Katie Toe.
00:00:28.079 --> 00:00:29.199
Hi, I'm Dr.
00:00:29.280 --> 00:00:33.200
Katie Toe and welcome to the Wellness Dentist Podcast.
00:00:33.359 --> 00:00:36.240
I'm so excited for you guys today because we have Dr.
00:00:36.479 --> 00:00:37.600
Dawn Ewing.
00:00:37.920 --> 00:00:38.240
Dr.
00:00:38.320 --> 00:00:56.479
Dawn Ewing is not only the expert in biological dentistry, she's the executive director of the IABDM and also my personal naturopath and health care provider that helping me going through this wellness journey.
00:00:56.640 --> 00:00:57.439
So, Dr.
00:00:57.600 --> 00:00:59.600
Dawn, thank you so much for being here today.
00:00:59.920 --> 00:01:01.119
I'm excited to be here.
00:01:01.280 --> 00:01:01.679
Yes.
00:01:01.759 --> 00:01:02.240
So, Dr.
00:01:02.320 --> 00:01:06.159
Dawn, can you share with our listener a little bit about yourself?
00:01:06.480 --> 00:01:16.319
Yeah, I started off in dentistry as a dental hygienist, went through the UTDB and got out and got super involved with all that conventional world.
00:01:16.560 --> 00:01:20.319
I was a member of the hygiene association.
00:01:20.480 --> 00:01:27.680
I got appointed by the governor of Texas to be on the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners for two years.
00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:34.400
And I don't know, dentistry just didn't excite me as much as some other things did.
00:01:34.480 --> 00:01:37.920
So I got involved in emergency medicine, which is pretty exciting.
00:01:38.159 --> 00:01:42.239
You get to ride on an ambulance, and you know, things don't happen in dental office.
00:01:42.400 --> 00:01:45.439
Thank goodness bad things don't happen in a dental office.
00:01:45.760 --> 00:01:48.799
But it really made you think on your feet.
00:01:49.120 --> 00:01:58.159
And after being in emergency medicine for quite some time, I got exposed to the world of naturopaths and more complementary medicine.
00:01:58.319 --> 00:02:03.840
And oddly enough, a lot of people were having problems with their health because of their teeth.
00:02:04.079 --> 00:02:20.479
And that took me on another path to then pursue a PhD in integrative medicine, which kind of marries both worlds because there are a lot of health problems that are caused by teeth, and a lot of people that have tooth problems because of health issues.
00:02:20.719 --> 00:02:22.080
So it goes both ways.
00:02:22.400 --> 00:02:22.879
Yeah.
00:02:23.199 --> 00:02:31.039
And a lot of listeners and audience are probably going to know you from a very popular documentary a couple of years ago.
00:02:31.280 --> 00:02:35.280
Yes, root cause blew the roof off, literally.
00:02:35.520 --> 00:02:40.560
Root canals are, you know, your body was never designed to have something dead in it.
00:02:40.719 --> 00:02:50.000
And there is a consequence, not for everybody, but if you have a compromised immune system and you've got bacteria that's inside those root canals.
00:02:50.240 --> 00:02:59.520
And I think the misgiving for most people is that when a root canal is done, it's sterile and that it will always be sterile.
00:02:59.759 --> 00:03:07.360
You're taking out the nerve and the blood supply and the lymphatics inside the tooth, but there is no way to get all the flesh out.
00:03:07.439 --> 00:03:12.159
Even with all the cool tools that we have with gentle wave, we can't get everything out.
00:03:12.319 --> 00:03:19.520
And that bacteria is put on this planet by God Himself to scavenge dead flesh, and somehow it ends up inside that tooth.
00:03:19.759 --> 00:03:27.120
We know that when we take out teeth and we test them and we send them off, we have yet to find a sterile tooth.
00:03:27.280 --> 00:03:28.560
It just doesn't happen.
00:03:28.719 --> 00:03:38.719
That bacteria ends up in there, it's anaerobic, it lives without oxygen, it's in a dark, moist, warm environment with lots of food, and therefore it propagates.
00:03:38.879 --> 00:03:53.919
And then as you chew, every single time you push down on that tooth, that bacteria mushes out, that's our medical term, and ends up in your blood system, circulating and can set up a secondary infection someplace else in your body.
00:03:54.159 --> 00:03:58.639
So it is true that root canals can cause a problem for people.
00:03:58.719 --> 00:04:09.759
Now, I'm not advocating that every person get every root canal tooth removed because I think that's a bad move, but it needs to be evaluated to see if it is a problem for you.
00:04:09.919 --> 00:04:16.319
And if it is, then okay, then you're gonna end up losing a tooth, and we have options for that as well.
00:04:16.560 --> 00:04:16.879
Yeah.
00:04:17.120 --> 00:04:29.439
And I can definitely add on to that that every single rook canal that we take out in the office, we send it into a lab called DNA Connections in Colorado and it get tested, and the result come back.
00:04:29.680 --> 00:04:36.800
And patients and their physicians always reach out and say, I could not believe these are from the ricano teeth.
00:04:37.040 --> 00:04:37.839
It's unbelievable.
00:04:37.920 --> 00:04:49.279
When you look at the list of the bacteria that are in there and the patient's been trying to find out what's wrong with them, all of a sudden you find borelia, which is lime, inside a tooth.
00:04:49.360 --> 00:04:51.519
And you're going, how in the world did it get there?
00:04:51.759 --> 00:04:53.120
But some people can deal with it.
00:04:53.199 --> 00:04:58.240
You know, when my patients ask, I tell them there are people that are 105 that are smoking.
00:04:58.480 --> 00:05:02.399
I wouldn't tell them that they have to smoke or stop smoking.
00:05:03.199 --> 00:05:05.519
Their immune system is just completely different.
00:05:05.600 --> 00:05:10.000
And of course, now we know about genetics, and so that's kind of changed absolutely everything.
00:05:10.160 --> 00:05:19.360
But it does help us understand why two people in the same family, one person can handle something and another person can't because your genes are different.
00:05:19.680 --> 00:05:20.160
Absolutely.
00:05:20.480 --> 00:05:21.439
Make a big difference.
00:05:21.519 --> 00:05:29.120
We've seen a lot of family come in, and one kid would floss and brush and have cavity, and the other kid would not do as good, but they don't have cavity.
00:05:29.680 --> 00:05:30.319
No decay.
00:05:30.399 --> 00:05:30.560
Yeah.
00:05:30.720 --> 00:05:31.120
Yes.
00:05:31.439 --> 00:05:37.199
So it's being a certified biological dentist, I'm a members of IBDM.
00:05:37.360 --> 00:05:46.000
And I know the public did not really understand what the IBDM roles in biological dentistry for certified dentists.
00:05:46.240 --> 00:05:48.959
What does that mean to be a certified biological dentist?
00:05:49.120 --> 00:05:49.600
So, Dr.
00:05:49.759 --> 00:05:52.319
Don, can you share with us a bit more about that vision than that?
00:05:52.720 --> 00:06:18.879
I really can there are three organizations that work very hard to educate dentists about mercury being toxic and safe ways to remove mercury fillings, which are commonly called amalgams, or even sometimes they stretch it and call them silver fillings, making you feel like you've got something that's a prized possession in your mouth when really it's 50% mercury.
00:06:19.279 --> 00:06:30.319
Those three organizations, one of them does do an accreditation saying, okay, we recognize that you can safely remove mercury fillings.
00:06:30.480 --> 00:06:53.680
But when COVID came, now mind you, we'd had a certification program for quite some time, but as COVID scared lay people into going to dentists anymore, don't want to go to a dentist because we don't know how this virus is being passed, a biological office was the safest place to be because we were already using equipment that would protect the staff.
00:06:53.839 --> 00:07:04.000
Therefore, we were protecting the patient just from mercury vapors and everything else that goes along with biological dentistry.
00:07:04.160 --> 00:07:17.199
But we didn't want people to join the wagon of becoming a member of a biological organization and then being able to call themselves a biological dentist because that is very misleading to the public.
00:07:17.600 --> 00:07:29.120
So we changed our protocol and we made it mandatory that if you joined the organization, you had to go through the certification process before we would list you on the website.
00:07:29.199 --> 00:07:43.360
And that's really for the protection of the public, because it is difficult as a layperson to find people that are actually knowledgeable about the things they say or think they are knowledgeable in.
00:07:43.519 --> 00:07:45.839
And that goes even for medicine as well.
00:07:46.000 --> 00:07:57.759
Um, you'll read somebody's website that will say that they can do something, but if you really dig deep and find out where they got certified, they didn't get certified in that, but they're listing it on their website.
00:07:58.079 --> 00:08:01.439
And that is even more true in certain countries.
00:08:01.600 --> 00:08:09.600
You know, I'm not picking on any countries, but some countries they don't care what you put on your website, and therefore it's a stretch.
00:08:09.920 --> 00:08:10.160
Yeah.
00:08:10.399 --> 00:08:14.720
We have patients that file, you know, our office through the IBDM website.
00:08:14.959 --> 00:08:19.680
And the website, as I know, the only list the certified biological dentist right now.
00:08:19.920 --> 00:08:20.160
Yes.
00:08:20.399 --> 00:08:22.879
There's tons of information for the public.
00:08:23.120 --> 00:08:43.600
We've got podcasts, we have videos, and I believe we're one of the few organizations that if you call, we actually return your call and/or pick up the phone and help you if you can't find someone in your area, which is not uncommon because not everybody can be a biological office.
00:08:43.840 --> 00:08:52.080
It's expensive to get the education, it's expensive to have the equipment, it's expensive to educate your staff.
00:08:52.320 --> 00:08:59.519
If you were gonna redo a kitchen, you would have a choice between having formica or tile or granite.
00:08:59.759 --> 00:09:05.759
If you're gonna go for granite, your bid is gonna be more expensive than if you're going for the formica.
00:09:06.080 --> 00:09:15.039
And so unfortunately, when you are asking how much something is going to cost to get repaired, you have to compare apples to apples.
00:09:15.279 --> 00:09:16.960
And a lot of people don't realize that.
00:09:17.039 --> 00:09:19.919
So they'll just call an office and say, I need to have a tooth taken out.
00:09:20.000 --> 00:09:21.440
How much is that gonna cost?
00:09:21.759 --> 00:09:25.679
And that could vary from$50 to$2,000.
00:09:26.159 --> 00:09:36.159
And I realize that's a big difference, but there might be a lot of difference between the kind of care that you're gonna get in both those situations.
00:09:37.200 --> 00:09:51.840
And I know a lot of our patients and listener does have questions about what one thing the biological dentistry or wellness, you know, practitioners stand out, especially in this dental field, to me, that's biocompatibility.
00:09:52.080 --> 00:09:59.759
And I do having a lot of patients come in and said, I got this material done, or I got this work done, and now I have this symptom.
00:09:59.919 --> 00:10:02.799
And the dentist don't believe that that's what cause it.
00:10:02.960 --> 00:10:03.519
And Dr.
00:10:03.679 --> 00:10:07.200
Don, can you share a bit about the work that you do with biocompatibility?
00:10:07.519 --> 00:10:21.519
Yes, you are testing to make sure that your body is gonna be okay with something that is gonna be placed in you, then is gonna be an exposure 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
00:10:21.759 --> 00:10:29.200
If you're allergic to a strawberry, it would not matter if that was an organic strawberry, you are still gonna react to it.
00:10:29.519 --> 00:10:40.480
When I talk to a dentist that is not necessarily biologically minded, you'll hear, we use this kind of white filling material and we've never had a problem.
00:10:40.639 --> 00:10:52.240
Well, they've never had a problem that they are aware of because the patient may have started having headaches and never thought to go back to the dentist and say, Ever since I had this filling, I've had headaches.
00:10:52.480 --> 00:11:04.879
So what'll happen is they'll end up at their primary care saying, wow, for the last three months I've had headaches, but every day I have to take ibuprofen or tylenol or pseudafed, and I wake up the next day and have a headache again.
00:11:05.120 --> 00:11:08.879
So their assumption is, well, you could have anemia, let's draw blood.
00:11:09.120 --> 00:11:10.320
The blood work comes back.
00:11:10.480 --> 00:11:13.840
No, we don't see any anemia, but I do hear that you're having headaches.
00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:16.000
So I tell you what, maybe you have a brain tumor.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:21.440
Let's do a CT scan and an MRI, only to find out that they don't really have anything wrong.
00:11:21.600 --> 00:11:25.519
So let's just write a prescription for neuron, and that should take care of your headaches.
00:11:25.759 --> 00:11:30.000
When the root cause is that they're reacting to something that was placed in their body.
00:11:30.240 --> 00:11:33.840
There's nothing as good as what God gave you originally.
00:11:34.080 --> 00:11:39.360
Dentistry has not figured out how to grow teeth with stem cells.
00:11:39.679 --> 00:11:42.080
Love to say that we have, but we haven't.
00:11:42.320 --> 00:11:48.159
So everything that we put in you, we have to test to make sure that you're not going to react to.
00:11:48.399 --> 00:11:49.759
And that is a big difference.
00:11:49.919 --> 00:11:57.039
I I've had patients that have been told by their doctor, it's not possible that you're reacting to that denture.
00:11:57.120 --> 00:12:00.480
And yet the roof of their mouth is completely broken out.
00:12:00.720 --> 00:12:05.440
In that case, I asked the guy to take his denture out and put it on his arm for about 10 minutes and then call me.
00:12:05.600 --> 00:12:08.480
And he had actually a red mark where his denture was.
00:12:08.559 --> 00:12:11.039
So obviously he was reacting to the denture.
00:12:11.200 --> 00:12:16.559
But the dentist said, it's not possible that it's the denture because I've never seen that before.
00:12:16.799 --> 00:12:20.559
And that's a horrible reason because he's never seen it before.
00:12:20.799 --> 00:12:24.559
It can't be possible because he just hasn't seen it before.
00:12:24.799 --> 00:12:34.080
But we do see reactions to everything from the anesthetics to the glues that are used to the white filling materials.
00:12:34.320 --> 00:12:51.200
A lot of people don't realize that some of the materials we use are glass, some of them are plastic, some of them are ceramic or porcelain, and all of those materials require a different bonding agent or glue to stick to the tooth.
00:12:51.360 --> 00:12:51.759
That's right.
00:12:51.919 --> 00:12:54.720
Because the material itself is not sticky, or that would be gross.
00:12:54.799 --> 00:12:57.440
It would stick to all your food when you ate it, too.
00:12:57.600 --> 00:13:06.399
So we have to make it be a bonded part of your tooth so that hopefully it becomes a part and doesn't break out.
00:13:06.639 --> 00:13:09.279
And you can be allergic to they're all chemicals.
00:13:09.600 --> 00:13:13.039
So that does set biological dentistry apart.
00:13:13.440 --> 00:13:31.440
We have a list of questions on the website to help guide people so that they can call an office and they know what questions to ask, but they also have the answers written down there so that if they don't get the appropriate answer, then they should just move on to another office.
00:13:31.679 --> 00:13:35.600
Yeah, that's a lot of resource on the IBDM website for sure.
00:13:35.759 --> 00:13:36.399
And Dr.
00:13:36.480 --> 00:13:41.679
Don, if the public want to know if they're compatible to something, what can they do?
00:13:42.480 --> 00:13:50.159
Well, there are people that do muscle testing, there are people that use EAV, there is blood testing that can be done.
00:13:50.399 --> 00:13:54.240
I mean, those are the three most common ways.
00:13:54.879 --> 00:13:59.039
Some doctors will do Melissa testing as well.
00:13:59.360 --> 00:14:04.639
That's usually more common in Europe than it is here in the United States.
00:14:04.879 --> 00:14:07.120
But those are the three most common ways.
00:14:07.279 --> 00:14:21.679
I think another thing that sets biological dentistry apart is that it's a team effort, and a biological office will network very tightly with a team for the patient's sake.
00:14:21.840 --> 00:14:37.679
There could be a chiropractor that might make an adjustment so that your atlas and axis are in line before you're going to have major dental work done so that your smile is not only straight, but that your walk is straight.
00:14:37.759 --> 00:14:50.320
Because we don't want you to have a straight smile, but then you walk with a hitch in your get along, and then you go back to your dentist and you get adjusted, and now your smile is good, but then everything else is off.
00:14:50.399 --> 00:14:52.240
So it takes a coordinated effort.
00:14:52.559 --> 00:15:07.679
Biological office will look for things like tongue ties, they'll look at your airway to make sure that you're able to breathe, that the reason you're not having sleep apnea is something that could be repaired instead of something that could just have a band-aid put on it.
00:15:07.919 --> 00:15:15.679
They will network with a cardiologist, with someone who can offer chelation after the amalgams are removed safely.
00:15:15.919 --> 00:15:19.360
So most dental offices, it's just a dental office.
00:15:19.519 --> 00:15:21.919
They don't really network with a team.
00:15:22.240 --> 00:15:40.399
And it's important that the team is involved because in a biological office they're doing things like an extraction and they're drawing blood from you and spinning it down and putting that plug of healthy self back into the extraction site.
00:15:40.480 --> 00:15:43.360
And yet they get trained to look at that plug.
00:15:43.440 --> 00:15:54.879
And if it looks different than a perfectly healthy one, that might mean a referral back to their primary care to check maybe their vitamin D level, make sure that everything's okay.
00:15:55.039 --> 00:16:04.320
So regular dental offices, they just focus on the mouth, scraping the teeth, keeping them clean, drill and fill, and bill.
00:16:04.720 --> 00:16:18.720
Biological office says, Wow, your child has two cavities in their on opposite sides, but those teeth are on the same energetic pathway, and that is attached to the lung and large intestine.
00:16:18.960 --> 00:16:20.960
I can hear that they're breathing okay.
00:16:21.120 --> 00:16:22.159
They have any asthma.
00:16:22.559 --> 00:16:24.080
And they don't have any asthma.
00:16:24.879 --> 00:16:26.639
How often do they have a bowel movement?
00:16:26.799 --> 00:16:28.480
Oh, at least twice a week.
00:16:28.799 --> 00:16:30.240
Okay, that's a problem.
00:16:30.720 --> 00:16:46.320
And you have to understand that that problem of just being constipated will not allow the same amount of energy to go to the teeth that are related to that particular organ, and therefore those teeth are going to be more susceptible to decay.
00:16:46.480 --> 00:16:58.799
So, biological office, in their head, all these things are spinning, and their goal is that once we get your mouth fixed and all the decay taken care of, we don't really want to do work on you again.
00:16:58.960 --> 00:17:06.880
Unless you're in a car accident and something happens and you break out a tooth or drop a bowling ball and it bounces up and you break a tooth.
00:17:07.039 --> 00:17:08.400
We're looking for reasons.
00:17:08.559 --> 00:17:11.759
Why is your body creating decay?
00:17:12.160 --> 00:17:14.799
And it's a big part of the prevention.
00:17:15.039 --> 00:17:15.359
Yeah.
00:17:15.519 --> 00:17:22.000
In biological office, we're actually doing less dentistry because people keep the teeth longer and healthier.
00:17:22.240 --> 00:17:26.160
And we have a big part that we always talk about to the patient is nutrition.
00:17:26.319 --> 00:17:27.200
And I know Dr.
00:17:27.440 --> 00:17:31.599
Don always mentions with the patient that you are what you eat, right?
00:17:31.920 --> 00:17:37.759
So not many office talking about it because it's a can be a sensitive topic to a lot of people.
00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:41.440
It's not easy to implement because the patient does all the work.
00:17:41.680 --> 00:17:46.160
They got to prep their meal, they got to choose what they put into the body.
00:17:46.400 --> 00:17:53.920
And to us, that's patient responsibility, but we guiding them and telling them what better for their teeth in their body.
00:17:54.160 --> 00:17:58.640
A lot of doctors are also surprised when they know biological dentists look at blood work.
00:17:58.880 --> 00:17:59.039
Right.
00:17:59.200 --> 00:17:59.759
And Dr.
00:17:59.920 --> 00:18:04.160
Don, you're teaching the course, the blood panel for dentists.
00:18:04.319 --> 00:18:12.799
Can you share a little bit more what you're really looking for in those blood work that the dentist needs to be aware, patient needs to be and pay attention to?
00:18:13.119 --> 00:18:21.279
Yeah, I think it's not good timing to take out amalgams if the person's kidney function is not good.
00:18:21.599 --> 00:18:28.160
And it is amazing to me how many people don't know that they're already in stage two renal failure.
00:18:28.319 --> 00:18:32.880
I mean, it just blows me away that nobody has talked to them about that.
00:18:33.599 --> 00:18:51.200
That a bilirubin could be too high, or liver enzymes could be so crazy out of balance that it probably is better for that dentist to return that patient to a primary care and get them into a healthier place before they're going to go through the mercury removal.
00:18:51.359 --> 00:18:54.480
It's not something that you just jump into lightly.
00:18:54.720 --> 00:19:24.240
I know people read articles, hear shows, and recognize that the mercury is toxic and can cause all kinds of neurological problems, but the worst thing to do is get it taken out incorrectly because then the repercussions for that could take years and much more money to get the heavy metals out of the person's body than if they had just been patient and taken the correct steps to have the mercury removal done.
00:19:24.559 --> 00:19:24.960
Yeah.
00:19:25.200 --> 00:19:28.720
And like vitamin D, what do you see in most of the people that you see the blood?
00:19:30.480 --> 00:19:33.119
That's you know, we're in a southern state.
00:19:33.200 --> 00:19:38.640
And so I was told in school that if you're in a sunshine state, don't even worry about vitamin D.
00:19:39.119 --> 00:19:44.480
But to be honest, I've had people come back with vitamin D levels as low as eight.
00:19:44.799 --> 00:19:48.079
A healthy reading should be between 60 and 80.
00:19:48.160 --> 00:19:53.200
You can't overdose on vitamin D, but I'm very fair-complexed.
00:19:53.519 --> 00:19:58.000
Genetically, I do not absorb vitamin D from sunshine.
00:19:58.079 --> 00:20:08.000
So it wouldn't matter if I went outside and got a sunburn, or if I went outside and I dedicated 10 minutes a day, I'm not going to increase my vitamin D level.
00:20:08.240 --> 00:20:12.240
And therefore, I have to take vitamin D on a daily basis.
00:20:12.400 --> 00:20:19.200
That's not something that traditional dentists are trained to even ask what's your vitamin D level?
00:20:19.359 --> 00:20:26.079
I'm about to take out your wisdom teeth, or I'm taking out a tooth that broke, taking out a tooth that abscessed.
00:20:26.240 --> 00:20:33.440
And if your vitamin D level is not good, it's going to be really hard for that area to heal properly and fill in with healthy bone.
00:20:33.519 --> 00:20:35.279
So it is an important question.
00:20:35.519 --> 00:20:35.839
Yeah.
00:20:36.000 --> 00:20:42.000
And we see a lot of patients that had implant done, because implant is really popular and common these days.
00:20:42.160 --> 00:20:47.200
And the implant felling on them, and they're not smoker, they're not diabetic patients, but guess what?
00:20:47.279 --> 00:20:49.279
Their vitamin D is super low.
00:20:49.599 --> 00:21:00.880
So their bone and the implant is not integrated, and they never get tested to see if they're compatible with the titanium implant, which is the metal one, or the ceramic one, which is the zirconia one.
00:21:00.960 --> 00:21:03.680
So again, biocompatibility is super important.
00:21:04.079 --> 00:21:04.559
Super important.
00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:10.480
We actually have patients that are not even compatible with the glass, the ceramic implant.
00:21:10.799 --> 00:21:12.799
And so the only way to find out is get to test.
00:21:13.039 --> 00:21:13.599
That's testing.
00:21:13.759 --> 00:21:14.960
Yeah, absolutely.
00:21:15.200 --> 00:21:31.920
And if they patients is looking for the resource, and you know, I'm not just looking for biological dentists, because they know they need to go to IBDM website to look for that, certified biological dentists, but they also want to look for naturopath chiropractors.
00:21:32.079 --> 00:21:34.240
What is the best way for them to reach out?
00:21:34.480 --> 00:21:38.240
Yeah, really the best thing to do is to network with a biological office.
00:21:38.400 --> 00:21:41.039
A biological office has to have a team.
00:21:41.119 --> 00:21:41.759
They just have to.
00:21:41.839 --> 00:21:43.039
It's not possible.
00:21:43.279 --> 00:21:50.960
When people come back and tell me, hey, I had my amalgams taken out 12 years ago, and it's not possible for me to have heavy metals.
00:21:51.119 --> 00:21:52.960
And why is it not possible?
00:21:53.279 --> 00:21:55.759
My dentist uh he took him out, he chelated.
00:21:56.240 --> 00:21:59.759
No, the dentist did not do the chelation because that's outside of theirs.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:01.200
Scope of practice.
00:22:01.359 --> 00:22:14.720
So if you didn't go someplace and you weren't at a physician's office, so calling a biological office and asking the front desk person, I need a primary care physician that's alternative minded.
00:22:14.880 --> 00:22:16.559
I need to do some chelation.
00:22:16.640 --> 00:22:26.960
So I want somebody that is trained and certified in chelation, which I see I am an ACAM certified physicians to do chelation.
00:22:27.200 --> 00:22:29.519
It's not something that you want to go online.
00:22:30.319 --> 00:22:31.680
I could name names.
00:22:31.839 --> 00:22:32.799
I'm not going to.
00:22:32.960 --> 00:22:43.119
There are programs out there where it seems like there's a support group of individuals and they can help guide you through the process and you can do it on your own.
00:22:43.359 --> 00:22:49.839
That's about as foolish as trying to do brain surgery on yourself with a mirror and a drill.
00:23:01.599 --> 00:23:03.519
Is there a methylation issue?
00:23:03.759 --> 00:23:05.839
What heavy metal is the highest?
00:23:06.000 --> 00:23:06.799
Is it lead?
00:23:06.960 --> 00:23:07.839
Is it mercury?
00:23:08.079 --> 00:23:09.279
Is it bismuth?
00:23:09.359 --> 00:23:10.640
Is it uranium?
00:23:10.880 --> 00:23:15.920
Each of those may have a different chelating agent to help bring that down.
00:23:16.240 --> 00:23:20.480
The body removes heavy metals based on an order.
00:23:20.720 --> 00:23:27.359
You can't just choose, I want to have mercury taken out, and I'm going to bypass all this other stuff and get this out.
00:23:27.599 --> 00:23:37.839
So what we don't want is people getting sicker trying to do it themselves, or worse yet, lose a kidney because they go to somebody who doesn't know what they're doing.
00:23:38.079 --> 00:23:43.680
It's very taxing to a kidney when you're mobilizing the heavy metals.
00:23:43.839 --> 00:23:50.319
You can even use vitamin C and move mercury from the inside of a cell to the extracellular space.
00:23:50.480 --> 00:23:54.160
And if your body's working correctly, it would then go into the potty.
00:23:54.400 --> 00:23:59.599
But if you have a methylation issue, like I do, then it just goes into another cell.
00:23:59.759 --> 00:24:08.160
So there's an order of correcting the methylation issue before you even get into the process of trying to clean up the body.
00:24:08.319 --> 00:24:11.119
And when you dishonor that, it just doesn't work.
00:24:11.440 --> 00:24:11.839
Yeah.
00:24:12.079 --> 00:24:14.319
And a lot of people learn that the hard way.
00:24:14.640 --> 00:24:15.359
Unfortunately.
00:24:15.680 --> 00:24:15.920
Yeah.
00:24:16.079 --> 00:24:22.160
And I was one of them when the collation was too fast, too strong, and your body cannot handle that.
00:24:22.400 --> 00:24:24.000
And so right now I'm working with Dr.
00:24:24.160 --> 00:24:27.119
Don to go through that personalized process.
00:24:27.279 --> 00:24:31.839
And I'm telling you, your body can handle it when it's slow dose and low dose.
00:24:32.000 --> 00:24:35.200
And so definitely working with a professional, know what they're doing.
00:24:35.279 --> 00:24:38.000
Because I got a lot of messaging on social media.
00:24:38.160 --> 00:24:41.039
Last follower was like, I got my mercury out safely.
00:24:41.119 --> 00:24:48.319
Now I want to, you know, doing the detox or the chalation on my own because I'm on this Facebook group and they're showing me the result.
00:24:48.720 --> 00:24:51.119
And my answer was always don't do it.
00:24:51.279 --> 00:24:51.519
Right.
00:24:51.759 --> 00:24:52.240
Don't do it.
00:24:52.319 --> 00:24:57.279
Find somebody that done it professionally trained to do it, help you guide through it.
00:24:57.519 --> 00:25:05.839
Yeah, somebody who's trained is going to look at your blood work first and make sure that you're healthy enough to withstand going through chelation.
00:25:06.319 --> 00:25:13.839
And then some of them, most of them, will do a hair test, not to see if you have heavy metals, because your hair is a trash can.
00:25:13.920 --> 00:25:21.279
So it'll you could be completely filled with mercury and have very little mercury come out in the hair, which is a bad sign.
00:25:21.519 --> 00:25:27.200
But then they'll do a provoked urine test to find out what heavy metal you actually have.
00:25:27.519 --> 00:25:34.480
Somebody who does chelation on you and has no idea where your levels are, how would you ever know you're done?
00:25:34.720 --> 00:25:38.240
I mean, you have to have a starting place and you have to have an ending place.
00:25:38.480 --> 00:25:47.200
And I do recognize that we're talking about paying more money than to somebody who is gonna try to do it on their own.
00:25:47.279 --> 00:25:51.519
And there are a lot of options when you hit the internet.
00:25:52.079 --> 00:25:56.559
Homeopathics as far as chelating or different supplements.
00:25:56.640 --> 00:26:01.039
It used to be chelation was primarily IV, it's not anymore.
00:26:01.359 --> 00:26:06.240
But still, you need somebody helping you and guiding you through that process.
00:26:06.559 --> 00:26:07.039
Yeah.
00:26:07.279 --> 00:26:18.799
And what is the number one advice for people that having murdered root canals and definitely having an idea that there's no problem going on in there?
00:26:19.039 --> 00:26:21.920
What is the first step for them to do?
00:26:22.559 --> 00:26:35.359
Well, first step, if you have a practitioner in your area that understands the tooth body connection, and we do have practitioners here, we're blessed, that they can take a look and then direct you about where to go.
00:26:35.519 --> 00:26:38.319
And that might be going to a biological office.
00:26:38.559 --> 00:26:59.599
It might be seeing someone like me who would do the prep work for the biological office, would test all the teeth to see if there's a meridian that is being compromised because of a tooth or if there's an organ that is causing a tooth problem and give that information both to the primary care and to a biological dentist.
00:26:59.839 --> 00:27:02.720
It might be just finding a biological office first.
00:27:02.799 --> 00:27:04.640
That becomes a priority.
00:27:04.960 --> 00:27:16.880
And I do recognize that asking someone to go to a biological office is more expensive than seeing someone who is on an insurance plan.
00:27:17.119 --> 00:27:23.599
But I am not saying that those dentists that are on an insurance plan are bad dentists.
00:27:23.759 --> 00:27:37.039
If you don't have a dental problem, you don't have a root canal that is a problem, you don't have mercury fillings, maybe you don't even have any fillings, and you just need someplace to get your teeth cleaned, that's great.
00:27:37.279 --> 00:27:43.519
But if you're having problems, you really should get your mouth all in order.
00:27:43.759 --> 00:27:53.839
And then if you have to go back to the dentist that you love that is your next door neighbor and friendly as all get out, it didn't mean that they were a bad person.
00:27:54.000 --> 00:27:58.319
It just meant that they couldn't provide the service that you needed at that time.
00:27:58.559 --> 00:28:00.960
And you have to do what's right for you.
00:28:01.279 --> 00:28:12.960
Yes, and there's resources on the website, so you can look into the IABDM website, this functional medicine website that the doctor understands the two body connections.
00:28:13.200 --> 00:28:14.720
And definitely, you know, Dr.
00:28:14.799 --> 00:28:17.920
Don just mentioned earlier, you can always call IBDM.
00:28:18.160 --> 00:28:19.519
You can always call IBDM.
00:28:19.599 --> 00:28:22.079
You'll talk to either myself or my husband, Toby.
00:28:22.240 --> 00:28:22.480
Yeah.
00:28:22.559 --> 00:28:26.079
And IBDM is not only for dentists, it's medicines also.
00:28:26.160 --> 00:28:26.319
Yes.
00:28:26.480 --> 00:28:26.640
Right.
00:28:27.039 --> 00:28:35.359
So there's not only just a dentist members of IBDM, but we have natural path, chiropractors, MDs, DOs on that.
00:28:35.440 --> 00:28:38.480
So we can definitely guide you to the right resource.
00:28:38.640 --> 00:28:39.279
And Dr.
00:28:39.440 --> 00:28:41.039
Dawn, that's a lot of good information.
00:28:41.279 --> 00:28:47.759
And I know you taught a lot of biological dentists, a lot of lectures around a country and international.
00:28:48.079 --> 00:28:51.119
What's the best way to reach out to you and contact you?
00:28:51.440 --> 00:28:58.640
You can either go through the website, it will come directly to me, or you can email me at dron at dron.net.
00:28:58.799 --> 00:29:04.960
It's just D-R-D-A-W-N at D-R D A W N dot net.
00:29:05.279 --> 00:29:21.440
I always ask people if you are looking for a dentist or you have a question, just put up in the subject line, heard the podcast, have a question, watch the video, have a question, and I promise I will get to you.
00:29:21.519 --> 00:29:23.200
I'm very good about answering my emails.
00:29:23.440 --> 00:29:23.680
Yes.
00:29:23.839 --> 00:29:27.119
Emails is the best way to reach out to Dr.
00:29:27.279 --> 00:29:27.519
Don.
00:29:28.079 --> 00:29:30.720
And once again, I'm sure I would have Dr.
00:29:30.960 --> 00:29:33.359
Don come back on to our podcast for more information.
00:29:33.519 --> 00:29:34.079
But Dr.
00:29:34.319 --> 00:29:36.559
Don, thank you so much for your time today.
00:29:36.799 --> 00:29:39.599
And if you have any questions, send emails to Dr.
00:29:39.759 --> 00:29:41.519
Don at dron.net.
00:29:41.759 --> 00:29:46.160
And don't forget to subscribe to our podcast.
00:29:46.319 --> 00:29:49.279
And remember, there's always a reason to smile.
00:29:49.839 --> 00:29:52.880
Thanks for listening to the Wellness Dentist Podcast.
00:29:53.039 --> 00:29:54.640
We hope you enjoyed the show.
00:29:54.799 --> 00:29:56.319
Please rate and review.
00:29:56.400 --> 00:30:00.000
And remember, there's always a reason to smile.
