Speaker 1: Maderna, rising after the pharmaceutical manufacturer reported fourth quarter revenue the beat estimates. The company is saying it captured a greater share of the covid vaccine market in the fall. What It also expects regulators to approve its second commercial product this year, a vaccine for RSV CEO Stephan Bansal called in twenty twenty three a quote year of transition as we adapted to the endemic market. Stephane a place to say, catch u up with us again. It's definitely been a wonderful front of this program over the last year or so. It's great to catch up with you again, sir. I just want to go to that market share story around COVID vaccines. How did you do that? Where did that come from?
00:00:34
Speaker 2: So a lot of hard.
00:00:35
Speaker 3: Work and also being able to communicate two doctors that the two amount vaccines are not the same, and so if you look at the real world evidence, we have actually less hospitalization of people on the modern vaccine than the over vaccine. We've also been partnering with pharmacies to make sure we get the message out. So the team has done a lot of different activities to ensure that we get the share that we think we deserve. We had thirty percent share in twenty twenty two, and we're very pleased to have forty eight percent share in the fall of twenty twenty four.
00:01:09
Speaker 4: Stefan, do your investors still ask about COVID vaccines or are they're much more interested in, say a melanoma vaccine or some sort of using this technology to prevent cancer.
00:01:21
Speaker 2: I mean both.
00:01:22
Speaker 3: If you think about MODERNA, very much more to MODERNA than COVID. So on the one hand, they want to understand the COVID sales and how we're going to grow the COVID sales and layer on that ursv sales and the food sales because the respiratory franchise is going to be a nand court to MODERNA forever because those virus are not leaving the planet. But of course we are very excited about the future. I mean, we have a nine product in le search pipe plane if liing cancer. But also you know we are genetic disease, and so it's a very exciting time for MODERNA because they're getting the existing products, but they're looking forward to the sales growth delivered by the pipeline.
00:01:57
Speaker 4: So on one hand, when you talk when you talk about RSV, are we talk about COVID. There's the question we were talking about regulatory risk, the regulatory boon of say the CDC is coming out and recommending that everybody get these shots every year or mandating it for certain positions. Are you expecting that to be the case with things like RSV?
00:02:15
Speaker 3: I mean, if you're about ours, it is mostly a risk for the elderly and the very young children. So I think the current guidelines know of vaccinations for the elderly makes a lot of sense.
00:02:26
Speaker 2: And we were all very surprised.
00:02:28
Speaker 3: Actually about the number of people who got the RSB shot last year.
00:02:32
Speaker 2: You know, it was much higher than any analysts forecasted.
00:02:36
Speaker 3: So we're very excited because not only with a great product in efficacy, a very good safety profile, but if a product is approved by the regulators, which could come as early as mid twelve, that's the AfD to do. For date, we could be the only product available to healthcare professional in a pre fill syringe, and that's really important. As you know, there's a lot of label short helps in healthcare professional, especially very cute in pharmacy retail chains, and if you think about the full season the pharmacies are very busy.
00:03:08
Speaker 2: They have to do the usual work.
00:03:10
Speaker 3: There's a lot of products for people and through shots and COVID shots and now OURSV shots, but the two products available on the market are pretty tedious. One of them is nine steps of preparation. The O one is four steps of proporation when Moderna again, if approved, will be the only.
00:03:28
Speaker 2: Product that is pre fill syringe.
00:03:30
Speaker 3: You take it out of the fridge, you clean the arm, you inject it, you put a bat day, you are done. I really believe that healthcare professional are going to be delighted with our product, Sepan.
00:03:39
Speaker 5: That's what I want to ask you. You mentioned COVID flow RSV. So many vaccines individuals need to get in the winter, so if you had this one shot, it would save a lot of time and frankly, it'd be a lot easier probably in appetizing people to actually go out and get it. But what is the timeline when can we see that actually go to market?
00:03:57
Speaker 3: So that's one of the other exciting news coming for twenty four is we shared last year the phase two data of our COVID plus through combo in a single dose. We should see this year the phase three data. Based on the platform that we have and what we've seen with COVID, with URSV and THROUGH, I expect the Phase.
00:04:15
Speaker 2: Three to be positive.
00:04:17
Speaker 3: If it is positive, we will finally to regulate all so you could see these available in pharmacies as early as a fall of twenty five. So that's another exciting differentiation. We will have use traditional THROUGH playoffs and traditional COVID playoffs.
00:04:30
Speaker 1: Stephan, I know we're against the clock with you. You've got a busy morning. I just want to squeeze the same the RSV shot. What are you learning about the durability the protection offers because as we understand based on recent reports coming from you, maybe it doesn't last as long as the competitor and they're offering does. So it makes me wonder does that effect approval? Is that going to affect your competition against that competitor as you want to roll that one out.
00:04:56
Speaker 3: Actually, if you look at the data, we're very confident about our profile and if you look the data of your vaccine, they also wane.
00:05:03
Speaker 2: And so if you.
00:05:03
Speaker 3: Look at what we're going to have in the marketplace, I think it's going to be very very similar to what's available today.
00:05:09
Speaker 2: So I don't think that's going to be an issue at all.
00:05:11
Speaker 1: Stephan got to leave it there. We promised that you'd escape for the band seven thirty eight, so you can. Stefan Bansal, the Maturner CEO. Thanks Stefan, great to catch out. Thank you, sir,
