 00:22:03.759
So can you tell us a little bit about what the 100-day window is?
00:22:04.720 --> 00:22:05.200
Yes.
00:22:05.680 --> 00:22:10.720
So eggs take 100 days to mature, and sperm takes 74 days.
00:22:10.960 --> 00:22:18.480
So you have the ability right now, right, if you change your lifestyle and nutrition to affect the eggs you're going to ovulate or the sperm, right?
00:22:18.799 --> 00:22:20.640
Um, three months later.
00:22:20.880 --> 00:22:33.839
So for instance, even with even if you are going through IVF, let's say you had um poor egg quality, you didn't get a lot of euploid embryos, whatnot, you have the power through nutrition lifestyle changes, right, to impact the quality of those eggs.
00:22:33.920 --> 00:22:38.160
You have three months at a hundred-day window to really improve that quality.
00:22:38.319 --> 00:22:44.400
There's so many things that you can do, like I already mentioned stress reduction, environmental cleanup, whatnot, addressing all those root causes.
00:22:44.559 --> 00:22:47.359
But one thing that made a big difference for me was antioxidants.
00:22:47.440 --> 00:22:51.119
There is significant research on antioxidants improving egg quality.
00:22:51.359 --> 00:22:56.400
CoQ10, PQQ, Nacetylcysteine, alpha lipoic acid, I mean, there's lots of one.
00:22:56.559 --> 00:22:57.440
They're all mentioned in the book.
00:22:57.599 --> 00:23:00.640
Protocols are all in the book for men and women.
00:23:00.880 --> 00:23:02.240
So back to miscarriage too.
00:23:02.319 --> 00:23:06.720
If you're having miscarriages, it could just be that that that embryo wasn't chromosomally normal.
00:23:06.880 --> 00:23:23.599
And so you have it, you know, at least 100 days, but you can certainly, I have some patients who will plan six months ahead, right, to really improve the egg and the sperm quality so that they can conceive naturally, or that so by the time they do IVF, they're gonna have odds swung in their favor because they've been really working on this.
00:23:23.839 --> 00:23:29.920
So even if you've gone through IVF, I've I have a lot of patients who have gone through IVF and they just they didn't get the numbers that they needed.
00:23:30.000 --> 00:23:30.480
That's okay.
00:23:30.559 --> 00:23:33.440
We'll try again, but we're gonna prepare ahead of time.
00:23:33.599 --> 00:23:37.279
A lot of times, um, back to reproductive endocrinology, which I don't mean to poo-poo them.
00:23:37.359 --> 00:23:41.200
I needed them big time, but they'll just say next cycle, next cycle, next cycle.
00:23:41.440 --> 00:23:42.559
No, pause.
00:23:42.720 --> 00:23:44.880
Let's pause, let's look at the numbers.
00:23:45.039 --> 00:23:47.599
You know, every single bit of information is helpful, right?
00:23:47.680 --> 00:23:49.920
If the numbers weren't good, what can we do to change those?
00:23:50.079 --> 00:23:52.880
You have that very powerful three-month window.
00:23:53.119 --> 00:23:55.599
So oh my gosh, I love that so much.
00:23:55.759 --> 00:24:09.920
I just want to say for anybody listening, like, take 30 seconds and go to shop.fastafate.com and get hormone tame because it literally has half the stuff in there that Stephanie just listed off.
00:24:10.079 --> 00:24:13.920
Like your ovaries are full of mitochondria.
00:24:14.160 --> 00:24:22.160
Those little batteries, those powerhouses trying to like do functions, make energy, they need ingredients, ladies.
00:24:22.559 --> 00:24:32.000
So get that hormone tame, get the alpha lipoic acid and all the antioxidants and your micro minerals and your B vitamins and everything.
00:24:32.079 --> 00:24:39.519
Like, wouldn't you say, Stephanie, that at this point everybody needs foundational supplementation?
00:24:41.279 --> 00:24:41.759
100%.
00:24:42.160 --> 00:24:45.759
And if you're thinking of conceiving, just start the antioxidants now.
00:24:45.920 --> 00:24:47.279
Just yeah, start them now.
00:24:47.359 --> 00:24:47.519
Yeah.
00:24:47.759 --> 00:24:48.240
Yeah, absolutely.
00:24:48.559 --> 00:24:51.599
Even if you're not trying to conceive, you need antioxidants, but right?
00:24:51.759 --> 00:24:54.240
Like you don't want to be getting cancer and other things.
00:24:55.119 --> 00:24:57.359
Let's talk about fish oil.
00:24:57.519 --> 00:25:11.119
Do you feel like some women can get away with um not doing the clotting workup because they're on high doses of fish oil, or were you already on fish oil and you still had that issue?
00:25:11.519 --> 00:25:12.000
I was.
00:25:12.079 --> 00:25:16.000
I was on fish oil and aspirin, and I still needed Lovinox.
00:25:16.079 --> 00:25:19.039
So I do think some people can get by with high dose fish oil for sure.
00:25:19.119 --> 00:25:22.240
I would prefer, very much have preferred to not take Lovinox.
00:25:22.400 --> 00:25:26.640
But at that point, it had been, I mean, you're like you said, my son's almost two.
00:25:26.720 --> 00:25:28.480
So this was a journey that was years ago, right?
00:25:28.559 --> 00:25:30.960
And it's hard to like reflect back.
00:25:31.039 --> 00:25:33.039
But I remember in that moment, you're just so desperate.
00:25:33.119 --> 00:25:34.000
I had been through so much.
00:25:34.160 --> 00:25:36.079
I'd had so many surgeries, I'd gone through Ivy.
00:25:36.400 --> 00:25:40.400
I mean, I had six embryo transfers fail, eight IUIs.
00:25:40.559 --> 00:25:42.400
Like I had gone through a lot.
00:25:42.720 --> 00:25:45.039
So at that point, I was like, yes, I will take the blend that.
00:25:45.359 --> 00:25:48.720
Like, I will do whatever I need to bring a baby into this world.
00:25:48.880 --> 00:25:52.240
But I do think, I don't think everybody needs the blend that's.
00:25:52.720 --> 00:25:53.039
Okay.
00:25:53.440 --> 00:25:54.240
Thank you for that.
00:25:54.400 --> 00:25:56.079
I think that's really helpful.
00:25:56.319 --> 00:26:03.759
Um, yeah, so I feel like I'm overwhelmed and I'm not even on this journey.
00:26:04.960 --> 00:26:14.319
Um, there's just so much that I didn't learn as an OBGYN that the reproductive, the REIs don't talk about to the patients.
00:26:14.559 --> 00:26:21.039
And I really do feel like it's just this jump to get on the assembly line with IVF.
00:26:21.200 --> 00:26:23.920
You know, the first question is, how long has it been?
00:26:24.079 --> 00:26:24.960
Is it been six months?
00:26:25.119 --> 00:26:26.000
Are you over 40?
00:26:26.160 --> 00:26:27.119
Are you over 35?
00:26:27.279 --> 00:26:28.240
Is it been a year?
00:26:28.400 --> 00:26:30.720
And like they just send you down the chute.
00:26:31.039 --> 00:26:40.160
So, what would you recommend women do before they even go have that appointment if they haven't gone down that route route yet?
00:26:40.720 --> 00:26:43.519
Yeah, just because you're 40 doesn't mean you need IVF.
00:26:43.599 --> 00:26:44.799
Let me be very clear about that.
00:26:44.960 --> 00:26:47.119
I talk about a lot of cases in my book.
00:26:47.279 --> 00:26:50.160
Um, one patient I was seeing, you know, she had had a miscarriage.
00:26:50.240 --> 00:26:53.200
She was, I forget, 42 or 43 at the time.
00:26:53.279 --> 00:26:56.319
And we I ran her through the regular functional medicine protocol.
00:26:56.400 --> 00:27:06.960
We did nutritional analysis testing, you know, food sensitivity testing, got her on progesterone, optimized her thyroid, like all the what we consider basic stuff, I guess, but stuff that conventional medicine isn't offering.
00:27:07.119 --> 00:27:13.519
And we both got pregnant about the same time, which is so cool because we're in our 40s and we had these babies a week apart.
00:27:13.599 --> 00:27:16.079
And so it it is very, very possible.
00:27:16.160 --> 00:27:16.960
I already forgot the question.
00:27:17.039 --> 00:27:18.319
I think you're asking, what do you do?
00:27:18.480 --> 00:27:28.240
You don't jump to IVF, find a functional medicine provider who can do this workup because we can optimize your status and hopefully prevent the need for more advanced, you know, reproductive services.
00:27:28.559 --> 00:27:29.200
Absolutely.
00:27:29.359 --> 00:27:35.359
I used to do case reviews for a functional medicine fertility clinic.
00:27:35.680 --> 00:27:45.759
And I kid you not, nine times out of ten, they would do the root-cause healing, and these women would turn things around and get pregnant.
00:27:45.920 --> 00:27:58.079
And one of the things that they would really focus on coming in and would trip them up and and cause them to not have hope and want to run to IVF is the AMH.
00:27:58.240 --> 00:28:00.559
So can you talk a little bit about that?
00:28:00.720 --> 00:28:08.960
Because they're just fixated on, like, uh, you know, my AMH level isn't great, and my doctor says there's no no chance.
00:28:09.920 --> 00:28:15.680
Yeah, so AMH, antimalarian hormone, however we pronounce that, is a marker of egg quality, egg reserve, whatnot.
00:28:15.759 --> 00:28:19.039
And so, you know, supposedly it's unchangeable.
00:28:19.440 --> 00:28:20.000
That's a lie.
00:28:20.640 --> 00:28:21.039
That's a lie.
00:28:21.119 --> 00:28:23.359
I've seen it change a hundred times.
00:28:23.920 --> 00:28:32.559
Yeah, I mean, just like I've seen patients in premature ovarian failure, literally, who come to me for HRT, but they want to have a baby, and I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:28:32.640 --> 00:28:37.119
If you're wanting to have a baby, let's fix the premature ovarian failure, not put you on HRT, let's get you pregnant.
00:28:37.200 --> 00:28:40.799
We'll go well when you get through menopause later, we'll um we'll conquer that.
00:28:40.880 --> 00:28:49.039
But I mean, I would say don't ever give up hope because like so the sorry I'm diverting to premature ovarian failure, but kind of similar.
00:28:49.279 --> 00:28:51.920
No, it's it's absolutely the same thing.
00:28:52.799 --> 00:29:01.200
The the case example in the book was uh she had mold toxicity and her hormones with mold, your hormones so back to toxicity impacting.
00:29:01.279 --> 00:29:07.440
I was more talking, I guess, about personal care products that can affect fertility, but there's so many environmental toxins.
00:29:07.599 --> 00:29:08.640
I live in Iowa, right?
00:29:08.799 --> 00:29:11.680
Glyphosate, atrazine, like we have high cancer rates.
00:29:11.759 --> 00:29:16.319
I mean, there's spraying chemicals all over, like that it's a hot topic right now in Iowa.
00:29:16.559 --> 00:29:21.920
Um, but there are other environmental toxins like that, like those, and mold that can impact your hormones.
00:29:22.000 --> 00:29:24.079
Some can cause hormones to go high, others low.
00:29:24.160 --> 00:29:27.200
And in this particular case, she literally had premature ovarian failure.
00:29:27.279 --> 00:29:28.799
All her hormones were low.
00:29:29.119 --> 00:29:33.440
We it took a while, we detoxed her from mold, but her hormones bounced back.
00:29:33.599 --> 00:29:39.359
So she went from looking like she was menopausal to she got pregnant, also around 40, late 30s.
00:29:39.440 --> 00:29:39.759
Yeah.
00:29:40.000 --> 00:29:41.359
So it's possible.
00:29:41.599 --> 00:29:51.519
Just because you have a lab come back discouraging, I hello, there's, you know, like you said, 400 pages in this book here that can help you correct the AMH or correct the low hormones, whatnot.
00:29:51.599 --> 00:29:53.279
Just don't give up hope.
00:29:53.599 --> 00:29:54.319
Oh my gosh.
00:29:54.559 --> 00:30:00.000
I have a question that is it keeps coming, so it's gotta be the Holy Spirit telling me to ask you this.
00:30:00.079 --> 00:30:05.839
So something that we haven't quite addressed is the faith piece and how your faith played a role in your journey.
00:30:06.000 --> 00:30:07.839
So I think you need to speak on that.
00:30:08.160 --> 00:30:10.559
I don't know why, it just keeps coming up in my head.
00:30:11.200 --> 00:30:26.400
Yeah, well, I talk a lot about this in the book because this was really, really, it was really hard for me to pursue IVF because as a Christian, you know, I thought I never well, A, I never thought I would have even been had to go down this route.
00:30:26.480 --> 00:30:30.880
I thought I have a hormone clinic, but like I know how to manage myself, I'm gonna get pregnant right off the bat.
00:30:30.960 --> 00:30:32.079
And I and I didn't.
00:30:32.160 --> 00:30:45.440
And so I think I have to bring IVF into this conversation of faith because I think God does lead us, He give either gives us peace that, you know, the at the end of the day, maybe not everybody, maybe his plan for everyone isn't to have a biological child.
00:30:45.599 --> 00:30:46.240
Maybe it's adoption.
00:30:46.319 --> 00:30:47.599
There's different paths for everyone.
00:30:47.680 --> 00:30:52.720
And so I think, you know, we really need to listen, like you said, to the Holy Spirit and know like what is God's calling for me?
00:30:52.880 --> 00:30:54.480
Do I need to be asking these questions?
00:30:54.559 --> 00:30:56.640
Do I need to see reproductive endocrinology?
00:30:56.720 --> 00:30:57.759
Do I need to see functional medicine?
00:30:57.839 --> 00:30:59.200
Like, what path do I need to go down?
00:30:59.359 --> 00:31:09.359
But for me, um, from the very beginning, again, I am very lucky that I just had faith warriors, prayer warriors speaking life over me.
00:31:09.440 --> 00:31:11.920
And my mother is just incredible and she never gave up.
00:31:12.079 --> 00:31:17.519
I mean, she and I both just believed that God had another child for me and it was gonna happen.
00:31:17.680 --> 00:31:20.559
But it was a very long journey and I did get discouraged.
00:31:20.720 --> 00:31:25.599
But back to Hannah, Tabitha, like you were saying in the Bible, I I have a whole section on women in the Bible in the book.
00:31:25.759 --> 00:31:29.440
Like infertility dates back to you know the beginning of time.
00:31:29.599 --> 00:31:32.720
Even back then, women were struggling with this.
00:31:33.039 --> 00:31:38.720
But I I don't know if all your listeners have faith, but I don't know how I would have gotten through this without faith.
00:31:38.880 --> 00:31:40.640
I mean, that's what sustained me.
00:31:40.960 --> 00:31:45.599
Um, and again, like the prayer that's in the the the book, which we can certainly read at the end if you want.
00:31:45.680 --> 00:31:54.880
Um it's so important to just speak life over your uterus and just believe that God has a family, however it comes to be, you know, for you.
00:31:55.279 --> 00:32:02.240
But bringing IVF into the conversation, um, I, you know, I didn't know, like, is this something that I would support that I would do for myself or not?
00:32:02.400 --> 00:32:07.680
And and kind of I prayed, my husband and I prayed for a long time, you know, before we went down that route.
00:32:07.759 --> 00:32:12.000
But the way I saw IVF was only God creates life, right?
00:32:12.240 --> 00:32:22.079
So, yes, I'm pursuing more aggressive technology, but I saw that as tools that he had given providers to help me with.
00:32:22.160 --> 00:32:23.759
It's kind of like the story of the man on the boat.
00:32:23.839 --> 00:32:30.319
I don't know how the story goes, but you know, like the man sitting on the boat and people keep coming in the middle of the water and people keep coming by offering to help him.
00:32:31.839 --> 00:32:33.200
And he keeps sending them to him.
00:32:33.279 --> 00:32:33.839
Yes.
00:32:34.160 --> 00:32:34.400
Right.
00:32:34.559 --> 00:32:37.519
But God keeps sending him people to help him, and he's not seeing that as help.
00:32:37.599 --> 00:32:38.799
Like that's how I saw IVF.
00:32:38.880 --> 00:32:47.200
You know, if I had cancer and needed chemotherapy, or if I was diabetic and needed insulin, you know, I I just felt like, okay, I have infertility, I need some additional help here.
00:32:47.279 --> 00:32:48.000
I'm okay with that.
00:32:48.079 --> 00:32:52.240
That is a tool that God has amazing technology, God has, you know, provided for me.
00:32:52.480 --> 00:32:55.119
And that's how I was at peace with this.
00:32:55.359 --> 00:33:04.079
You know, I guess I was using, of course, both functional medicine and conventional medicine, but I I did have a piece of, and I know I have some friends who you didn't proceed with IVF.
00:33:04.160 --> 00:33:05.839
They just didn't feel like that was right for them.
00:33:05.920 --> 00:33:07.359
And that's that's totally fine.
00:33:07.519 --> 00:33:11.599
But I think that's between you and God to really decide like what path he has for you.
00:33:11.680 --> 00:33:18.960
And uh now I can reflect reflect back years later saying, clearly that was part of my journey, so I could write this book and share this with the world, right?
00:33:19.200 --> 00:33:21.440
Um, but I don't know if that answers your question.
00:33:21.519 --> 00:33:22.559
I don't I just don't have to.
00:33:23.119 --> 00:33:23.440
It did.
00:33:23.680 --> 00:33:23.920
Yeah.
00:33:24.400 --> 00:33:24.640
Yeah.
00:33:24.880 --> 00:33:26.880
I mean, that's just the truth of it.
00:33:26.960 --> 00:33:41.519
It, you know, if you are trusting that God is making a way and he's using everything for your good and his glory, like you just have to trust him and you have to have that conversation because IVF might be right for you, but not for someone else.
00:33:41.680 --> 00:33:44.240
That's a personal decision between you and God.
00:33:44.400 --> 00:33:46.640
So I I really am glad that you said that.
00:33:46.799 --> 00:33:58.000
And I just want to say, like, if you're hearing all of this conversation and you're thinking, I don't know where to start, I would say just start asking different questions.
00:33:58.319 --> 00:34:04.319
Stop asking, like, what's wrong with me, and say, like, what have I missed, you know?
00:34:04.480 --> 00:34:16.400
And that's where you can dive into the book with curiosity and take some of the shame away and some of the guilt, because I'm sure that um a lot of women feel that, you know.
00:34:16.559 --> 00:34:21.360
I know I do in my health journey, and I hear that from women struggling with fertility.
00:34:21.519 --> 00:34:29.760
So we just have to let all of that go and start to be kind to ourselves and trust that God is making a way for us.
00:34:30.000 --> 00:34:36.880
So I would love for you to read your prayer that you put in the book because it's so powerful.
00:34:37.199 --> 00:34:39.599
Yeah, I also want to say, too, about prayer.
00:34:39.679 --> 00:34:45.760
You mentioned it several times and prayer warriors, like be in community, like don't try to go through this by yourself.
00:34:45.840 --> 00:34:47.199
Like, ask for prayer.
00:34:48.079 --> 00:34:50.880
And when you can't, I mean, there were times where I was just mad at God.
00:34:50.960 --> 00:34:52.639
I was just frustrated, like, what else?
00:34:52.800 --> 00:34:58.159
I mean, my husband literally was like, I don't know anyone else who had would go through this much to bring a child into the world.
00:34:58.320 --> 00:34:59.920
Like, when are we giving up?
00:35:00.079 --> 00:35:04.559
Like, when and when I couldn't, I say that to say, like, I did get discouraged.
00:35:04.639 --> 00:35:07.360
I don't want this to seem like this was some beautiful, easy journey.
00:35:07.440 --> 00:35:08.480
This was hard as heck.
00:35:08.559 --> 00:35:19.199
Like, but when I couldn't pray for myself, like you're saying, pull in that community, whether it's your community group from church or your parents or whatever, that's when I leaned on others to pray for me when I couldn't do it myself.
00:35:19.440 --> 00:35:19.679
Yeah.
00:35:19.840 --> 00:35:21.119
So it that that's okay.
00:35:21.280 --> 00:35:24.079
And if you feel shameful, like I I totally felt that.
00:35:24.159 --> 00:35:26.960
I feel like a hypocrite because I was helping others get pregnant and I couldn't get pregnant.
00:35:27.039 --> 00:35:28.239
So I was thinking, what's wrong with me?
00:35:28.320 --> 00:35:29.760
But I needed to reframe that.
00:35:29.920 --> 00:35:31.039
I'm not a failure.
00:35:31.119 --> 00:35:34.000
Yeah, I just God just had a different plan over my life.
00:35:34.559 --> 00:35:35.840
And that this book, right?
00:35:36.000 --> 00:35:37.440
Like you birthed two things.
00:35:37.599 --> 00:35:39.280
You birthed your son and this book.
00:35:39.519 --> 00:35:43.440
And so that's why it was so painful and trying.
00:35:43.599 --> 00:35:44.239
Absolutely.
00:35:44.480 --> 00:35:48.159
That's why God put you through all that for this book and for all the women that you're gonna see.
00:35:48.639 --> 00:35:49.920
No, I just didn't see it then.
00:35:50.079 --> 00:35:53.440
Yeah, but I I also want to say faith and science aren't opposites.
00:35:53.599 --> 00:35:54.800
Back to like what you were saying.
00:35:54.960 --> 00:35:57.920
Like, you know, we need medicine, we need faith too.
00:35:58.000 --> 00:36:02.400
It you don't have to just go one way or the other, like we need both.
00:36:03.760 --> 00:36:05.280
So, yeah, I just wanted to conclude on that.
00:36:05.360 --> 00:36:08.000
But I'm happy to read read that prayer.
00:36:08.079 --> 00:36:13.519
And if you're trying to conceive, I'm gonna read this saying I, but you know, get the book, you can read it.
00:36:13.760 --> 00:36:19.679
I didn't change the the verbiage here, so I'm just gonna read this as is in the book, and then you can certainly get in and read it over your life too.
00:36:19.840 --> 00:36:20.960
So I'm gonna read it.
00:36:21.199 --> 00:36:21.360
Yeah.
00:36:23.199 --> 00:36:29.280
Dear Heavenly Father, creator of all life, I come before you with both my hopes and my heartaches on this fertility journey.
00:36:29.519 --> 00:36:37.199
You formed each of us with intricate care, knitting us together in our mother's wombs and I trust that you see and know every cell of my body and every longing of my heart.
00:36:37.599 --> 00:36:39.599
Lord, I ask for your healing touch on my body.
00:36:39.760 --> 00:36:42.639
Where there's imbalance, bring harmony, where there's inflammation, bring peace.
00:36:42.800 --> 00:36:45.119
Where there's dysfunction, restore your perfect design.
00:36:45.280 --> 00:36:51.360
Let every system work as you intended, from the deepest cellular processes to the complex dance of hormones that sustains life.
00:36:52.000 --> 00:36:59.760
Grant wisdom to my health care providers, guide their minds to see beyond symptoms to root causes, direct my path to the right treatments, interventions, and supportive care.
00:37:00.000 --> 00:37:03.360
When I face decisions, illuminate the way that leads to wholeness in life.
00:37:03.679 --> 00:37:05.920
Father, strengthen me emotionally for this journey.
00:37:06.079 --> 00:37:08.559
On days where disappointment weighs heavy, be my comfort.
00:37:08.719 --> 00:37:10.639
When anxiety rises, be my peace.
00:37:10.880 --> 00:37:13.360
When waiting seems endless, be my patience.
00:37:13.920 --> 00:37:18.159
Help me remain present in each day rather than losing today's blessings to tomorrow's worries.
00:37:19.039 --> 00:37:24.320
I pray for my relationship with my partner or spouse, that this journey would bring us closer rather than pulling us apart.
00:37:24.559 --> 00:37:29.519
Help us communicate with honesty and tenderness, supporting each other through every high and every low.
00:37:29.840 --> 00:37:36.239
Lord, I surrender my timeline to you, trusting that your perfect timing that your timing is perfect, even when I don't understand.
00:37:36.480 --> 00:37:42.800
I release my grip on control, knowing that while I can take steps forward towards healing, ultimately new life comes from you alone.
00:37:43.679 --> 00:37:45.280
If it's your will, bless us with a child.
00:37:45.440 --> 00:37:48.320
Prepare our home, our hearts, and our bodies to nurture new life.
00:37:48.559 --> 00:37:54.159
And if our path to parenthood looks different than we imagined, give us the courage and clarity to follow where you lead.
00:37:54.639 --> 00:37:59.119
Thank you for walking alongside me through every test, treatment, hope, and heartbreak.
00:37:59.360 --> 00:38:03.760
Thank you for your promise to work all things together for good for those who love you.
00:38:04.480 --> 00:38:08.000
I choose to trust you today with both my fertility and my future.
00:38:08.079 --> 00:38:09.440
In your holy name I pray.
00:38:10.079 --> 00:38:10.639
Amen.
00:38:10.880 --> 00:38:11.360
Amen.
00:38:11.519 --> 00:38:12.000
I love it.
00:38:12.400 --> 00:38:12.639
So good.
00:38:13.920 --> 00:38:14.239
Yeah.
00:38:15.519 --> 00:38:16.320
So good.
00:38:16.800 --> 00:38:17.440
Wow.
00:38:19.039 --> 00:38:30.239
So I want to say to everyone listening, we always encourage them to meditate on one scripture for the day and even the week.
00:38:30.559 --> 00:38:37.440
And when I read that prayer last night, I just thought of Psalm 139, 13 and 14.
00:38:37.760 --> 00:38:40.719
For you created my inmost being.
00:38:40.880 --> 00:38:43.760
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
00:38:44.079 --> 00:38:48.079
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
00:38:49.039 --> 00:38:58.480
So meditate on that this week, ladies, and go out, get your fertility blueprint, get to work.
00:38:58.960 --> 00:39:01.760
Um, you don't have to struggle anymore.
00:39:01.920 --> 00:39:08.800
Like you just need to hop on this other path, you know, and get some answers to your root cause issues.
00:39:08.960 --> 00:39:16.880
We need to dig deeper and trust that God is making our paths straight and bringing us the resources.
00:39:17.119 --> 00:39:20.239
So thank you so much, Stephanie.
00:39:21.360 --> 00:39:22.559
Well, thank you for having me on.
00:39:22.639 --> 00:39:25.360
I do want to tell the listeners there, I do have a bunch of great book bonuses.
00:39:25.679 --> 00:39:26.639
Yeah, let's see.
00:39:27.760 --> 00:39:33.760
The prayer, there's a lab guide, essentially of all you know, testing resources you can take to your doctor, what you should have run.
00:39:33.920 --> 00:39:35.840
There's a fertility supplement protocol.
00:39:36.000 --> 00:39:37.760
Sorry, I keep losing my voice.
00:39:38.159 --> 00:39:43.920
Um, renovation timeline planner, the checklist you mentioned, anti-inflammatory um fertility meal plan.
00:39:44.159 --> 00:39:50.320
So if you get the book and you go to your fertilityblueprint.com, just put in your order number and you get all those downloads very quickly.
00:39:50.559 --> 00:39:52.559
And I also have a code.
00:39:52.719 --> 00:39:58.639
We didn't talk about this ahead of time, but yeah, use code, use code FAITH for 10% off.
00:39:59.039 --> 00:40:05.039
Um, the book is at your longevityblueprint.com, but you can find it by going to your fertility blueprint, it'll redirect you there.
00:40:05.199 --> 00:40:08.480
So, yes, just for the listeners, do not give up hope.
00:40:08.719 --> 00:40:09.760
Do not give up hope.
00:40:09.920 --> 00:40:12.239
Just know that persistence matters more than perfection.
00:40:12.320 --> 00:40:14.079
Again, faith and science aren't opposites.
00:40:14.239 --> 00:40:20.480
Every setback is going to teach you something, and the journey is going to change you in ways that the destination never could.
00:40:20.639 --> 00:40:21.679
So hang in there.
00:40:21.840 --> 00:40:24.719
Know that wellness is waiting, and so is your family.
00:40:25.360 --> 00:40:27.599
Oh my gosh, what a good episode.
00:40:27.679 --> 00:40:28.639
Are you okay, Ashley?
00:40:28.880 --> 00:40:29.519
Yeah, I'm okay.
00:40:30.880 --> 00:40:32.719
I I want to hear from you really quick.
00:40:32.800 --> 00:40:35.679
I know we're supposed to close, but I'm okay.
00:40:36.800 --> 00:40:37.360
I'm okay.
00:40:37.679 --> 00:40:38.000
Okay.
00:40:38.559 --> 00:40:49.199
I I think that you represent millions of women and their families, you know, even though it's not happening to you, you feel for your loved ones.
00:40:49.519 --> 00:40:52.800
And um God is so good.
00:40:53.039 --> 00:40:54.239
Yeah, He just really is.
00:40:54.400 --> 00:40:57.679
Yeah, like Stephanie, you are an incredible blessing.
00:40:57.840 --> 00:41:04.800
Thank you for birthing this because um it's going to heal so many women, just countless women.
00:41:04.960 --> 00:41:06.400
It just blows my mind.
00:41:06.639 --> 00:41:13.119
And this is very much the son that you're giving back to the temple to do God's work.
00:41:13.280 --> 00:41:16.960
Like all I can see right now is Samuel as this book.
00:41:17.119 --> 00:41:18.800
So now I'm gonna cry.
00:41:18.960 --> 00:41:19.199
Okay.
00:41:19.679 --> 00:41:20.400
Thank you, girl.
00:41:20.800 --> 00:41:24.559
If you're listening, share this with someone, just like Ashley knows someone who's struggling.
00:41:24.800 --> 00:41:27.599
Even if you're not struggling, I mean, one in six couples struggle.
00:41:27.679 --> 00:41:30.719
So please, yeah, the only way we're gonna get this message out is to share it.
00:41:30.800 --> 00:41:33.920
So thank you for bringing me on today to have the opportunity to share this.
00:41:34.159 --> 00:41:35.119
Appreciate your feedback.
00:41:35.199 --> 00:41:36.239
Thank you for endorsing the book.
00:41:36.400 --> 00:41:37.840
Yes, yes, God bless.
00:41:38.159 --> 00:41:38.880
Awesome, ladies.
00:41:39.039 --> 00:41:40.800
Go be Christ hands to serve.
00:41:40.880 --> 00:41:44.320
Share this with every woman you know who needs this message today.
00:41:44.719 --> 00:41:45.840
Bye, ladies.
00:41:50.639 --> 00:41:55.039
If you like that episode, I have one favor to ask, maybe two.
00:41:55.440 --> 00:41:59.199

00:41:59.360 --> 00:42:06.960

00:42:07.119 --> 00:42:08.800

I will see you in the Fast of Faith Sisterhood.
00:42:23.679 --> 00:42:24.639
