Speaker 1: Hi everyone.
00:00:48
Speaker 2: I'm David Chadwick and this is one O seven point nine FMWBT, Charlotte's FM news talk Radio. Great to be with you today. This is a faith and values program that I've been doing here on WBT for over twenty six years. It's hard to believe, and I think I'm one of the longest, if not the longest radio show on this station. And I have enjoyed trying to speak to you about faith and values issues in the world and to help us learn how we can handle them, learn from them, and do a good job making sure we are looking at life through a biblical worldview. In case you don't know, I'm a pastor of a local church here called Moments of Hope Church. I love being a pastor. I love teaching and speaking on God's word, and I love addressing cultural issues that are before us, which is what I want to do today. I've asked my producer and friend ed Billick, to open up his microphone during this hour and address the subject of Pride Month. This month of June is Pride Month. Interestingly, it is something that is now universally accepted. We saw just this past week how Major League Baseball has every team except one that Texas Rangers have a Pride in life and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Every player on the team had a Pride cap on except two who refused to wear it because they did not think they should give condoning something they did not believe in their own hearts as Christians was correct. So it is a hot topic. It has been going on for several years now, especially since June was declared Pride Month. I don't know who declared it, I don't know where that came from, but every day of the month is honoring this whole LGBTQ plus plus plus movement that is out there. Something I think that is a rebellion against God's created order that has outlined in Genesis chapters one and two, which we'll talk about a little later on in this show. But I do want to make sure as we address this subject that I don't come across as hateful. I have gay friends. I love them, I care for them. They're created in the image of God, and I think that's important to note. On the other hand, I can love them and still say I think the practicing of that lifestyle is not in accordance with God's word. But let's look at this whole Pride Month and try to understand it in great depth. And ed, I don't know where it came from. I'm not sure who started it, how it got going. I do know that the whole snowball of the LGDPQ plus plus movement started about fifteen years ago. When the Oberka Fell decision was made in twenty fifteen regarding gay marriage. I think that's when it really took on some supersonic acceptance by more and more in the culture. I think around two thousand you saw there be Acts of Congress saying no marriage is between a man and a woman. And then with the Oberka Fell decision, I think it became more and more accepted in our culture. And that then brought all of these different partners together, the gay and lesbian, the transgender, and whatever movement else comes as a part of that, together in this Pride Month. And what bothers me a bit is, as you look at Pride Month, there's no other movement in our culture, in our world that has a full month devoted to it. I mean, I stop and think about Veterans Day November the eleventh, to honor our veterans who've served around the world to bet fight wars for our freedom. They have one day. We have one day to honor our independence as a nation. On July the fourth, we have one day to honor Memorial Day those who've died for our nation.
00:04:27
Speaker 1: But yet we have now a.
00:04:28
Speaker 2: Full month where every single day of June is promoting Pride Month. And your thoughts as we enter into the subject.
00:04:34
Speaker 3: I don't want to be too light here, but one day to celebrate the Irish Sir Patrick's there you go in class, But yeah, the point is why a whole month? And I think about for Christians Christmas, Eastern Pentecost, you have those one day events.
00:04:51
Speaker 4: Why a month now? Black History Month?
00:04:53
Speaker 3: I think is great because okay, let's focus on all the historical stuff.
00:04:57
Speaker 4: That we really never knew. But yeah, I'm what's the purpose?
00:05:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, it seems like it's cramming it down our throats if we don't necessarily agree with that particular lifestyle, and when it's just pushed upon you and you have no ability to respond except to object privately, you feel like you're being forced to believe something that you really don't believe in. That's not the American way. I mean, we don't have a full month that's devoted to marriage between a man and a woman. And if you want to die tribe. For me, the destruction of marriage in the family is at the heart of so much of what we will have as problems in America in the decades to come. I would love to have a full month devoted to the beauty of family and how important it is for mom and dads to love one another. I'll never forget my daddy saying to me the night before I married Marylyn, which was almost forty eight years ago. We just celebrate our forty eighth anniversary. He said to me, son, if God should give you children one day, the greatest gift you can give your children is to love their mother. I've never gotten that, and I've stayed loyal and faithful to my wife, raised three kids, now have twelve grandkids, and we really believe in the passing on of legacy to our kids, our grandkids, and one of those huge legacies is the value of marriage and the family and the importance of it. In theological terms, ed it's called subsidiarianism, and what that means is the best decisions are made in the smallest unit, not the federal government, not the state government, not even city government. The best decisions are made in the smallest unit which God created.
00:06:31
Speaker 1: He created the.
00:06:32
Speaker 2: Family to be that unit. And when it is strong, the nation is strong. So as we look at Pride Month, and I try to help all of our listeners today understand the rootage of human sexuality biblically, what God intended human sexuality in original intent to be. As we look at that, when we come back from the break, I hope it will stimulate everybody not to hate people who are gay, but to challenge them and to say this kind of lifestyle that's promoted, that's pushed down the throats of Americans, it cannot go any place that's really healthy in the long run. What's getting eroded is first of all, people practicing sexuality in any way that they want without any boundaries. The second thing is marriage, and the family is being eroded, and that folks cannot allow for a healthy nation in the years to come. So Ed Billick and I will look at what does the Bible say about human sexuality, how we got to this place in our culture, and what can we do in order to make God's will his will here on this earth to understand his original intent and see it practiced in our lives. That's our goal today. I'm David Chadwick. This is one oh seven point nine FMWBT. Will be right back.
00:09:07
Speaker 5: The working for my good. Yeah, because he's intent, never failing. I know the thing, the working for my good. Yeah, he's intent enough, never failing out things.
00:09:31
Speaker 2: I always choke with my congregation Moments of Hope Church that in that verse Romans eight twenty eight, all things work together for my good. For those of us who loved the Lord and recalled according to his purpose, all means all all things work for good.
00:09:48
Speaker 1: Hi.
00:09:48
Speaker 2: Everyone, I'm David Chadwick and this is one O seven point nine FMWBT, Charlotte's FM News Talk. Welcome back to the show. And I've asked my producer and friend ed Billick to open up his microphone and join me in this discussion about why do we devote a whole month to pride. I mean, it is the rainbow color flag, It is the acceptance of the LGTBQ plus plus plus and they add them on all the time in our culture and in our lives and for people of faith, I can only speak for myself. I feel like this is getting crammed down my throat every single day for an entire month. And what I don't understand is we have one day to honor our veterans in America. We have one day to honor our independence in America. We have now a whole month to honor something that many people do not think is God's original intent and God's will. Now, I want to be respectful for those of you who may be in that lifestyle. I don't want to be angry. I don't want to come across that way to you. Yet, I've got to go to the scripture. I've got to go to the Bible, which is my commitment, and try to understand what it teaches about this subject. Now, now here's something that's interesting. I'm going to begin this segment with this. As you look at what's going on in the world, or many people go, are we getting near the end? For example, Israel's been restored to their land in nineteen forty eight. That was a prophecy that was fulfilled in Isaiah sixty six eight. You look at the Ezekiel thirty eight war that's going to come against Israel. There'll be three nations primarily coming together for that war, Russia, Iran, Turkey, along with Libya and Syria. Now what's interesting there is not in the history of the world has this prophecy been fulfilled that Russia, Turkey, and Iran especially have come together in an anger against Israel. We kind of see that fomenting right now. Isaiah seventeen one says that Damascus as a city is going to be destroyed completely in ruins. Well, that hasn't happened yet yet. It is at the epicenter of a lot of the conflict there in the Mid East. We look at the constant jabber about peace and security between Iran and Israel, the United States trying to broker deals with Lebanon and Hesbela, et cetera. Peace and security. Peace and security, Well those words come directly from Thessalonians saying that indi end times, there's going to be a lot of talk about peace and security. There's going to be Trump disclassifying all of these UFO files, and what does that mean for in times kind of reality that's not been done before until Trump has done that. But what's interesting for me on our subject today is on June the first through the fourth, the largest LGTBQ plus pride event in the history of the Mideast happened at the very place where Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God for that kind of practice. If you look at Luke seventeen, verses twenty eight through thirty, Jesus says that in his end times coming back, it's going to be as in the days of Lot. Well, what are the days of Lot? Well? Lot lived in Sodom, and God's judgment was brought against Sodom and because of their practices, yes, yes, along with their lack of inhospitality. That's another verse in Ezekiel that says with the reason for Sodom and Gomora's destruction. But the primary reason, folks, if you look biblically at God's destruction of Sodom and Gomora, was their practices of human sexuality, how they had moved away from a heterosexual sexuality to a homosexual sexuality. And God's ultimate judgment brought upon that city was when two angels went in to get Lot out of that city because God's destruction was gonna happen, and the people there looked at those angels and wanted to have unnatural affections with them, and as a result of that, God said enough done. Lot got out and certain members of his family, and his destruction came upon them, fire and brimstone upon Sodom and Gomorrah. And again this gay pride event on June the first through the fourth almost like looking at God in the face and saying, we're not going to believe that anything you do in judgment is real against those of us who practiced this kind of wrong sexuality. And yet in the plains of Sodom and gomor was the largest gay pride event in the history of the Mideast there ed. I just don't think that's particularly by THEO. I think there is something in that that is in your face to God, and I don't think is necessarily right.
00:14:12
Speaker 4: And how is that helpful?
00:14:13
Speaker 2: Well, it's not helpful to them, No, it's not. And it's in the Mideast, that holy land that God chose for his people to en dwell in order to bring Jesus into the world, to have him die for our sins and give us the gift of eternal life. So to me, it is something that I find offensive and I go, what's going on in our world? And it forces me to go back to well, what is God's original intent? I think the most important two chapters of the Bible are Genesis one and two. I believe that if I was on a desert island with any of you people out there, and you said to me, David, I want to learn God's word. I've got an hour to live, what would you teach me? And here's folks, what I would do. I'd spend fifty five minutes of that hour teaching you about Genesis one and two, and I'd spend five minutes teaching you Genesis three. Through the rest of the Bible, it is so important to understand God's creation mandate that he gives to us in Genesis one and two. When God created the heavens and the earth, he gave certain boundaries that are outlined in Genesis one and two. And let me give you two clear boundaries that God outlined there in Genesis one and two. The first one is that he made us male and female. That there are two genders, and two genders alone, we are male and female. There's no place in God's economy for a man in women's spaces. There's no place in God's world for a man to be competing against women in sports, for these young girls who've worked so hard to get a trophy someplace, somehow, maybe even a scholarship to college, and have a man who has more body mass, of muscle, more testosterone in order to compete against them, to take away from them that which they have earned. So the Bible is very clear in Genesis one twenty seven that there's one two genders, a man and a woman, and two genders alone. There is no place in God's biblical economy for gender fluidity. That there are three hundred different genders. One person recently said there are six hundred different genders between man and woman, and I just find that absolutely ludicrous. The Bible could not be more perspiscuitous, as they say fancy theological word, which means clear. The Bible could not be more clear that there are two and only two genders. And when we start teaching something different than that, culture goes off the rails.
00:16:44
Speaker 4: I sit here listening, So who's really believing all that?
00:16:47
Speaker 2: And a large part of our culture is this LGTDQ plus plus movement that has now the month of June devoted to their gender, but.
00:16:55
Speaker 3: All the different genders I mean, I I just maybe because I'm so far removed from that. It's just like to me, it's you're opening our eyes here.
00:17:04
Speaker 2: Well, you and I have a biblical worldview. We look at life through the lenses of the Bible. And so the Bible clearly teaches that. The second truth of Genesis chapter two and how God ends creation order is Genesis two twenty four. And in Genesis two twenty four, God says marriage is supposed to occur, and a husband shall leave his family and cleave unto his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. And that's what the Bible teaches. Marriage should be one man, one woman in a committed heterosexual, monogamous relationship. They both leave their families, They come together in a public worship service. They make extraordinary promises to one another. Ed that you made to your wife of Jackie four, what is it forty four years now that I made to Maryland in nineteen seventy eight, forty eight years And I said, Maryland, you know what, I'm with you forever better worse, sickness and health, rich or poor, as long as we both shall live. I'm in this thing. Back door's locked from the outside how.
00:18:08
Speaker 3: About Joseph, And why do you want Heed to betroth Mary even though you know she became pregnant. He says, no, you and I are together together. It's one of the original families that we look to.
00:18:17
Speaker 2: We look to that because God ordered him to stay in that relationship even though she was pregnant. By the power of the Holy Spirit, he remained faithful to her in that marriage relationship. And marri Ollan said that to me, And we've been faithful to one another in our forty eight years to one another. But God's design was for sex to be used after that public commitment had been made between the man and the woman get married. Then you have sexual intimacies for the purpose. Genesis one and two tells us again another creation mandate to be fruitful and multiply for the purpose of creating children, marriage and the family children coming out of that relationship between a man and the family, the health of a society in that family relationship. But it is undeniable that Genesis two twenty four teaches that one man one woman in the committed heterosexual, monogamous relationship. And Jesus states Genesis two twenty four in Matthew nineteen four through six. As he's asked about divorce, he says, does do you not know what God intended in original creation? Do you not know Genesis two? And he quotes that whole idea as well ed let's pursue that farther when we come back. I'm David Chadwick. This is one oh seven point nine FMWBT Radio. Will be right back.
00:21:27
Speaker 5: There's a joy that all our souls because we don't our God is in control of the fun.
00:21:37
Speaker 1: What's your favorite? This is the data made?
00:21:47
Speaker 5: Were the choice?
00:21:51
Speaker 1: This is the data.
00:21:54
Speaker 5: Renice?
00:21:58
Speaker 2: Well, every day is the day that the Lord has made. He's given us all twenty four hours to enjoy. But this day, this Sunday, is a day that the Lord has made. Let's all rejoice and be glad in it and be thankful for these twenty four hours we have to enjoy His goodness. Hi everyone, I'm David Chadwick and this is one oh seven point nine FMWBT enjoying this day that the Lord has made. This is Charlotte's FM News Talk Radio, and I'm so thankful to have this time to be with you. Pretty heavy topic we're dealing with today. The whole pride month. Why they're a whole month that's given to this rainbow flag and the LGT BQ plus plus movement. I just don't understand that when only one day is given to veterans or a memory of people who've given their lives for the freedom of our nation, Memorial Day just doesn't seem to make sense to me. Seems like it's being pushed down my throat. So today's purpose is to give those of us who have a biblical faith a way to respond to people who might have these views, and to be able to give them biblical insights into why we believe what we believe, and engage hopefully in an intellectual conversation with them, expressing love to them because they are people created in the image of God. Though I think in this area of their human sexuality they've got it wrong. Who knows why they are that way. There's no scientific evidence that anyone's ever born that way. I know my gay friends have said to me, Look, if I could choose heterosexuality over homosexuality, I would do so. And yet I think other people have a propensitied alcoholism. There is genetic predispositions that we know that happen that way and other things as well. But we're called to fight those predispositions, not just to accept them. And what's happening in this area, it's being accepted. And I think the dangers to our culture and what could happen with the ultimate demise of human sexuality being used for my purposes, for my desires whenever I want them, and not within the confines of a committed heterosexual marriage, and then the producing of children out of that family. The ramifications of that for our culture, dear friends, are huge. When we think about the practice of sexuality outside of marriage. People fail to realize when two people come together, I don't care who you are, you're leaving a part of yourself on that person, and that person's leaving a part of themselves on you. What erodes is your ability to love long term, to be able to have a thirty forty to fifty year marriage, the ability to love amidst all of the problems you will face in marriage. And the ultimate thing, too, is families are choosing now to have less numbers of children and maybe no children whatsoever. And ed, let's talk for a second about this. What that's going to do to the workforce in America in the years to come is astronomically problematic. It's going to cause a lack of people being available to do the jobs that are necessary in our culture. It's one of the reasons why progressives say, well, let's bring in these immigrants from the other nations to do these jobs that we just don't have enough people to do well. That only then eventually erodes the nation that we've known and cared for in some way or another. But the other problem as well is we don't have colleges that can stay open if we don't keep having children. We don't have schools or even public schools have the ability to stay open with the number of kids who aren't there. The fewer number of kids are going to be felt in a decade or two in these different areas, jobs, education, our culture will erode to difficulties we've never imagined before with this redefinition of what human sexuality is. Do you have any thoughts?
00:25:48
Speaker 4: Wasn't it China here? What was it?
00:25:50
Speaker 2: The one child policy?
00:25:52
Speaker 1: Yeah?
00:25:52
Speaker 4: Right?
00:25:52
Speaker 3: And now they're understand from what you read now, they're insenting couples to have children by financially giving them government money or whatever, because they see how that is turning their culture in a very bad way.
00:26:05
Speaker 2: And they're trying to then take care of all the aging people in the nation, and they don't have enough people a to care for them, and they're becoming a burden. And that's why euthanasia is more and more talked about, and I think that opens up yet another door that's not godly whatsoever. And interestingly, ed on the wood child policy in China, you have found that they are not taking the money the government's offering to incentivize them to have two and three children just to replace the numbers that are dying in the workforce. Why, because they've gotten adjusted to this lifestyle of they can do whatever they want to, whenever they want to, and have sex with whomever they want to. And they're not having those two and three children now, they're having just the one, if they're having anyone whatsoever. And you have also the example of Japan, which has gone through this same kind of problem. They sell more diapers for old people than they do young people. That is an absolute fact in Japan right now because they're just not having children. We're following that same script and with this redefinition of human sexuality, this redefinition of the human family. We're only inviting ourselves to some kind of destructive behavior. And so people ask me what do we do? And I say, to young people who are in their eighteen nineteen twenty year old find somebody and fall in love and commit yourself to that person for a long period of time forever, and have children in that relationship. And you have how many children?
00:27:30
Speaker 5: Again?
00:27:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, we got two, and we have three grandchildren.
00:27:33
Speaker 3: And can you imagine? I mean I got a couple friends that never got married. The joy those little grandchildren, and.
00:27:40
Speaker 4: You have how many?
00:27:41
Speaker 2: I have twelve?
00:27:41
Speaker 3: The joy they bring you to see your own children grow and develop and become like, you know, super great adults. That's the joy of watching all that happen in your later years.
00:27:53
Speaker 4: I've got friends that don't have that. So how lonely is that?
00:27:56
Speaker 2: It's sad to see? It really is. And Maryland and I, you know, went through years of infertility. He's told that story so many times. I don't want to say it again. I'm sure many of you were toed ad nauseum, but it was such a powerful moment for us after eight years of waiting to finally conceive and have one, then God to give us two more, and then now to have twelve grandchildren. It's the joy of our lives. But we also know we've done what we need to do in order to populate America and have enough jobs in the future, and then enough children to be able to be educated in order to continue the American dream. And it is a wonderful nation in spite of all of our flaws. It's a wonderful nation.
00:28:35
Speaker 3: It's amazing how we're going down these different I don't call them rabbit holes, but these different offshoots, because it all ties back to the family. This week in Wall Street Journal, they're now worried that it's not twenty thirty three when Social Security is going to become running out of money.
00:28:49
Speaker 4: It's gonna be twenty thirty two. And for a lot of our listeners say, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second, I put a.
00:28:55
Speaker 3: Lot of money into that well in twenty thirty two, So all less people in the workforce.
00:29:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, and let's acknowledge that the reason for this has been the redefinition of human sexuality. Look, you and I are old enough. We remember back in the sixties when birth control became a possibility when abortion became a possibility, when people could live together without being married was a possibility, and then it came to the oberka Feld decision, where now men can marry men and women can marry women. None of this happens in a vacuum. Ed all of these problems we're talking about right now with social securities. Another great illustration of that happened because we as a culture redefine what the Bible clearly teaches is the joy of a man and a woman coming together in marriage, for a lifelong commitment to one another, the production of children and grandchildren in that relationship, not just for the replentification of the world, but also for the joy that it does give all of us. When all of that got redefined and it doesn't happen suddenly.
00:29:56
Speaker 4: Was F. B.
00:29:57
Speaker 2: Meyer, that famous theologian, once said, no one suddenly becomes base. I mean we suddenly move toward godlessness over time. Well, no culture suddenly becomes base. It moves toward godlessness over time. And those of us who lived long enough have seen this unfold. And again we're seeing a whole month devoted to something that we think is deviant from God's original design. And for the health of our culture. And we're again asking the question why what has happened here?
00:30:24
Speaker 3: And you are your your wise to always say when good becomes bad and bad becomes good. In a lot of different a lot of different aspects.
00:30:33
Speaker 2: We redefine what is truly good and what's interesting. In the Bible, you have a verse I think it's in Philippians three where it says, and you as a godless Roman culture. Back then when Paul wrote you glory in your shame, You glory in your shame. Isn't that an interesting phrase? You start to celebrate what you should be shameful about. You start to give great praise to what is godless, and that is always dangerous as well. And when we come back from the next break, I want to talk about Roman's one, which talks about this issue in the Roman culture. And there are those who think that when Rome began to emphasize an over abundance of godless human sexuality was when it began to fall. It had a real commitment to marriage in the family for many, many years, but then there was an over emphasis on human sexuality that began to overtake the culture. And when that occurred, that is when Rome began to slip, by the way, with two other things. An over emphasis on the importance of sports in their lives. Oh but I love sports, but you know what, it can become a god. You've got to be careful about that.
00:31:47
Speaker 4: And the second one, don't you bet on a series between the Nixon's spose.
00:31:52
Speaker 2: You know I watched some of it. I went to bed early the other night when that miracle happened. That's another subject for another time.
00:31:58
Speaker 4: Wouldn't become obsessed with sports?
00:32:00
Speaker 1: Yeah?
00:32:00
Speaker 2: And the and the final ones when the government starts paying people to not work. That's the other one with Rome. Whenever the government starts paying people not to work, that's a danger sign as well. Well. We see that happening in our nation. There's a redestruction of marriage and the family. There is now the over emphasis on sports, and now there's also the government paying people not to work. We are moving down a trail of destruction. We need to be aware of it, folks. I'm David Chadwick. This is one O seven point nine FMWBT will be right back.
00:33:37
Speaker 5: When life has got you going strong, then all of a sudden things are wrong.
00:33:45
Speaker 4: We tend to stumble day to day.
00:33:49
Speaker 1: I wonder when will be okay.
00:33:53
Speaker 4: There are times when we have to just.
00:33:55
Speaker 2: Push throughom.
00:33:58
Speaker 3: And see the light ahead of you.
00:34:02
Speaker 5: When we reach the finishide, we will stand out Ben program.
00:34:11
Speaker 4: Pick me up.
00:34:12
Speaker 2: That's my friend Parker Robinson, who is the worst leader at the church. I passed him almost in Hope Church and he is a gifted young man.
00:34:18
Speaker 4: You love me when.
00:34:24
Speaker 1: Everything, I thank you.
00:34:28
Speaker 2: And we do thank God for all He's given us today and every day. Hi everyone, I'm David Chadwick. This is one oh seven point nine FM WBT, Charlotte's FM News Talk Radio.
00:34:38
Speaker 1: Great to be back with you.
00:34:40
Speaker 4: Yeah, Gill, you mentioned your church. Give a little shout out with time or services.
00:34:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, nine and eleven o'clock Providence Square Shopping Center right off Providence Road. You can find us just a seven nine point a international drive. Just come and be with us. It's a wonderful worship service, a great group of people. Would love to have any of you come join us if ever you would like to. We love God, we love his word, we love serving in the community. We love just being people who love Jesus.
00:35:05
Speaker 3: Before we went to break I'm sitting in my car on one of our your listeners. David, where you put me in a foul move?
00:35:10
Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't mean to do.
00:35:11
Speaker 3: The omens and sports and the degradation of society And David.
00:35:16
Speaker 4: Where do we go from here?
00:35:17
Speaker 2: Well, you know, if we're going to dialogue with people in the world and we're going to hear from them, Oh, this is just an accepted lifestyle and it doesn't make any difference. And it's good to celebrate Pride Month because we need to push back on all of the homophobes that are out there. I think those of us who are people of faith need a biblical argument, need a biblical objective, need a biblical apologetic in order to respond to them. And if they start saying there are hundreds of genders, we say, no, there're too Genesis one twenty seven. If they say no marriage can be between a man and a man and a woman and a woman, we go no. Genesi is two twenty four that Jesus quoted in Matthew nineteen four through six when he was asked about divorce, he said, don't you understand what God originally intended? And he quoted Genesis two twenty four, which is the marriage verse of the Bible, and Paul quotes it in Ephesians five. It must be very important. At the end of the day, Jesus is the bridegroom, the Church is the bride. It's one and one for eternity, union together for life. And I just think we need to know that argument, we need to know how to respond. And another one is in Romans one, where this kind of gross human sexuality was being practiced between men and men and women and women. And Paul in Romans One basically says this all begins when you suppress the truth, when you deny the truth. And for decades, for centuries, America is rooted in a biblical framework that believed there is objective truth. That's another program we'll do at some point, the erosion of objective truth in our culture. And when we stopped believing that marriage is defined between a man and a woman exclusively, and we support pressed the truth of marriage and the family, it invites then any and every perspective to come in and replace it. Nature abhors a vacuum. A culture abhors a vacuum. You eliminate objective truth from a culture, and what will rush in is anybody and everybody's opinion. So in Paul and Romans one, when he addresses this problem in the Roman culture, he says, you, first of all have suppressed truth, and then you have invited views of a man and a man being able to be in relation with one another, and a woman and a woman. And he said, eventually, and three times he says this, Eventually, God gave them over to their lustful desires. God gave them over to their lustful desires. God gave them over to their lustful desires. Three times he says that. So, here's what I believe there, ed is that there's something that I affectionately call burger king theology. Give burger king a plug here. Their mantra for years was have it your way, you know, have your burger your way, have it any way you want it. Well, God is kind of practicing burger king theology. If you will hear when he says to humanity, have it your way, that if we want to go down this slippery slope of moral relativism, if we want to go down the path of denying objective truth in God's word, God will say, have it your way. If you want it that way, you can have it. It's interesting that God will eventually give us our own lustful desires, even when they're contrary to His divine will. But here's the deal. If you go down that road, you will suffer the consequences of those particular decisions. And I think if our culture and the world says one full month of a twelvemonth calendar should be devoted to what God describes as sexual devians from his word, then He'll let us have the ultimate results of that. And we've talked about a few of those today. That's not to be a down er. Ed's just to say, this is the natural consequence of a culture in rebellion against God's created order.
00:39:00
Speaker 4: Talk to us about free will. You just mentioned.
00:39:02
Speaker 3: That's who we are, That's how He created us. We can make the decisions, but there are consequences.
00:39:07
Speaker 2: Well, I believe that God is love, but love can't exist unless there's free choice. You know, I can't have a forty eight year love relationship with my bride unless I know she can freely choose tomorrow to say, David, I don't love you anymore. Otherwise she's an automaton that you wind up every day and.
00:39:24
Speaker 4: She goes, I love you, David, I love you David.
00:39:26
Speaker 2: I mean, that's not real love. It's got to have choice. So God gives us the ability to choose him, to choose his ways, to love him as well. And in that choice, many people have stiff armed God. They have rebelled against God, and they've basically said, I don't love you, I don't want your authority over me. And God is enough of a celestial, eternal gentleman if you will who says, Okay, if that's what you want, have it your way. He gives them over to their desires.
00:39:57
Speaker 4: And you would say, what are the keys to eternal life?
00:39:59
Speaker 2: To those is to choose Jesus. And when his Holy Spirit enters your heart, he starts to conform you Romans eight twenty nine into his image. And what Jesus does is changes us from the inside out. He changes our hearts, which then change our behavior. The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart. When Jesus enters us and dramatically transforms us from our sinfulness into our sinlessness, and walking with him, we become new creations. The whole desire of our lives is not to be served, but to serve and to give our lives away. Can you imagine a culture filled with people who have the love of Jesus inside of them, and they choose to love and not be served. If you have that kind of culture going on in the world, you have a healthy culture that's going to be nothing but continue to grow and be healthier every single way.
00:40:50
Speaker 3: And we know many people like that, David. They're peaceful, they're loving, they're giving, their words are kind. We know you could see that in people.
00:40:57
Speaker 5: Well.
00:40:58
Speaker 2: Jesus said, they are the salt and light of the world. Salt in meat makes meat not only taste deer, but more preserved. It preserves the meat. Salt in our culture is like that kind of meat. It is preserved and it tastes better as well. Light into darkness gives us a way to walk, a way to move forward. Jesus said, I am the light of the world. Then he says to us in Matthew five, you are the light's plural of the world. And as we are in the world, we are giving salt to this world, making it tasteier and more preserved. As we give light to this world, giving ways for people to walk towards holness and life, we truly see this world transformed. Ed I'm a Christian. I'm a follower of Jesus. He's changed my life dramatically from darkness to light, and I just want other people to know that. And in the area of human sexuality as well. And I believe God can change people. I believe you can take people who think they're one way and make them into something else. As Paul said in First Corinthians six, to those who are in sin when they came to the light of Jesus, such were some of you. God can change anyone. So folks, let's have hope. Tell people about Jesus. Know your biblical worldview, know why you believe what you believe. And as you speak to other people in the world who might not believe like you do, have a biblical framework. If they say I don't believe in the Bible, say that's fine, I do, and just keep moving forward with a life that shines. That's different. You're faithful in your marriages, you're faithful in your family, and Jesus as honored as.
00:42:24
Speaker 1: You choose to follow him.
00:42:26
Speaker 2: Thank you for listening today, Ed Billick, thank you as well. This is David Chadwick on one oh seven point nine FMWBT Charlotte FM News talk talk with you all next week.
