ABOUT THIS EPISODE
What if the setback you’re fighting is the very training ground God is using to make you stronger? We invite you into a raw, hope-filled conversation where two of our coaches share how broken wrists unraveled hurry, exposed pride, and opened the door to real freedom. From the first jolt of denial to the awkward daily work of opening jars one-handed, these stories reveal how adversity shifts when you stop asking “how do I control this?” and start asking “how do I trust here?”
We explore the surprising link between spiritual surrender and functional health: stewarding your body like a temple, fueling your mitochondria with quality nutrition, and letting Scripture rewire your stress response. One coach walks us through ditching the scale and the diet mentality that kept her stuck, learning to trust the body God designed. Another offers a simple, life-giving refrain—God already knows—that turned self-pity into steady gratitude. It’s not about perfect conditions; it’s about faithful choices, repeated daily.
You’ll also hear the unexpected origin story of our Coaching Academy—born from obedience, not a business plan—and why intergenerational mentorship changes everything. Partners formed in training became lifelines during crisis, trading shallow cheerleading for prayer, challenge, and practical wisdom. If you’re juggling family, business, and faith, and you’re tired of white-knuckling your way through, this episode is a warm hand on your shoulder and a clear path forward: ask for help, slow down, choose joy, and root yourself in the Word. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a review to help more women find hope and healing.

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:06.719
I think of the crabs in the pot, and they're all just like trying to climb out of the pot together and they just keep pulling each other down.
00:00:06.799 --> 00:00:13.359
Like you need somebody outside of the pot, outside of your situation to help teach you how to climb out of there, right?
00:00:13.599 --> 00:00:14.240
Yeah, that's true.
00:00:14.400 --> 00:00:15.039
Yeah.
00:00:19.760 --> 00:00:29.199
If you're tired of doing all the right things and still feeling exhausted, stuck in your body, and disconnected from God, this podcast is for you.
00:00:29.440 --> 00:00:30.000
I'm Dr.
00:00:30.079 --> 00:00:38.880
Tabitha, triple board certified functional medicine physician, and I help women stop fighting their bodies and start healing them God's way.
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:41.920
This isn't about another diet or quick fix.
00:00:42.079 --> 00:00:50.079
This is about restoring your energy, your confidence, and your faith through fasting, functional medicine, and biblical truth.
00:00:50.240 --> 00:00:53.759
Welcome to Fast of Faith, where you don't just lose weight and feel great.
00:00:53.840 --> 00:00:56.560
You step into who God created you to be.
00:00:56.719 --> 00:00:58.320
So let's get into it.
00:01:03.600 --> 00:01:06.400
Welcome back to the Fast of Faith podcast.
00:01:06.560 --> 00:01:07.359
Oh my goodness.
00:01:07.519 --> 00:01:08.400
Hi, Ashley.
00:01:08.640 --> 00:01:08.959
Hi.
00:01:09.519 --> 00:01:10.400
I missed you.
00:01:11.040 --> 00:01:12.000
How are you doing?
00:01:12.400 --> 00:01:19.040
It was a long weekend of volleyball tournaments, four states away, even though it's across the lake.
00:01:19.120 --> 00:01:20.560
It took a hot minute to get there.
00:01:20.719 --> 00:01:21.040
Yeah.
00:01:21.280 --> 00:01:22.879
Too bad the ferry's not open.
00:01:23.120 --> 00:01:26.000
I know the lake can unfreeze any day now.
00:01:26.400 --> 00:01:27.280
Oh my goodness.
00:01:27.439 --> 00:01:29.200
Well, what are we talking about today?
00:01:29.439 --> 00:01:31.200
I how did the volleyball tournament go?
00:01:31.439 --> 00:01:32.000
Amazing.
00:01:32.159 --> 00:01:36.000
They won their bracket, so I'm glad we stayed for the championship game.
00:01:36.159 --> 00:01:44.400
But you know, it's hard juggling mom life and running all these businesses and having a coaching academy.
00:01:44.640 --> 00:01:45.840
I'm preaching to the choir.
00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:46.640
I know.
00:01:47.120 --> 00:01:52.560
No, I mean it I think it's important that everyone understands that there's multi-levels to all of us.
00:01:52.640 --> 00:01:54.000
And we have to give each other grace.
00:01:54.079 --> 00:01:59.280
But that's why we surround ourselves with a community that can pick up when we have to put something down.
00:01:59.519 --> 00:02:00.879
So I think that's important.
00:02:01.120 --> 00:02:03.439
So we are here today with two beautiful women.
00:02:03.519 --> 00:02:06.640
Why don't you tell everyone what we're here to talk about today?
00:02:06.879 --> 00:02:07.120
Yes.
00:02:07.280 --> 00:02:08.639
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited.
00:02:08.719 --> 00:02:17.599
So speaking of a woman juggling all the things the mom life, the coaching life, the business life, we have Miss Kendra, our certified coach.
00:02:17.840 --> 00:02:19.759
Thanks for coming over to the studio.
00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:20.719
Thanks for having me.
00:02:20.800 --> 00:02:22.159
It's super exciting to be here.
00:02:22.319 --> 00:02:23.520
Yes, it's gonna be so good.
00:02:23.680 --> 00:02:27.039
And then on Zoom, we have Coach Terry.
00:02:27.280 --> 00:02:29.599
Yay, all the way from Alabama.
00:02:30.240 --> 00:02:30.800
How are you?
00:02:32.159 --> 00:02:33.680
I am wonderful this morning.
00:02:33.759 --> 00:02:38.560
It's sunshiny and it's gonna be 73 degrees here before the day's over.
00:02:38.719 --> 00:02:40.400
So I'm excited about that.
00:02:40.560 --> 00:02:42.080
I'm sorry for y'all.
00:02:42.960 --> 00:02:43.439
That's all right.
00:02:43.680 --> 00:02:46.319
Yeah, we may have yelled at Terry before we started recording.
00:02:46.400 --> 00:02:47.520
Like, shut your mouth.
00:02:47.840 --> 00:02:48.479
But you know what?
00:02:48.639 --> 00:02:52.719
Four, I mean, it's like what 39 out there today, and it feels 70 here.
00:02:52.800 --> 00:02:54.000
So we're we're happy actually.
00:02:54.240 --> 00:02:54.879
It's perspective.
00:02:55.120 --> 00:02:55.759
Yeah, it is.
00:02:56.080 --> 00:02:57.439
We have to be grateful to God.
00:02:57.520 --> 00:03:07.199
So, yes, today you need to listen, ladies, to this conversation because we are talking about the adversities that get thrown at us.
00:03:07.360 --> 00:03:27.680
And Kendra and I were actually having a conversation, I think it was last week, and we realized that sometimes these things that we think are to make our life miserable or to throw us in the pit or create worse struggle might actually be a movement from God, right?
00:03:27.919 --> 00:03:28.879
Yeah, completely.
00:03:29.120 --> 00:03:33.919
Oh, so we're gonna talk about that today because not everything is coming from the enemy, ladies.
00:03:34.080 --> 00:03:35.520
We want to think that it is.
00:03:35.680 --> 00:03:40.479
We want to think life is supposed to be just perfect and splendor and straight paths.
00:03:40.719 --> 00:04:03.120
But the more I read the book of James and more I read just like Old Testament stories, I really see that God is doing a good work in people when He is giving us adversity and He wants to grow our character and develop us into someone stronger, someone with tenacity, someone with persistence.
00:04:03.280 --> 00:04:10.319
And I just I think back to the four of us in our group calls just a couple years ago.
00:04:11.039 --> 00:04:13.120
And we are all so much stronger.
00:04:13.439 --> 00:04:14.479
Are we for sure?
00:04:14.800 --> 00:04:15.599
Absolutely, yeah.
00:04:15.759 --> 00:04:17.279
And actually, this is crazy.
00:04:17.360 --> 00:04:25.759
Um, we always say that the spirit leads these conversations, but on my way here, I was listening to I'm doing the Bible recap, and that's what today's was about.
00:04:25.920 --> 00:04:29.120
About it's not all it doesn't always come from the devil.
00:04:29.279 --> 00:04:31.680
It sometimes is because our Lord is sovereign.
00:04:31.839 --> 00:04:37.600
And so we do sometimes get adversity because he wants us to teach us something.
00:04:37.839 --> 00:04:38.160
Right.
00:04:38.319 --> 00:04:49.360
I think about as parents, we don't let our kids just get away with stuff or take the easy road, like they don't want to clean their room, they don't want to cut the grass and do these hard things.
00:04:49.600 --> 00:04:55.360
They think we're like destroying their lives when we're asking them to go through and do stuff.
00:04:55.519 --> 00:05:00.720
And it's really like, no, we're trying to grow you up into a proper human, right?
00:05:01.360 --> 00:05:02.800
Are you feeling that, Kendra?
00:05:03.040 --> 00:05:03.839
Yeah, I hear you.
00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:09.839
And there's just no way around it that we grow the most in adversity.
00:05:10.160 --> 00:05:20.319
Like if I'm on that mountaintop and I'm staring at all the views, it's not always directly my eyes on the Lord.
00:05:20.639 --> 00:05:23.360
Often it's like, man, this is awesome.
00:05:23.600 --> 00:05:39.680
But when I'm in that valley and I'm trying to get up that mountain and I'm struggling, then I'm forced to decide like, are my eyes gonna be upward toward the Lord or are my eyes gonna go inward and it's gonna bring me down?
00:05:40.399 --> 00:05:41.279
That's so good.
00:05:41.439 --> 00:05:48.639
Well, we chose you two to come on the show today because you both broke your wrists over the past couple months.
00:05:48.800 --> 00:05:52.160
Like, Terry, what happened?
00:05:52.879 --> 00:06:05.360
Okay, it it's I should come up with a much more exciting story than it is because I was getting ready to go to my fitness class one morning and I was in a hurry, like I am all too often.
00:06:05.600 --> 00:06:09.040
So slowing down might be one of those lessons I was learning.
00:06:09.279 --> 00:06:18.240
Um, but went into my closet, grabbed, you know, the bottoms, turned around to grab the top, and I was in the floor the next thing I know.
00:06:18.319 --> 00:06:28.240
I don't know, you know, what happened exactly, but my feet came out from under me and I jumped right up and put some ice on it and convinced myself that nothing was wrong.
00:06:28.399 --> 00:06:38.000
It just hurt, and I didn't go to the doctor until the next afternoon, and he came in and said, It's broken, it really is broken.
00:06:38.160 --> 00:06:40.079
And I mean, I was just in denial.
00:06:40.240 --> 00:06:41.279
No, it can't be broken.
00:06:41.360 --> 00:06:45.199
I'd never broken anything in my life, so um, yeah.
00:06:45.439 --> 00:06:58.079
So I was expecting a break to be more than I mean, for it to sh for it to swell, for it to bruise, for it to do more than what it was doing, but I was real quick to get ice on it and all that, so I probably prevented some of that.
00:06:58.319 --> 00:07:04.800
But yeah, I should come up with something a whole lot better than that because falling in your closet's not real exciting.
00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:07.040
But your break was pretty cool though.
00:07:07.199 --> 00:07:09.040
Your x-ray showed something.
00:07:09.360 --> 00:07:15.600
Yes, I had like a little cross almost, like the break had formed almost a cross.
00:07:16.319 --> 00:07:21.839
And uh yeah, so I just took that as okay, God's with me, right?
00:07:22.160 --> 00:07:35.759
Right, and here is a whole, and I had to look at that whole situation because not only did I break my wrist, that was on December the 1st, my husband was having his first of two knee replacement surgeries on the 23rd.
00:07:36.000 --> 00:07:42.800
So we jokingly told everybody that between us we had three good arms and two good legs.
00:07:43.199 --> 00:07:56.879
And uh perhaps God was showing us that we could do a better job of working together because it was taking both of us to do the things that we had to do to just daily life, you know.
00:07:56.959 --> 00:08:01.519
I mean, when you break your wrist, you can't twist the top off of anything.
00:08:01.839 --> 00:08:04.399
No, um, you don't have a hand to hold it.
00:08:04.480 --> 00:08:06.879
You don't you can't twist with the hand that's broken either.
00:08:06.959 --> 00:08:14.720
So, I mean, really and truly, I I had to to shift my focus from oh my goodness, could this not have happened at a worse time?
00:08:15.120 --> 00:08:22.480
I'm about to be taking care of a husband that's gonna have a knee replacement to okay, God is refining us again.
00:08:22.720 --> 00:08:28.560
Um, you know, he's he he's buffing off the edges, and I'm gonna tell you, sometimes that's painful.
00:08:28.879 --> 00:08:29.439
Oh my god.
00:08:29.759 --> 00:08:32.399
And uh yeah, so painful.
00:08:32.720 --> 00:08:43.679
And I think it's so interesting because Kendra kind of alluded to the same thing during our conversation last week of I was so busy, I was go, go, go.
00:08:43.840 --> 00:08:45.679
I didn't have time for this.
00:08:45.919 --> 00:08:57.200
And so that when that's when I was like, wait a second, God's just trying to get our attention because that is literally what happened to me after my failed back surgery.
00:08:57.360 --> 00:09:02.320
I tried to jump right back into my old life and be on call for five nights straight.
00:09:02.480 --> 00:09:17.840
And the third night I re-injured and couldn't move, and God had to put me on my back for seven days, you know, being carried to the bathroom, all the things of like, can I give you an idea of how to live life now?
00:09:18.000 --> 00:09:19.759
Can you stop doing it your way?
00:09:19.840 --> 00:09:22.159
Because you're destroying yourself, right?
00:09:22.320 --> 00:09:24.480
So that's what you were saying, right, Kendra?
00:09:24.720 --> 00:09:32.000
Yeah, so mine was actually kind of a fun story because I was being super mom and took all my kids.
00:09:32.159 --> 00:09:39.519
I have married children that were visiting, and we just all went to this new outdoor ice park and went ice skating.
00:09:39.679 --> 00:09:44.000
And as soon as I got my skates on, I was like, oh, I remember.
00:09:44.240 --> 00:09:46.240
I love ice skating.
00:09:47.120 --> 00:09:56.720
And all of a sudden I felt like I was in my 20s again, instead of recognizing it had literally been over 20 years since I've had ice skates on.
00:09:57.039 --> 00:10:07.600
So I did my first lap, felt super confident, and then I saw some people backward skating and was like, oh, oh girl, you got this.
00:10:07.759 --> 00:10:08.559
So I didn't.
00:10:09.039 --> 00:10:10.159
This was your second lap?
00:10:10.320 --> 00:10:12.559
No, after the first, I didn't even make the second.
00:10:12.879 --> 00:10:15.279
Oh I was like, oh, I got this.
00:10:15.360 --> 00:10:19.360
So I like do my little spin and down I went.
00:10:19.600 --> 00:10:22.000
And I was like, oh, that hurt.
00:10:22.320 --> 00:10:25.679
But I was pretty convinced, you know, I'm still quite young.
00:10:25.759 --> 00:10:27.919
So I was like, I'm sure it's just a sprain.
00:10:28.000 --> 00:10:35.679
I got back up, I'm holding it, breathing through the pain a little bit, decided I didn't want to miss out on all this excitement.
00:10:35.759 --> 00:10:36.720
We had just gotten there.
00:10:36.799 --> 00:10:42.559
So I skated for another 45 minutes, and then my dad was there just watching.
00:10:42.720 --> 00:10:44.320
Thankfully, he was just watching.
00:10:44.559 --> 00:10:51.759
And um, we ended up going to Meyer and getting a brace, and then the next day I went to urgent care and they're like, Yeah, it's broken.
00:10:51.919 --> 00:10:54.559
And I was like, Oh, oh bummer.
00:10:54.799 --> 00:11:01.759
So, yeah, so that happened, and it really does challenge where your mind is.
00:11:02.240 --> 00:11:11.679
I mean, all of a sudden, like Terry was saying, you're forced to ask yourself, do I believe these things that I've been saying?
00:11:12.559 --> 00:11:15.039
Do I believe that God's in control?
00:11:15.279 --> 00:11:18.480
Do I believe that He has me?
00:11:18.639 --> 00:11:20.799
Do I believe that He's enough?
00:11:21.360 --> 00:11:38.000
Um and I was really excited because I I felt myself within the first 24 hours kind of spiraling, kind of getting near that self-pity, like, oh really, Lord, why me?
00:11:38.320 --> 00:11:50.480
You know, I was just trying to be fun, and and then there's this phrase that I've been saying to myself over the last year, and it's God already knows us.
00:11:51.279 --> 00:11:54.399
And so it was like this wasn't a surprise to God.
00:11:54.960 --> 00:12:08.879
So clearly he had a plan, and I wanted to be a part of that plan, and I wanted to give thanks in all circumstances, right?
00:12:08.960 --> 00:12:21.039
Like I literally have that verse on my wall to rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for your life in Christ Jesus.
00:12:21.120 --> 00:12:25.120
Like it's so simple and until you have to do it.
00:12:25.440 --> 00:12:28.080
Until you have to do it, and it's not as fun.
00:12:28.960 --> 00:12:38.960
And and so yeah, but I just made a decision, and I actually think we talked or almost like a couple days after this happened.
00:12:39.039 --> 00:12:46.799
So I think it was a few weeks ago, but um I remember saying to myself, No, this is this is my opportunity.
00:12:47.759 --> 00:12:52.159
You know, this is my opportunity to put my words into action.
00:12:52.720 --> 00:13:02.960
And part of it's my fault because uh about six months ago, I felt like the Lord was asking me that question, do you believe what you say?
00:13:03.840 --> 00:13:07.919
And I was like, Lord, I I want to believe what I say.
00:13:08.399 --> 00:13:19.360
And so I said, So don't change any of my circumstances because I want to be able to find your joy and find gratitude right where I'm at, not because of a circumstance.
00:13:20.080 --> 00:13:27.039
And so then when this happened, I was like, Oh, so you're just gonna add a circumstance to kind of anyway.
00:13:27.360 --> 00:13:31.120
But it was really cool to see the way your patterns go.
00:13:31.279 --> 00:13:37.039
And like Terry, I mean, the next morning I wake up and I'm the coffee maker.
00:13:37.200 --> 00:13:46.960
We have a stovetop coffee espresso maker, and I'm looking at that thing thinking, how am I gonna unscrew it so that I can make coffee?
00:13:47.200 --> 00:13:53.360
So, and I kept thinking, I know people who don't have limbs who have children.
00:13:53.519 --> 00:13:55.759
So I was like, there has to be a way.
00:13:56.240 --> 00:14:02.639
So I stuck it between my my feet and was able to turn it that way with my good hand anyway.
00:14:03.200 --> 00:14:04.720
It was just one example, right?
00:14:04.879 --> 00:14:10.639
I mean, the things you don't realize, like how am I gonna button my pants?
00:14:10.879 --> 00:14:13.840
Or, you know, just so many things, even getting shirts on.
00:14:14.000 --> 00:14:15.360
But there was always a way.
00:14:15.759 --> 00:14:18.000
So, Terry, did you go through that as well?
00:14:18.240 --> 00:14:20.799
Like you got or were you angry?
00:14:20.960 --> 00:14:24.559
Were you confused, or were you like, oh, this is just a test?
00:14:25.360 --> 00:14:31.200
Well, my first inclination was, okay, how am I gonna figure this out?
00:14:31.840 --> 00:14:34.799
How am I going to figure this out?
00:14:35.440 --> 00:14:37.600
Which tends to be what I like to do.
00:14:37.759 --> 00:14:39.440
I like to self-reliance.
00:14:39.679 --> 00:14:41.840
I'm a very independent woman.
00:14:42.000 --> 00:14:53.759
I've run businesses, I've taken care, you know, I am I'm I'm the decider of most things in our home and uh, you know, manage my household.
00:14:53.840 --> 00:14:54.720
I do all of that.
00:14:54.799 --> 00:14:58.720
And so how am I gonna figure out how to make this work?
00:14:59.279 --> 00:15:01.759
And you know, it comes to surrender.
00:15:02.399 --> 00:15:04.639
It just comes to surrender.
00:15:04.720 --> 00:15:17.039
And I'm it's funny that y'all brought up James because that's what we're focusing on in my uh I I have a study hall that I do with the ladies at our church, and we're focusing on James.
00:15:17.200 --> 00:15:23.120
And you know, I I don't know that I find it pure joy in all my trials.
00:15:23.840 --> 00:15:25.120
Thank you for being truthful.
00:15:25.360 --> 00:15:29.600
Like we need to be real as women, like this is not easy.
00:15:29.919 --> 00:15:37.279
Well, I'm gonna tell you that joy is not the first emotion that happens for me uh in anything like that.
00:15:37.440 --> 00:15:40.720
You know, it the first thing is like Kendra said, why?
00:15:40.879 --> 00:15:42.000
Why is this happening to me?
00:15:42.080 --> 00:15:43.039
I mean, I'm the one here.
00:15:43.120 --> 00:15:44.960
We are three weeks before Christmas.
00:15:45.919 --> 00:15:47.759
Uh Christmas is at my house.
00:15:47.840 --> 00:15:50.080
I didn't have any decorations this year.
00:15:50.240 --> 00:15:54.320
I had no tree, I had no nothing, but it was fine.
00:15:54.480 --> 00:15:55.759
It was absolutely fine.
00:15:55.840 --> 00:16:00.559
And I feel like that was God saying, you know, just let the Holy Spirit work.
00:16:00.720 --> 00:16:03.759
You don't need all of that, you don't need all of that.
00:16:03.919 --> 00:16:14.799
Unclutter it, enjoy, and I'm gonna tell you, it was one of the best Christmases we have ever had because I was not stressed out to the max.
00:16:15.039 --> 00:16:17.759
I was allowing, here's another thing.
00:16:17.919 --> 00:16:19.840
I don't like to ask for help.
00:16:20.639 --> 00:16:21.440
Do y'all?
00:16:22.879 --> 00:16:25.279
I don't like I don't like to ask for help.
00:16:25.360 --> 00:16:30.799
I I you know, somewhere in my mind that I look at that as a weakness and all of that kind of stuff.
00:16:31.039 --> 00:16:36.000
So I had to humble myself and ask for help.
00:16:36.240 --> 00:16:39.600
Um, not just from the people around me, but from God.
00:16:40.320 --> 00:16:48.399
And uh, you know, help me figure out what I can do to, okay, now I've got to figure out how to help take care of my husband as well.
00:16:49.120 --> 00:16:57.200
So, you know, God was telling me, I believe, that hey, it's not all up to you, it's up to me.
00:16:57.519 --> 00:17:04.799
And what Kendra was sharing about, you know, it's easy to praise God when you're on the mountaintop and it's harder to praise him in the valley.
00:17:05.359 --> 00:17:07.200
Um, it truly is.
00:17:07.519 --> 00:17:11.759
And those trials, those, you know, it's a testing.
00:17:11.839 --> 00:17:19.920
I I if I'm a firm believer that God gives us the test, then he gives us the lesson.
00:17:20.160 --> 00:17:24.160
And if we don't learn the lesson, we get the test again.
00:17:24.480 --> 00:17:24.799
Amen.
00:17:25.519 --> 00:17:25.839
That's good.
00:17:26.079 --> 00:17:28.000
And I didn't want another broken wrist.
00:17:28.319 --> 00:17:31.519
So I was trying to learn my lesson.
00:17:31.680 --> 00:17:35.440
My lesson of my husband and I probably need to work better together.
00:17:35.680 --> 00:17:41.279
I need to rely more on God, I need to find what it is he's trying to teach me.
00:17:41.440 --> 00:17:46.240
I want to learn the lesson fast so that the testing can be done.
00:17:46.480 --> 00:17:48.799
And um, you know, fully relying on him.
00:17:49.039 --> 00:17:53.359
It's hard, I don't typically fully rely on him when I'm at the mountaintop and celebrating.
00:17:53.440 --> 00:17:58.799
I may be praising him, but I'm not as reliant on him as I am through the trials.
00:17:59.359 --> 00:18:10.559
So my my cure for that is to learn to be reliant in every season, in every whether I'm ascending or descending.
00:18:11.359 --> 00:18:15.359
We really need to up-level how we're taking care of our temple.
00:18:15.440 --> 00:18:19.519
I used to treat mine like a garbage can, I will just be honest.
00:18:19.839 --> 00:18:22.400
And I'm not okay with that anymore.
00:18:22.640 --> 00:18:38.400
So, this is one of the most important things to me is that I'm taking high-quality supplements that are actually doing what they say they're doing, and I'm getting my money's worth, and I'm not making my body worse by putting the wrong stuff in it.
00:18:38.480 --> 00:18:48.000
So let's talk about Hormone Tame Essential Multivitamin, because even though it gives you all the vitamins and minerals you need, there's extra goodness in there, isn't there?
00:18:48.160 --> 00:18:49.839
I think you have a bottle sitting next to you.
00:18:50.079 --> 00:18:50.400
I do.
00:18:50.720 --> 00:18:52.160
Tell us about Hormone Tame.
00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:54.799
Hormone Tame is five products in one.
00:18:54.880 --> 00:19:15.759
Um, if you listen to the the other episode, one of the things that we talked about is oftentimes, you know, women are just people, we're taking a lot of supplements, and the nice thing about a lot of the um supplements that we have here at Fast of Faith is that they're just so consolidated, where you could take this and you are basically taking five products.
00:19:16.000 --> 00:19:19.359
So, yes, this is gonna be a multivitamin, but there is so much more.
00:19:19.440 --> 00:19:23.279
We actually kind of refer to it as a multivitamin on um steroids.
00:19:23.440 --> 00:19:27.200
One of the key things that this is gonna be helping is your mitochondria.
00:19:27.519 --> 00:19:34.319
All you need to know is that they are responsible for so many systems and processes in your body.
00:19:34.480 --> 00:19:41.119
The reason that we need supplements is because we're just supplementing areas that we just can't really kind of get with our food.
00:19:41.200 --> 00:19:42.880
So we're filling in those gaps.
00:19:43.039 --> 00:19:48.480
And so Hormone Tame is inviting the body to just fill in all of those gaps.
00:19:48.640 --> 00:19:52.160
So you gotta fill those gaps, and hormone tame it will help to do that.
00:19:54.240 --> 00:19:58.160
Yeah, and that's a daily practice, it really is.
00:19:58.480 --> 00:20:15.039
And when I listen to you all speak, and even when I speak, like I hear the words from the Bible in our talk, in our sentences, they're just woven into what we think, who we are at this point in our life.
00:20:15.200 --> 00:20:18.960
And that is such a beautiful gift.
00:20:19.279 --> 00:20:36.559
But we actually had to deliberately get in the word and read it every day and listen to it and and say it out loud and repeat it to to get that into our brain, you know, to create new neural pathways in there.
00:20:36.720 --> 00:20:40.880
And that is that is all I want at this point.
00:20:41.039 --> 00:20:45.759
You know, when Terry was talking, I just kept thinking, God gives and he takes away.
00:20:45.920 --> 00:20:48.799
It's everything under the sun is owned by him.
00:20:49.039 --> 00:20:56.240
Like we think we're making things and owning things and creating things, and and we can do it on our own fruition.
00:20:56.559 --> 00:21:01.359
And God is like, no, girl, you get to do it because I allow you to do it.
00:21:01.519 --> 00:21:03.839
I give you the grace and the ability to do it.
00:21:04.000 --> 00:21:05.680
And it's like, oh dang.
00:21:06.160 --> 00:21:11.039
So I think we all need to be broken of this self-reliance.
00:21:11.279 --> 00:21:14.480
And it's hard because humans have failed us.
00:21:14.720 --> 00:21:23.839
We're moms, we're business owners, we're all the things, and so we're we have this mindset of like, yeah, we have to do it.
00:21:24.079 --> 00:21:27.839
And I'm grateful because I'm trying to learn lessons from you ladies.
00:21:27.920 --> 00:21:32.720
I'm not trying to go through this again, you know, and through my past experience.
00:21:32.880 --> 00:21:35.039
Um, how are you feeling about all this?
00:21:35.279 --> 00:21:43.920
Yeah, I'm thinking about, so I'd like to take it all the way back to when we started the coaching academy because um Terry and Kendra were in our very first cohort.
00:21:44.079 --> 00:21:46.160
Oh yeah, and they were partners.
00:21:46.400 --> 00:21:47.519
And so I look back.
00:21:49.759 --> 00:21:54.720
So I look back and I see God had this planned all along.
00:21:55.039 --> 00:21:59.759
So they were comfortable, they got comfortable with each other then.
00:22:00.319 --> 00:22:03.279
Because they were partners, and you guys, I'll let you guys share that story.
00:22:03.680 --> 00:22:09.839
But then it Kendra obviously reached out to Terry as soon as she broke her wrist, because that's what we all said to do in our community.
00:22:09.920 --> 00:22:14.160
Because Kendra broke her wrist and we instantly went to, well, Terry just went through this, you got to reach out.
00:22:14.400 --> 00:22:16.960
But they had such a connection from before.
00:22:17.119 --> 00:22:21.920
So if I would have reached out to Kendra, we wouldn't have had that close relationship before.
00:22:22.079 --> 00:22:23.839
So it would have been different.
00:22:24.079 --> 00:22:29.920
But because they could talk about things that no one else understood, because they had they had already built a relationship.
00:22:30.160 --> 00:22:33.279
So I see it as God knew this years ago.
00:22:33.440 --> 00:22:36.240
I'm so sorry, girls, that this happened.
00:22:36.480 --> 00:22:37.039
But it did.
00:22:37.200 --> 00:22:44.559
So why don't you guys talk a little bit about the coaching academy and what it brought to you and that aspect from your guys' relationship?
00:22:44.880 --> 00:22:49.279
Yeah, well, I think I saw Terry out because I was like, she looks fun.
00:22:49.440 --> 00:22:51.440
And I think I need her in my life.
00:22:51.680 --> 00:22:53.599
So Terry is fun.
00:22:54.720 --> 00:22:59.359
I remember when you said, okay, partner up, and we didn't know anybody.
00:22:59.519 --> 00:22:59.839
Yep.
00:23:00.000 --> 00:23:01.599
So it's a little awkward.
00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:05.599
But when we were forced to actually do it, I think, is that right, Terry?
00:23:05.680 --> 00:23:07.039
Did I reach out to you first?
00:23:07.359 --> 00:23:07.920
You did.
00:23:08.240 --> 00:23:08.400
Yeah.
00:23:08.799 --> 00:23:11.200
And I was like, girl, will you be mine?
00:23:12.160 --> 00:23:14.720
And I was so happy with that somebody picked me.
00:23:14.799 --> 00:23:18.079
I mean, I was like, because I was like, I don't even know who to ask.
00:23:18.160 --> 00:23:19.119
I don't know what to do.
00:23:19.279 --> 00:23:22.319
You know, and so Ken, I'm like, yes, absolutely.
00:23:22.640 --> 00:23:29.519
That's so wild because I would see that flipped because I feel like now you're super outgoing and you've grown so much.
00:23:29.680 --> 00:23:33.519
But I would have seen Terry you asking before that.
00:23:33.839 --> 00:23:35.200
That's a cool opportunity.
00:23:35.359 --> 00:23:37.680
I mean, she was looking to put the spot.
00:23:37.920 --> 00:23:38.240
Okay.
00:23:38.480 --> 00:23:43.200
And yes, I was, and I was thrilled because I thought, okay, I'm the old woman in the whole bunch.
00:23:43.599 --> 00:23:46.000
Nobody's gonna want nobody's gonna want to do this with me.
00:23:46.400 --> 00:23:48.079
Oh no, but you're wise.
00:23:48.240 --> 00:23:49.519
You're so wise.
00:23:49.759 --> 00:23:55.920
And that is something that I feel like as a culture, like we're feeling in is the intergenerational.
00:23:56.400 --> 00:24:04.319
So my mom passed away like seven years ago, and I really miss having somebody in a different season.
00:24:04.559 --> 00:24:13.440
We it's so easy for us to connect with people in similar seasons, but it's harder for us to grow and to learn when everyone's experiencing the same thing.
00:24:13.599 --> 00:24:16.480
So I was like, Terry, I want to learn from you.
00:24:16.720 --> 00:24:17.440
Oh my gosh.
00:24:17.519 --> 00:24:24.240
I think of the crabs in the pot, and they're all just like trying to climb out of the pot together and they just keep pulling each other down.
00:24:24.400 --> 00:24:31.039
Like you need somebody outside of the pot, outside of your situation to help teach you how to climb out of there, right?
00:24:31.920 --> 00:24:33.279
Yeah, absolutely.
00:24:33.519 --> 00:24:47.920
That put that makes me think about Titus too and what the design was for us, for us to be spiritual mothers to those who are coming behind us, yeah, and to be the spiritual daughters of those who have gone before us.
00:24:48.319 --> 00:24:55.279
So learning how to be discipled as well as how to disciple the next ones coming.
00:24:55.839 --> 00:24:57.839
And uh it is so important.
00:24:57.920 --> 00:25:08.160
And it is, you know, like Kendra said, I think that we have in as a society, we've compartmentalized people and said, okay, you stay with this group.
00:25:08.240 --> 00:25:12.160
I mean, you know, if you think about it, it starts in school.
00:25:12.400 --> 00:25:12.640
Right.
00:25:13.039 --> 00:25:16.640
We're we're with the people who are our age, and that's all we're with.
00:25:17.279 --> 00:25:25.519
And we need we need to have direction from those who have experience in what we're trying to achieve.
00:25:25.680 --> 00:25:37.599
And then we need to be willing to share our experience with someone else and be transparent about it, not just the, hey, look, this is it's all wonderful and everything.
00:25:37.920 --> 00:25:43.440
So that's one of the things I really strive hard to do is to be authentic and to share.
00:25:43.599 --> 00:25:46.720
When I'm struggling, I'm struggling with this and I need your help.
00:25:46.799 --> 00:25:47.920
I need your prayers.
00:25:48.400 --> 00:25:55.519
So just reaching out into the community and asking for prayers is one of the, oh, I think it's just so powerful.
00:25:56.400 --> 00:25:57.440
Yeah, I do too.
00:25:57.599 --> 00:26:05.519
And I I feel sad when women start to kind of back away and you can see they're getting silent and they're not showing up, and you're like, where are they?
00:26:05.759 --> 00:26:09.279
And so that's when I think it's important for us to reach out, which we do.
00:26:09.440 --> 00:26:21.519
But I I think one of the unique things about our community is we are all different shapes, sizes, walks of life, different ages, where a lot of times these communities are built, like you're saying, like we're all in seventh grade together.
00:26:21.680 --> 00:26:22.960
But that's not what this is.
00:26:23.039 --> 00:26:25.039
We're not all busy moms right now.
00:26:25.279 --> 00:26:32.079
And it's nice to be able to reach out to someone who's almost done being a busy mom and say, like, how did you do this?
00:26:32.240 --> 00:26:37.440
and have those connections and reach out to Terry, who is at a totally different stage than we are.
00:26:37.839 --> 00:26:46.079
And so I think that's what's really unique about our sisterhood, not only our coaching sisterhood, but also our fast of faith sisterhood as well.
00:26:46.319 --> 00:26:47.920
Yeah, I really agree with that.
00:26:48.079 --> 00:27:15.279
And just to like give you an idea of the depth that was created by this simple like homework assignment when we were doing the coaching academy, is last year, about this time, I was really struggling in my marriage, and I wanted someone that I could go to that was not gonna be like, oh yeah, poor you, Kendra, but was gonna be like, you know what?
00:27:15.839 --> 00:27:19.279
You got this, and these are the action steps that you need to do.
00:27:19.440 --> 00:27:23.359
And so without even thinking, I just reached out to Terry again.
00:27:23.599 --> 00:27:31.039
So here's Terry, just a fellow coach, but has now become like a marriage counselor for me.
00:27:32.319 --> 00:27:46.960
So I'm just so thankful for the way that you guys have really encouraged and initiated and helped us go deeper in the relationships as coaches, because you're right, it builds our confidence.
00:27:47.119 --> 00:27:51.039
Like now I don't have to be the person, I know the people.
00:27:51.359 --> 00:27:53.119
Oh it's so different.
00:27:53.599 --> 00:27:59.839
Yeah, I love that, and you never outgrow the need for a coach or a mentor.
00:28:00.000 --> 00:28:04.880
Like, I promise you, I still have people guiding me all the time.
00:28:05.119 --> 00:28:11.519
So does Ashley, and that is just I think that is how God created us to be.
00:28:11.759 --> 00:28:24.319
Yeah, and it's for me, and I know for you too, it means so much hearing you guys say that because we sh I know, we struggle because we want to be everything for all of you, but we can't.
00:28:24.559 --> 00:28:27.200
Like we just we don't have the capacity, the time.
00:28:27.839 --> 00:28:30.160
And so I love that.
00:28:30.240 --> 00:28:37.119
And I I hope if you are one of our coaches and you're listening, reach out to your partner because that is a homework assignment, like you said.
00:28:37.359 --> 00:28:41.200
So reach back out to that partner, even if it's been 18 months, two years.
00:28:41.440 --> 00:28:51.200
And if you're not part of our community, maybe you need to consider it because we have partners inside of here that can help you, and we have a whole sisterhood willing to help you.
00:28:51.279 --> 00:28:54.000
There's several different ways you can get inside of our community.
00:28:54.240 --> 00:28:56.400
So I think, yeah, right.
00:28:56.559 --> 00:29:03.359
And like the reason women join is because they want to get their health back and they want to feel good in their body again.
00:29:03.680 --> 00:29:07.920
But what happens is God starts fixing your whole life.
00:29:08.160 --> 00:29:09.279
Yeah, it's so true.
00:29:10.240 --> 00:29:16.000
Yeah, you you nourish your soul and the rest follows, you know, it balances out.
00:29:16.160 --> 00:29:21.039
And I love the fact that there is such an emphasis on relationship.
00:29:21.200 --> 00:29:25.519
I had a pastor who used to say, you know, it's not about religion, it's about relationship.
00:29:25.680 --> 00:29:44.160
And that's how you bring other people to Christ is by first building that relationship with them and them gaining your trust and letting them in and letting them see that I'm not perfect just because I'm a Christian.
00:29:44.400 --> 00:29:45.920
Here's my mess.
00:29:46.480 --> 00:29:53.200
And I'm in I'm gonna invite you into it so you can see that I walk through this mess every day.
00:29:53.359 --> 00:30:05.039
I have to surrender my will to God every day and listen for Him to give me direction in order for a message to come out of the mess.
00:30:06.319 --> 00:30:06.799
100%.
00:30:07.359 --> 00:30:08.480
Yeah, that's so good.
00:30:08.640 --> 00:30:25.039
And it makes me think of when I first heard from Ashley that you guys were gonna do a coaching certification course, and I had actually checked into a different program and just couldn't follow through because I couldn't imagine doing this without Christ being the center.
00:30:25.200 --> 00:30:28.720
And so I just kind of pulled back and just was like, it's not the time.
00:30:28.960 --> 00:30:30.799
And then it just appears.
00:30:31.200 --> 00:30:38.880
And even with that, I'm like second guessing myself because you have these pictures of what a coach should look like.
00:30:39.359 --> 00:30:44.000
And I remember Ashley being like, Girl, you just gotta do this.
00:30:44.160 --> 00:30:47.359
And I was like, I do like Ashley.
00:30:48.480 --> 00:30:56.079
So anyway, I did it, but I was not in a place that you would look at me and think, oh, she should add something to her plate right now.
00:30:56.160 --> 00:30:56.480
Yeah.
00:30:56.799 --> 00:31:05.599
And it actually was really hard for me to go through it, but that's where my transformation went to a new level.
00:31:05.839 --> 00:31:13.759
And it was actually, I mean, the material that we were learning, but for me, it was mindset.
00:31:14.240 --> 00:31:15.920
It really was mindset.
00:31:16.079 --> 00:31:25.599
I had chased for literally decades the whole health journey and what foods are good, what's the right movement, how much sleep do you need?
00:31:25.759 --> 00:31:28.400
I felt like I could coach anyone through all of those.
00:31:28.720 --> 00:31:32.160
But for me, my mindset just had me stuck.
00:31:32.720 --> 00:31:37.119
And so as that started changing, I was thinking about it.
00:31:37.200 --> 00:31:40.480
And a year ago, I was in a pretty bad place.
00:31:41.759 --> 00:31:49.359
And in in that matter of time, I was able to release you know, 10 plus pounds.
00:31:50.240 --> 00:31:54.319
But it's not even about the pounds, it's what those pounds represented.
00:31:54.640 --> 00:32:00.799
And those pounds for me, they represented me carrying things that were not mine to carry.
00:32:01.519 --> 00:32:11.599
And as a result, I would go to food or I would, you know, kind of get um depressed and become paralyzed.
00:32:12.160 --> 00:32:16.880
And all the while God's saying, That's not yours, honey.
00:32:17.440 --> 00:32:18.319
That's mine.
00:32:18.720 --> 00:32:30.079
And so I just think back and I'm like, I really think I would be the client, but really it was the coaching certification that actually helped me break that wall.
00:32:30.400 --> 00:32:32.799
And I just it's changed my life forever.
00:32:33.039 --> 00:32:33.279
Wow.
00:32:33.519 --> 00:32:36.400
Yeah, we've heard that quite a few times, actually.
00:32:36.960 --> 00:32:42.799
It's like you you don't think you're ready, yeah, but you're not supposed to be ready.
00:32:43.200 --> 00:32:43.599
Right.
00:32:43.920 --> 00:32:45.759
No one can relate to someone that's perfect.
00:32:46.079 --> 00:32:50.000
So if you wait and you feel perfect, you're actually too late.
00:32:50.160 --> 00:32:50.960
You've missed the mark.
00:32:51.200 --> 00:32:52.000
Like, I'm serious.
00:32:52.160 --> 00:32:59.119
Yeah, we have never launched anything that's been perfect, we've never done anything that's been perfect because when we do, we that's a lie.
00:32:59.200 --> 00:33:02.960
We probably have, and then it's been too late, and we've both been like, well, that was silly.
00:33:03.119 --> 00:33:04.319
We wasted our time.
00:33:04.480 --> 00:33:08.400
So yeah, you just do it messy because you're gonna learn something.
00:33:08.640 --> 00:33:14.880
Yeah, my mentor always says, take messy action, like consistency creates change.
00:33:15.200 --> 00:33:26.240
And I just want to share with listeners who maybe don't even know the story of how the coaching academy was founded because God is doing incredible work, ladies.
00:33:26.400 --> 00:33:29.680
Like this was not our idea at all.
00:33:30.240 --> 00:33:43.839
I had won a trip to this wine cave in California with one of my mentors, and uh I was at the season where I wasn't drinking at all.
00:33:44.000 --> 00:33:50.160
And so I kept saying, like, why do I want to go to a wine cave for three days when I'm not drinking?
00:33:50.319 --> 00:33:51.519
This sounds stupid.
00:33:51.680 --> 00:33:55.599
And my mentor kept saying, You just need to go, you just need to show up.
00:33:55.680 --> 00:33:58.559
And it's across the country, it's a big deal.
00:33:58.880 --> 00:34:04.079
And I had no idea why I was going, and I went back and forth with God.
00:34:04.160 --> 00:34:09.920
I didn't book the flights, and finally he made it clear like, you just need to go.
00:34:10.079 --> 00:34:11.920
I've set this up for you.
00:34:12.079 --> 00:34:13.440
You're supposed to go.
00:34:14.880 --> 00:34:27.039
And the first day I got there, I met a woman who helped us create the coaching academy, Cynthia Garcia, and she looked at me and she said, You are sitting on a movement.
00:34:27.599 --> 00:34:33.760
You have something huge that you're about to create and do for the women in your life.
00:34:33.840 --> 00:34:35.679
And I was like, What are you talking about?
00:34:35.840 --> 00:34:36.400
Who are you?
00:34:36.559 --> 00:34:37.760
What is going on?
00:34:38.000 --> 00:34:43.920
And she just spoke life over me, and this is not a Christian woman.
00:34:44.239 --> 00:34:46.079
God used her anyway.
00:34:46.320 --> 00:34:47.599
That is what I love.
00:34:47.760 --> 00:34:54.320
Like, don't discount things because they don't look and you know, aren't planned out the way you would think.
00:34:54.559 --> 00:34:57.679
And so I said, Okay, God, what should I do?
00:34:57.760 --> 00:35:02.559
And he said, be open, listen, and see what I have planned for you.
00:35:02.800 --> 00:35:10.400
And by the time I left California, I knew I was going to start a coaching academy.
00:35:10.480 --> 00:35:15.119
And I texted Ashley and she was like, Okay, let's go, girl.
00:35:15.360 --> 00:35:17.280
Yeah, well, but then let's back up.
00:35:17.360 --> 00:35:23.199
So that was like February of that year, and then in January of that year, that was when I was really struggling.
00:35:23.280 --> 00:35:29.760
So I had been about a year since leaving school, and I was really struggling with still being a beach body coach.
00:35:30.000 --> 00:35:43.039
And so I was running on the treadmill one morning and I was like, whatever you need, like I just need you to take it away because I was really considering giving up my coaching, but giving it up meant giving up a lot of income that I had worked really hard at a lot of residual income.
00:35:43.119 --> 00:35:44.320
So it was going to impact my family.
00:35:44.480 --> 00:35:46.320
I was gonna need to bring that back.
00:35:46.480 --> 00:35:51.119
And so I was literally running on the treadmill and I was obsessed with energize at the time.
00:35:51.280 --> 00:36:01.840
And um, I like was I'm pretty adamant with my hands and I was like talking to the Lord and I literally hit the energize out of the treadmill, which if you guys know energize at all, it's this yellow product.
00:36:01.920 --> 00:36:02.960
It was a disaster.
00:36:03.119 --> 00:36:09.599
We had just had our house painted, so my whole basement was like splattered in the seal, it was all over my treadmill, and I was like, okay, I'm gonna quit.
00:36:09.679 --> 00:36:15.599
I literally went and got my computer and I resigned from Beachbody that moment because I was like, if I don't do this now, I'm not gonna do this.
00:36:15.679 --> 00:36:16.880
But I know what, I know what's happening.
00:36:17.119 --> 00:36:22.159
And I haven't had a drink of Energize since that day either, because I felt like he's taking that away and I didn't want that mess.
00:36:22.400 --> 00:36:29.199
And so I never even told Tabitha that I left Beachbody at the time because I was like, I gotta figure out how we're gonna like make this income up or whatever.
00:36:29.360 --> 00:36:32.880
And so then when she texts me that, I was it it took a while.
00:36:33.039 --> 00:36:37.199
Like she, I was like, I remember being like, okay, like what is happening here?
00:36:37.440 --> 00:36:46.000
And so, but it took a while for me to put together, like, remember you left a coaching and like you have a reason to do this.
00:36:46.159 --> 00:36:49.119
And so that's how the coaching academy was birthed.
00:36:49.199 --> 00:37:03.920
And we it was quick and like we moved, but something that we did was everything that bugged me about coaching, and everything that bugged her about different things we have put together in this business in a box, essentially.
00:37:04.079 --> 00:37:10.239
And so we've fixed kind of all the problems um that we see inside of these coaching groups.
00:37:10.480 --> 00:37:10.880
Yeah.
00:37:11.119 --> 00:37:21.440
So I just I wanted to highlight the fact that this is God's work and God's plan, and we're all just finally surrendering and being obedient.
00:37:21.519 --> 00:37:33.360
And look at how beautifully it's coming together because I truly don't think I could have gotten through the past five years without this group of women and without God.
00:37:33.440 --> 00:37:41.760
And it sounds like you two ladies would have not had the same kind of year if you hadn't been in this group, right?
00:37:41.920 --> 00:37:42.800
Yeah, absolutely.
00:37:43.039 --> 00:37:44.320
Absolutely, absolutely.
00:37:44.480 --> 00:37:54.719
I want to go back to something that Kendra said when she was talking about it being so much about the mindset because that was the same experience I had.
00:37:55.039 --> 00:37:58.239
And I had done some of the same things Kendra was talking about.
00:37:58.320 --> 00:38:07.119
I mean, I had been, I'd been deep in rabbit holes with functional health for quite some time through some of my own health challenges.
00:38:07.440 --> 00:38:13.679
And uh, you know, I had the mindset that it was about control.
00:38:14.559 --> 00:38:24.880
If I could control everything about my health, if I could control my activity, if I could control all my macros, my calories, my weight.
00:38:25.039 --> 00:38:27.119
I was an obsessive wear.
00:38:27.519 --> 00:38:35.840
I mean, weighing several times a day because the number might change and might affect me in a different way.
00:38:36.079 --> 00:38:41.920
And, you know, it never mattered what the number was, it was not satisfying.
00:38:42.880 --> 00:38:52.719
And um I, you know, I just had this idea if I track it all, I track my sleep, I track my activity, I track this, I can control exactly what's going on.
00:38:52.960 --> 00:38:56.480
And I couldn't what I had to do was surrender.
00:38:56.880 --> 00:39:00.239
I had to surrender it all to the Lord.
00:39:00.559 --> 00:39:05.599
And I had such, I call it diet brain, diet mentality, whatever.
00:39:05.760 --> 00:39:07.519
It needed to be starved.
00:39:07.760 --> 00:39:20.800
I mean, it needed to be starved so that I could bury it, get rid of it out of my life, and not have that, those thoughts anymore.
00:39:21.119 --> 00:39:24.719
And that took me throwing away my scale.
00:39:25.679 --> 00:39:41.360
I very clearly had God say to me, you have got to trust your body to work the way I designed it, as long as you supply it with the things I've given you.
00:39:42.320 --> 00:39:46.239
And if you don't trust your body, you don't trust me.
00:39:49.599 --> 00:39:50.480
That hurt.
00:39:50.880 --> 00:39:53.519
That was a little testing there, wasn't it?
00:39:53.760 --> 00:39:58.639
And so I it was June the 8th when that was revealed to me.
00:39:58.800 --> 00:40:04.800
My birthday was September the 8th, so basically 90 days, and I said, okay, I'm giving it up for 90 days.
00:40:05.199 --> 00:40:07.519
Giving it up for 90 days, and let me tell you, it was hard.
00:40:07.599 --> 00:40:11.679
I had to hide it because I was so used to going in and stepping on it.
00:40:11.840 --> 00:40:14.559
I had to put it up out of sight.
00:40:14.880 --> 00:40:18.639
And I thought, okay, well, I'll weigh on my birthday.
00:40:19.199 --> 00:40:32.639
And my birthday came and I felt so good not allowing a number to define how I was gonna feel about myself that day, that I was like, I I'm not doing this.
00:40:32.800 --> 00:40:34.960
I I may never weigh again.
00:40:35.840 --> 00:40:42.079
And I had to go to the doctor for an annual checkup last week, and they, oh, you need to go back there and step on the scale.
00:40:42.159 --> 00:40:45.679
And I just looked at her and I said, You do not need to say anything when I step on the scale.
00:40:45.760 --> 00:40:48.320
I don't care what the number is, I do not want to hear it.
00:40:48.480 --> 00:40:53.920
I am trying not to let things cloud my mind that don't need to.
00:40:54.159 --> 00:40:56.320
And she was like, Whoa, that's good.
00:40:58.239 --> 00:41:00.559
That's been so freedom.
00:41:01.280 --> 00:41:05.519
Yes, yeah, yes, and God wants us to live in that freedom.
00:41:06.719 --> 00:41:08.559
Oh, you're giving me goosebumps.
00:41:08.880 --> 00:41:09.599
Yeah, so good.
00:41:09.840 --> 00:41:19.599
All right, ladies, why don't you tell the audience listening, what is one piece of advice that you wish you would have had when you both broke your wrist?
00:41:22.000 --> 00:41:26.880
Or that you were so glad that you got being a coach that you implemented.
00:41:28.320 --> 00:41:31.199
Like what what was the biggest thing that got you through?
00:41:32.480 --> 00:41:36.000
Well, I mean, no, you go, you go.
00:41:36.400 --> 00:41:42.960
Probably learning that it was okay for me, or knowing that it was okay for me to ask for help.
00:41:43.280 --> 00:41:46.960
Um and asking for help did not mean I was weak.
00:41:47.199 --> 00:41:49.039
It meant that I was smart.
00:41:49.360 --> 00:41:49.760
Yes.
00:41:50.079 --> 00:41:57.039
Rather than trying to do things that I shouldn't be trying to do in order for my my hand to heal.
00:41:57.199 --> 00:42:02.079
Um, my hand's real important to me, and I wanted it to work the right way.
00:42:02.559 --> 00:42:06.400
So I did, I was cautioned against falling again.
00:42:06.480 --> 00:42:08.159
So I was very careful.
00:42:08.400 --> 00:42:13.199
Um, but but so you know, asking my husband to do things for me.
00:42:13.360 --> 00:42:20.800
I mean, girls, I'm gonna tell you, I think that he ought to be able to read my mind and just know when I need something and do it.
00:42:21.119 --> 00:42:27.760
But learning to ask because he doesn't know he's a man, he's made different than I am.
00:42:28.159 --> 00:42:33.039
He doesn't know that I need the face cleanser opened when I have to clean my face.
00:42:33.679 --> 00:42:37.679
Even though you've been married to him for a hundred years, he doesn't know it's fine.
00:42:38.000 --> 00:42:42.000
Yes, I mean, you know, so I'm interested to hear this today.
00:42:42.159 --> 00:42:42.960
Thank you.
00:42:43.360 --> 00:42:55.360
Understanding that it's really hard for my needs to be met if someone doesn't know what my needs are, which is not just bringing those needs to my husband, but bringing those needs to my father.
00:42:55.920 --> 00:42:58.400
And I mean, he already knows my needs.
00:42:58.719 --> 00:43:07.519
But me humbling myself to tell him what those needs are and with full expectation that he will fill them.
00:43:08.559 --> 00:43:14.320
That is what I wish I already knew before I broke my wrist.
00:43:14.639 --> 00:43:17.440
And maybe I wouldn't have had to break my wrist to find out, right?
00:43:19.599 --> 00:43:20.239
So good.
00:43:21.360 --> 00:43:40.559
Yeah, I feel like just in general, I've learned and I would tell others to trust the process and remember that God already knew.
00:43:40.880 --> 00:43:58.800
Because as soon as I changed that mindset, like Terry, I was like, huh, maybe he does want me to ask for help a little bit more, and maybe my oldest daughter could cook a little bit more in my house than because maybe he's working on her and she's loved it.
00:43:59.280 --> 00:44:01.199
And I I mean, what did I miss?
00:44:01.280 --> 00:44:04.000
I missed chopping vegetables and I missed journaling.
00:44:04.159 --> 00:44:06.159
Those were like the things I missed.
00:44:06.719 --> 00:44:19.599
And um but as soon as I made that mindset shift that he already knew this, that he's doing something, and I'm not gonna lie, perspective is huge.
00:44:19.840 --> 00:44:24.480
So when I left urgent care, I had a cast from my armpit to my fingers.
00:44:24.719 --> 00:44:25.199
Gosh.
00:44:25.440 --> 00:44:31.920
And I thought, oh Lord, like there's not a single piece of clothing that I would be able to wear.
00:44:32.159 --> 00:44:36.559
And so I was breathing through that and like, okay, this is where we're gonna go.
00:44:36.719 --> 00:44:42.239
And then when I showed up at the orthopedics and I was like, please tell me this is a little dramatic.
00:44:42.400 --> 00:44:44.480
And she was like, I can do a lot better.
00:44:46.079 --> 00:44:51.360
So when you walk out with a little brace, so perspective, right?
00:44:51.519 --> 00:44:53.599
Like it's huge.
00:44:53.840 --> 00:44:57.679
But yes, it's been wonderful to have to ask for help.
00:44:57.840 --> 00:44:59.760
I realize it just taps in.
00:44:59.920 --> 00:45:05.519
This is not new, this is something that's been revealed to me over this last year, but just pride.
00:45:05.760 --> 00:45:07.280
Yeah, pride is behind that.
00:45:07.440 --> 00:45:09.440
I don't want my daughter to open that jar.
00:45:09.599 --> 00:45:12.800
I can open that jar, you know, and now I can't.
00:45:13.039 --> 00:45:34.239
So it's been it's been really good, but I really think that breaking your wrist is the same as getting sick is the same as like anything that is unexpected and unplanned that reminds us that we're not actually in control, that's our opportunity to choose.
00:45:34.559 --> 00:45:40.000
We can choose joy and gratitude, or we can choose self-pity and anger.
00:45:40.239 --> 00:45:44.159
And it's like, I don't know, I don't want to live down here.
00:45:44.400 --> 00:45:45.440
Yep, exactly.
00:45:45.920 --> 00:45:49.840
You said it, you made a choice, and that is what we are called to do.
00:45:50.079 --> 00:45:57.519
We can't be double-minded, we have to just trust God and say, okay, I'm gonna lean into you, you are in control.
00:45:58.000 --> 00:46:06.159
And I was looking for a scripture today thinking about like a scripture that says, I trust you, Lord.
00:46:06.239 --> 00:46:09.199
And I came up with Jeremiah 17, 7 and 8.
00:46:09.280 --> 00:46:10.559
I'm gonna read it.
00:46:10.960 --> 00:46:16.480
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
00:46:16.880 --> 00:46:23.280
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
00:46:23.519 --> 00:46:35.199
It does not fear when the heat comes, its leaves are always green, it has no worries in a year of drought, and it never fails to bear fruit.
00:46:35.519 --> 00:46:41.360
So that is what I aspire to be like is this little tree by the stream.
00:46:41.679 --> 00:46:42.159
Yes.
00:46:43.280 --> 00:46:44.159
Oh my gosh.
00:46:44.400 --> 00:46:45.599
Thank you, ladies, so much.
00:46:45.760 --> 00:46:46.880
This was awesome.
00:46:47.199 --> 00:46:47.760
It was.
00:46:47.920 --> 00:46:49.679
It's so good to be with you all.
00:46:50.000 --> 00:46:50.880
Yeah, you too.
00:46:51.039 --> 00:46:51.679
Yeah, I love it.
00:46:51.840 --> 00:46:52.880
God is so good.
00:46:53.199 --> 00:46:55.519
Go out and be Christ's hands to serve.
00:46:55.599 --> 00:47:00.639
And if you want to be a part of our sisterhood, we want to have you.
00:47:00.800 --> 00:47:05.599
If you are feeling that nudge, that is from the Holy Spirit.
00:47:05.840 --> 00:47:17.920
And I would really urge you just to start obeying and surrendering because it is such a gift, and there's so much freedom on the other side of obedience, which doesn't make any sense to me.
00:47:18.079 --> 00:47:21.440
I'm still trying to fathom that, but it's true, right, ladies?
00:47:21.599 --> 00:47:22.639
Yes, yeah, right.
00:47:23.119 --> 00:47:23.679
Awesome.
00:47:24.000 --> 00:47:25.360
Yay, see you next week.
00:47:25.519 --> 00:47:26.000
See ya.
00:47:26.159 --> 00:47:26.480
Bye.
