ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Fatigue you can't explain. Brain fog. Weight that won't budge no matter what you try. Dr. Tabatha and functional medicine practitioner Amy Henderson connect the dots on toxic burden - the accumulation of everyday toxins your body is quietly storing, and why your fat cells might be protecting you rather than betraying you.
Amy breaks down where toxins actually come from (hint: it's not just "dirty" environments - newer homes and golf-course neighborhoods carry real risk too), how your liver processes them in phases, and the simple, seasonal habit that helps your body finally let go of what it's been holding onto.

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:18.239
One of you ladies listening right now, the reason you can't get rid of the weight is because you're full of toxins, and that weight is actually protecting you, it's protecting your liver, your brain, your kidneys, because those toxins are toxic, and so they get sequestered in the fat cells.
00:00:18.320 --> 00:00:23.440
And every time you try to lose weight, your body says, Wait, we don't want these toxins in the bloodstream.
00:00:23.519 --> 00:00:26.640
We're gonna keep these, preserve these fat cells.
00:00:26.800 --> 00:00:30.719
The same thing is happening in the cows, in the other animals.
00:00:31.120 --> 00:00:35.600
Those they're just so full of toxins, and then we go and we eat them.
00:00:40.719 --> 00:00:55.359
What if the fatigue you can't explain, the brain fog, the headaches, the hormone symptoms, the weight that won't budge, the skin problems, the inflammation, that feeling like you're just getting old and you don't recognize yourself?
00:00:55.520 --> 00:00:59.119
What if it all is not a separate issue?
00:00:59.280 --> 00:01:08.560
What if these are not separate problems, but they have one underlying factor that connects them all?
00:01:09.040 --> 00:01:15.359
We are gonna dive into this today, and we don't talk about this a lot, but it's a really important topic.
00:01:15.680 --> 00:01:17.439
Your bucket is full.
00:01:17.519 --> 00:01:19.040
That's what we're talking about today.
00:01:19.280 --> 00:01:20.480
Toxic burden.
00:01:20.640 --> 00:01:35.680
And I know it sounds like a scary topic, but this was one of the things that actually saved me from myself, from my toxic life, helped me avoid a second back surgery, got me off of my antidepressants.
00:01:36.480 --> 00:01:41.599
It uh finally got my Hashimoto's thyroiditis under control.
00:01:41.760 --> 00:01:48.879
My antibody levels decreased, and I finally got rid of an extra 35 pounds I had carried for years.
00:01:49.200 --> 00:01:54.719
So this topic is near and dear to my heart, and I cannot wait to get into it.
00:01:54.799 --> 00:01:58.319
But first, I gotta say hi to my girl because I miss you so much.
00:01:58.480 --> 00:01:59.599
I haven't seen you in a minute.
00:01:59.840 --> 00:02:00.079
I know.
00:02:00.159 --> 00:02:01.040
How are you doing?
00:02:01.280 --> 00:02:02.000
Amazing.
00:02:02.159 --> 00:02:09.439
I went to Franklin, Tennessee to hang out with Taylor and the Novos crew for a little bit.
00:02:09.759 --> 00:02:21.919
And just for the listeners, we are recording this in August, so it's a little bit late on the drop, but there's been a lot of emotional stuff going on, you know.
00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:26.960
I'm like doing this deeper identity work and getting mentored by Taylor Welch.
00:02:27.280 --> 00:02:38.080
But in the meantime, my son is starting college, my daughter's in high school, my other daughter's like moving into a house, and like life is lifing.
00:02:38.240 --> 00:02:39.520
You're feeling that, right?
00:02:39.759 --> 00:02:41.360
Yes, it's always lifing.
00:02:42.319 --> 00:02:57.759
So I just want to give mothers in particular out there some love right now and remind them that just like we test our children and give them boundaries.
00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:06.240
This is why I'm thinking of this, because we just got my son an apartment, he is 17 years old, scaring me to death.
00:03:06.560 --> 00:03:10.719
And um I'm like, okay, here's the rules.
00:03:10.879 --> 00:03:13.039
This is how this is gonna work.
00:03:13.599 --> 00:03:18.000
And if you can't pass the little test, you're gonna come home.
00:03:18.240 --> 00:03:19.919
I love that you provided rules.
00:03:20.479 --> 00:03:23.840
Yes, like the laundry has to get done every week.
00:03:24.319 --> 00:03:30.639
If I pop into the apartment, it has to be clean, at least halfway decent, right?
00:03:30.879 --> 00:03:39.919
And so I think God does these little tests on us, and we just think it's not a big deal.
00:03:40.560 --> 00:03:43.360
Here's a here's a terrible example.
00:03:43.680 --> 00:03:48.240
My dog pooped in someone's yard the other night in the dark.
00:03:48.800 --> 00:03:50.639
Yeah, because I got home from the airport.
00:03:50.719 --> 00:03:54.080
It was already pitch black outside, but she had to go.
00:03:54.400 --> 00:03:59.919
And so my little conscience in the morning was like, you gotta go back and pick that up, right?
00:04:00.240 --> 00:04:02.639
And I think of Joyce Meyer.
00:04:02.879 --> 00:04:09.680
She talked about how it took her four years to put that grocery cart back in the stall.
00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:22.160
And she's like, that is when I finally started passing those little tests and listening to my conscience and doing what I knew was right, then God started trusting me.
00:04:22.240 --> 00:04:26.240
And I thought that's really powerful because that's what we do with our children.
00:04:26.399 --> 00:04:40.560
The more that he can show me he's responsible with this apartment, going to college, doing all the things, the more freedom I'm gonna give him, or the bigger uh responsibilities and things.
00:04:40.800 --> 00:04:49.120
So I think that we ask our father, God, for a lot of stuff, yeah, but then we don't pass the test, right?
00:04:49.360 --> 00:04:52.800
I think it's just it I do think all those little things probably matter.
00:04:52.959 --> 00:04:54.720
You gotta listen to that inner voice.
00:04:55.040 --> 00:04:55.199
Right.
00:04:55.279 --> 00:05:10.879
And I'm not talking about salvation, like you can't like uh do anything to get saved, but yeah, there is a relationship that you're trying to cultivate with Father God, and a lot of it has to do with how you are living your day-to-day life.
00:05:11.120 --> 00:05:11.439
That's true.
00:05:11.680 --> 00:05:13.439
And I think it's really important.
00:05:13.759 --> 00:05:18.959
Uh God cares about our health, he cares about our bodies and how we treat them.
00:05:19.279 --> 00:05:30.480
And so the food that you choose, the movement that you choose or don't choose, the way you do your bedtime routine, God is paying attention to that.
00:05:30.639 --> 00:05:36.800
Are you honoring him and honoring yourself, or are you just using and abusing?
00:05:37.600 --> 00:05:38.079
That's true.
00:05:38.480 --> 00:05:38.879
Very good.
00:05:39.519 --> 00:05:40.240
Yeah, I like it.
00:05:40.639 --> 00:05:42.000
Are you excited about this conversation?
00:05:42.240 --> 00:05:44.399
I'm very excited about this conversation today.
00:05:44.720 --> 00:05:44.959
Yeah.
00:05:45.759 --> 00:05:48.240
Why don't we introduce her?
00:05:48.480 --> 00:05:52.959
Because the truth is, a lot of you listening know our guest.
00:05:53.120 --> 00:05:57.519
You have worked with our virtual medical practice, and she is one of our providers.
00:05:57.680 --> 00:06:00.639
She's also one of our certified Fast of Faith coaches.
00:06:00.800 --> 00:06:09.920
So if you are in our sisterhood, or if you've done the 40-day program, you have probably heard the wisdom that comes out of this girl's mouth.
00:06:10.240 --> 00:06:10.800
Analogies.
00:06:10.879 --> 00:06:12.160
That's what I'm excited about.
00:06:12.319 --> 00:06:17.120
And I have been coaching women that she has been providing for for several years.
00:06:17.199 --> 00:06:21.199
I was actually trying to think this morning how long she's been with us, and I couldn't actually come up with the date.
00:06:21.360 --> 00:06:32.399
She probably knows, but I I always love when I um coach women that she is helping, and they'll tell me something that she said, some sort of analogy, and I'm like, oh, so good.
00:06:32.720 --> 00:06:36.319
So I'm excited for you guys as our audience to hear some of those today.
00:06:36.639 --> 00:06:49.120
Yes, because we're gonna talk to Amy Henderson, and she has the incredible ability to take complicated health concepts and just make them understandable and practical for women.
00:06:49.279 --> 00:07:09.839
Like you're gonna leave this episode today easily understanding what the heck toxic burden is, how it's impacting every aspect of your health, mind, body, and soul, and some really simple, foundational, easy things that you can do to move forward and change.
00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:12.160
So, yay, welcome, Amy.
00:07:12.879 --> 00:07:13.519
Awesome.
00:07:13.680 --> 00:07:14.879
Thank you guys so much.
00:07:15.040 --> 00:07:17.680
I'm I'm just honored and thrilled to be here.
00:07:18.240 --> 00:07:19.600
Yeah, we love you.
00:07:19.759 --> 00:07:22.399
We're so excited for this conversation.
00:07:23.279 --> 00:07:29.600
The listeners want to know how and why did you even get into this, right?
00:07:29.759 --> 00:07:40.160
Because everybody's got their pain-to-purpose journey, and I think it gives women hope of like, okay, everything I went through isn't for nothing.
00:07:40.319 --> 00:07:42.879
There's there's purpose behind it, right?
00:07:43.600 --> 00:07:44.639
Yeah, absolutely.
00:07:44.879 --> 00:07:53.040
I think we share similar stories in that I came from the conventional side of things, but ultimately I've always had gut issues.
00:07:53.199 --> 00:08:04.079
Like as a kid, I can remember going to sleepovers and being worried about when when the time would come and my IBS would hit and would people be near the bathroom.
00:08:04.240 --> 00:08:15.199
I remember locating uh restrooms in my school that were far away from people or the classrooms or anybody because I was just petrified.
00:08:15.279 --> 00:08:24.560
It plagued me really all of my life, up through college, where I was like, I'm gonna have to put my big girl panties on and like be an adult.
00:08:24.720 --> 00:08:28.240
And I have this issue that is not getting better.
00:08:28.399 --> 00:08:30.959
In fact, it's getting worse because hello, college.
00:08:31.199 --> 00:08:36.399
And um, I went to a medical provider who was like, here, just take these anti-spasmodic drugs.
00:08:36.480 --> 00:08:37.440
Um, it'll help.
00:08:37.600 --> 00:08:40.399
And I was like, that is not the right solution.
00:08:40.559 --> 00:08:42.080
I don't, I don't agree with you.
00:08:42.320 --> 00:08:46.879
And that kind of perpetuated my holistic um functional side.
00:08:47.039 --> 00:08:56.480
I I definitely stayed in the conventional system probably a little longer than I really intended to, um, and then transitioned over fully to functional medicine.
00:08:56.559 --> 00:09:09.919
So that's really what brought me here is just having my own story, like seeing that I could help heal my body myself, and then being mad that that's not often the solution that people are given.
00:09:10.320 --> 00:09:15.679
And how did you know the anti-spasmodics, things like bental weren't the answer?
00:09:15.919 --> 00:09:21.440
Is it that you took it and you realized it was just a band-aid or you didn't even go there?
00:09:22.720 --> 00:09:25.120
Uh you know, it was gosh, that's so long ago.
00:09:25.200 --> 00:09:25.919
I'm trying to remember.
00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:28.080
I know I didn't ever renew the script.
00:09:28.320 --> 00:09:35.600
I think I took a few and then felt like wow, this really is not the solution.
00:09:35.759 --> 00:09:39.919
Um, and it's not fixing anything, and it's truly just a band-aid.
00:09:40.399 --> 00:09:41.919
Yeah, absolutely.
00:09:42.240 --> 00:09:45.360
IBS to me is a garbage diagnosis.
00:09:45.519 --> 00:09:47.919
All that means is you have some symptoms.
00:09:48.080 --> 00:09:52.799
They're not really sure why I got that diagnosis in medical school as well.
00:09:52.879 --> 00:10:02.080
It was like a brand new diagnosis they had created at the time, and it was all the rage and then all the drugs, you know, that went with it.
00:10:02.240 --> 00:10:05.120
I think that's why the diagnosis was created.
00:10:05.440 --> 00:10:08.320
Um, and it's just more band-aid medicine.
00:10:08.559 --> 00:10:12.879
It under the surface, there's a lot more going on.
00:10:12.960 --> 00:10:17.039
And we've talked about gut health extensively on this podcast.
00:10:17.279 --> 00:10:27.120
Hopefully, women understand the microbiome, the digestive system a little bit at this point, but we don't get into toxins very much.
00:10:27.200 --> 00:10:33.440
We we we talk about them in reference to part of it, but we're gonna dive deep today.
00:10:33.600 --> 00:10:36.960
So, what is it, what does toxic burden even mean?
00:12:05.539 --> 00:12:21.699
Yeah, so the way I think of toxic burden is more just um an accumulation, let's put it, of um, you know, substances and compounds, and that can be external or internal.
00:12:21.860 --> 00:12:29.860
And ultimately, our body has to process through that, um, transform it, neutralize it, and then the ultimate goal is to eliminate it.
00:12:30.580 --> 00:12:34.580
So oftentimes those, like I said, exposures will come outside of us.
00:12:34.659 --> 00:12:36.019
So is that air pollution?
00:12:36.179 --> 00:12:39.220
Is that the products that we're applying to our skin?
00:12:39.379 --> 00:12:41.699
Um, do you live near a golf course?
00:12:41.779 --> 00:12:44.100
There's all kinds of things ruminating in my brain.
00:12:44.259 --> 00:12:57.059
Um, those we would like to call exogenous, so like you know, external inputs or you know, products that are um in our outside sources that to some degree we can't control entirely either.
00:12:57.299 --> 00:13:00.179
Um, and then there's of course your internal.
00:13:00.340 --> 00:13:07.460
So our body is creating, you know, um hormones and then breaking them down and then processing through those.
00:13:07.620 --> 00:13:09.460
And again, we have to eliminate those.
00:13:09.539 --> 00:13:16.659
And those are what I call endogenous, they're being made inside of your body, but ultimately they kind of fill up a bucket.
00:13:16.980 --> 00:13:45.379
So I would love for you to talk a little bit more about the golf course because I think there's a misconception out there that people who are financially struggling, who are, you know, under the poverty line or aren't living as cleanly as others, those are the ones that are going are at risk for environmental toxins.
00:13:45.539 --> 00:13:48.419
I thought it was really eye-opening when I interviewed Dr.
00:13:48.500 --> 00:14:12.659
Jill Carnahan for our virtual summit last year, the Midlife Reset, and she said the newest homes are the most at risk for growing mold and causing mold and mycotoxin illness because we build things so well now that we seal up all the nooks and crannies, and the air does not flow out of the home.
00:14:12.899 --> 00:14:18.500
And the drywall we use is like prime food for that mold to grow.
00:14:18.580 --> 00:14:32.980
So the tiniest little, you know, leak can really magnify a mycotoxin issue quickly when people assume you have to have a hundred-year-old house and you have to smell the mold and see the mold.
00:14:33.059 --> 00:14:45.460
And so I think there's just this misconception that, you know, I don't come from Flint, Michigan with toxic water on the news channel, you know, with lead poisoning, so I'm good.
00:14:45.779 --> 00:14:51.860
And when people are like, wait, golf courses, what are you what are you talking about?
00:14:52.019 --> 00:14:57.460
And sometimes that's the most affluent people who are the most well off.
00:14:57.620 --> 00:15:04.179
And they come to us the sickest because they don't see the environmental toxins.
00:15:04.259 --> 00:15:09.939
So I would love for you to just like kind of explain that little example so people can understand.
00:15:10.740 --> 00:15:19.779
Yeah, so I mean, my brain's always kind of like surveilling what could potentially be a risk.
00:15:20.019 --> 00:15:26.500
And again, this is a fine line because you you can't live in stress, you can't be fearful either.
00:15:26.819 --> 00:15:35.699
But the compounds that they use to, you know, keep the greens nice and pretty and the pesticides and all of those things.
00:15:35.860 --> 00:15:44.259
Um, you know, we like to pretend that they just, you know, go into the ground and there's no overall exposure, but we'd be lying to say that.
00:15:44.419 --> 00:15:55.620
Um, you know, in practice, we see we can do some toxin testing and we see um, you know, pesticides and organophosphates and all kinds of things that are showing up.
00:15:55.779 --> 00:15:57.779
The body's not clearing it out very well.
00:15:58.100 --> 00:16:09.299
When I was thinking while you were talking about the golf course and socioeconomic status and all of that, a lot of times, like nighttime routines and morning routines involve creams for women and all these things.
00:16:09.460 --> 00:16:13.460
And when you have access to that kind of stuff, you're just putting more toxins in your body.
00:16:13.620 --> 00:16:16.740
Not everyone is using toxic full of those things.
00:16:16.819 --> 00:16:29.220
So there are good products, but that's what I was thinking that a lot of times if you can't afford basic things, you're not adding extra things to your routine or extra things like fabric softener and all of that.
00:16:29.379 --> 00:16:32.580
So I think all of that's important to consider too in your everyday.
00:16:32.899 --> 00:16:35.299
Yeah, that's a big, big important point.
00:16:35.460 --> 00:16:49.139
And also farms, people who grow up on farms have a much higher risk of developing cancer and autoimmune disease and all kinds of disease processes.
00:16:49.460 --> 00:16:57.699
And we have this ideal image of growing up on a farm as it's like the healthiest way to grow up.
00:16:57.860 --> 00:17:02.340
And unfortunately, in this day and age, that's just not the case, right?
00:17:02.980 --> 00:17:06.420
Yeah, it depends on how they're farming, or even if you live beside them.
00:17:06.580 --> 00:17:11.380
So yeah, that's and that's a part of the golf course and the airport issue.
00:17:11.539 --> 00:17:30.100
There was a study done that says if you live within three miles of these areas, the water fall off from that, like you're going to be exposed to all those organophosphates and different things that are affecting you at your cellular level and increasing your risk.
00:17:30.259 --> 00:17:33.779
So flying, don't you just feel gross every time you fly?
00:17:33.940 --> 00:17:36.500
Like I love it, but I hate it at the same time.
00:17:36.819 --> 00:17:37.779
Between all the kills.
00:17:40.500 --> 00:17:41.140
Oh my gosh.
00:17:41.460 --> 00:17:42.980
Especially the little planes.
00:17:43.220 --> 00:17:47.299
Yeah, I have to detoxify pretty heavily every time I fly.
00:17:47.460 --> 00:17:52.980
Like by the time I got home from Nashville this last time, I just had a raging headache.
00:17:53.059 --> 00:17:55.059
I was exhausted, my back hurt.
00:17:55.220 --> 00:18:00.660
And it's from the radiation that the plane uses to hear all its signals.
00:18:00.819 --> 00:18:02.100
Thank goodness for that.
00:18:02.259 --> 00:18:05.059
But it's very toxic and hard on the body.
00:18:05.220 --> 00:18:11.220
The chemicals and the fuel and the gas, you know, that it releases, like all the things.
00:18:11.299 --> 00:18:16.819
And then you don't drink because you don't want to pee every five minutes, and then you're getting dehydrated.
00:18:16.900 --> 00:18:22.259
And then I don't eat the airplane food or the airport food because it that's all garbage.
00:18:22.420 --> 00:18:23.620
So yeah, it's a rough.
00:18:24.019 --> 00:18:24.980
And your routine is off.
00:18:25.059 --> 00:18:25.299
Yeah.
00:18:25.380 --> 00:18:27.380
You know, you're not doing all the same things you normally do.
00:18:27.539 --> 00:18:33.220
Maybe you're a little more liberal with your food because you're on vacation or you're you're doing something a little bit more fun.
00:18:33.300 --> 00:18:37.380
And again, I feel like it all kind of stacks up and fills the fills the bucket.
00:18:37.620 --> 00:18:38.340
Fills the bucket.
00:18:38.420 --> 00:18:39.220
You keep saying that.
00:18:39.300 --> 00:18:41.140
I think you should talk about your bucket filling.
00:18:41.700 --> 00:18:45.780
But I also I kind of want you to just tell a little bit about who you are too.
00:18:45.940 --> 00:18:50.180
Um, I know you we talked about how you got into functional medicine, but you're also a busy mom.
00:18:50.340 --> 00:18:52.020
Tabitha talked about moms in the beginning.
00:18:52.100 --> 00:18:53.060
You're a busy wife.
00:18:53.140 --> 00:18:58.900
So why don't you tell a little bit about yourself and then talk about how your bucket fills up and explain that to us.
00:18:59.220 --> 00:19:00.020
Yes, yeah.
00:19:00.259 --> 00:19:02.500
Um, okay, so I have four kiddos.
00:19:02.820 --> 00:19:05.380
I um they're amazing and wonderful.
00:19:05.540 --> 00:19:08.980
We're finally out of the butt wiping phase, praise Jesus.
00:19:09.220 --> 00:19:12.900
And so I have a seven to fourteen year olds.
00:19:13.140 --> 00:19:15.460
So now we're like getting into the teenagery things.
00:19:15.540 --> 00:19:17.780
It's like a whole nother level of stress.
00:19:17.940 --> 00:19:23.460
Um, I married my high school sweetheart, he's a fireman, so he's gone every third day.
00:19:23.780 --> 00:19:30.900
He coaches, I coach, and then um, yeah, life is just super busy, it's wonderful, it's a blessing.
00:19:31.140 --> 00:19:33.540
Um, sometimes the chaos is laughable.
00:19:35.140 --> 00:19:40.259
Yeah, so tell us a little bit about how your bucket gets filled and what happens when your bucket gets filled.
00:19:41.220 --> 00:19:50.100
Yeah, so as far as your bucket filling mechanism, I like to think that you don't really get to decide how wide or how tall your bucket is.
00:19:50.259 --> 00:19:52.980
That in part is some genetics, right?
00:19:53.300 --> 00:20:08.259
Also frustrating because you can have somebody who has a really wide, tall bucket that can kind of abuse their body and seemingly have no symptoms, where some of us that are thinking about toxic burden probably have a smaller, you know, shorter bucket.
00:20:08.580 --> 00:20:11.860
But ultimately those things can kind of pile on top of each other.
00:20:12.020 --> 00:20:17.300
So we were just talking about mold or um, you know, living on a golf course.
00:20:17.460 --> 00:20:27.860
I mean, um, if we have extra stress, if our nutrition is poor, if we have more ongoing inflammation or internal inflammation, all of those things can ultimately fill your bucket.
00:20:28.020 --> 00:20:32.100
And when your bucket's really full, you're gonna get this outpouring of symptoms.
00:20:32.420 --> 00:20:36.740
Um, and that can manifest itself a lot of different ways.
00:20:36.980 --> 00:20:44.020
So that's also a little frustrating because those symptoms can be very um what's the word I'm looking for?
00:20:44.180 --> 00:20:45.220
Just elusive.
00:20:45.940 --> 00:20:47.940
Elusive, yeah, unspecific.
00:20:48.100 --> 00:20:56.020
Like not one uh symptom is going to present exactly the same way for this for for someone else, even though this the problem could be similar.
00:20:56.340 --> 00:21:07.220
Yeah, and I like to tell patients if you have symptoms from multiple systems, it's probably toxic burden because it's affecting all of your systems.
00:21:07.380 --> 00:21:16.420
So if you have hormone and gut issues and skin issues and brain issues, to me, that's toxic burden all day long.
00:21:16.900 --> 00:21:18.020
Wouldn't you agree?
00:21:18.660 --> 00:21:19.380
I would agree.
00:21:19.540 --> 00:21:20.500
Yeah, absolutely.
00:21:20.660 --> 00:21:28.580
And I think ultimately the goal is to poke holes in that metaphorical bucket so you can lower that threshold, you'll start to see symptoms reduce.
00:21:28.740 --> 00:21:31.460
And that the the poking holes in the bucket, right?
00:21:31.620 --> 00:21:50.100
That's you know, we're we have good sleep regimen, we have cleaned up our nutrition, um, we're sweating, we're moving, um, we're hydrating, we have plenty of minerable minerals on board, you know, we're we don't have any nutrient deficiencies, those ultimately are kind of poking the holes in the bucket to lower the threshold.
00:21:50.500 --> 00:21:55.380
Um, I have found that some of our patients need more than the foundation.
00:21:55.540 --> 00:22:08.740
You know, we have to start with a solid foundation, but oftentimes when we feel a little stuck or plateaued, that toxic burden is um more um maybe deeper, like not quite what we thought it would be.
00:22:09.140 --> 00:22:14.740
But you mentioned the mold piece, a hundred-year-old home, and you know, a two-year-old home.
00:22:14.900 --> 00:22:23.380
Um, I can think of a client of ours who we actually tested both of the homes that they had.
00:22:24.259 --> 00:22:29.060
Literally the same description you described a hundred-year-old home, a two-year-old home.
00:22:29.380 --> 00:22:32.259
Um they actually were renovating the hundred-year-old home.
00:22:32.340 --> 00:22:37.540
So while it probably did have, you know, some toxins, it was being remediated already.
00:22:37.700 --> 00:22:40.259
They were breaking down walls and getting things out.
00:22:40.580 --> 00:22:45.860
That house actually came back cleaner and clearer than the two-year-old home.
00:22:46.020 --> 00:22:55.380
And the two-year-old home was off the charts on mold toxicity, and they can't see it, smell it, don't visualize it at all.
00:22:55.860 --> 00:23:13.060
Yeah, when I built my home with my ex-husband 10 years ago, um, I remember moving in and just so much off-gassing was happening from all the flooring, from all of the paint and the carpeting and the appliances and all of these things.
00:23:13.220 --> 00:23:18.900
And so people are like, oh, it smells so new and amazing and clean in here.
00:23:19.140 --> 00:23:21.300
Nope, that's all toxins.
00:23:21.780 --> 00:23:26.740
And within the month, I was having night sweats so bad that.
00:23:27.380 --> 00:23:34.340
I was having to change my clothes two to three times a night, just soaking like mattress wet night sweats.
00:23:34.660 --> 00:23:37.860
And that went on for a while.
00:23:38.259 --> 00:23:48.180
And I truly believe that the high toxic burden in that gorgeous new home we built was a huge contributing factor.
00:23:48.420 --> 00:23:54.820
And so, like, you gotta open your windows, you gotta let those gases get out of there.
00:23:54.980 --> 00:23:56.580
It's hugely important.
00:23:56.660 --> 00:24:01.060
Like, I can't emphasize that enough because people are building more and more.
00:24:01.380 --> 00:24:04.020
Well, and you probably didn't know at that time.
00:24:04.340 --> 00:24:14.020
No, I didn't because I was still in OBGYN and I hadn't like gone the functional route, and that was before the back surgery and all of the things.
00:24:14.100 --> 00:24:20.820
So it was just another nail in the coffin, so to speak, another like dump into my bucket.
00:24:21.140 --> 00:24:28.340
Yeah, I'm just thinking about how when we have a new patient, they have to fill out this lovely intake form that takes like 45 minutes to an hour.
00:24:28.500 --> 00:24:34.820
But the reason that we do it is because we want to try to figure out in their history what where something went wrong.
00:24:35.060 --> 00:24:45.700
And so if you're listening to this episode and you're struggling with some weird and random things and you're starting to think you're crazy or you're frustrated, maybe you're just really grouchy all the time and want to yell at your husband.
00:24:46.020 --> 00:24:47.940
Sit down and make a timeline.
00:24:48.020 --> 00:24:50.500
Like what change, look at in your environment.
00:24:50.580 --> 00:24:53.140
Like Amy's saying, like it could be literally anything.
00:24:53.300 --> 00:24:56.980
Maybe your neighbor, new neighbor, moved in and they spray their yard all the time.
00:24:57.140 --> 00:25:01.620
It's like there's a lot of places that spray for mosquitoes every spring and different things like that.
00:25:01.780 --> 00:25:05.460
So look at all that and figure out what's impacting you.
00:25:05.860 --> 00:25:07.220
Yeah, absolutely.
00:25:07.540 --> 00:25:10.900
Okay, so questionable items, right?
00:25:11.060 --> 00:25:17.700
So I think, like I said, when I think about toxic burden, I also think about it being like a rabbit hole.
00:25:18.020 --> 00:25:22.580
Like you can go deep and dark if you're not careful.
00:25:22.820 --> 00:25:27.300
And so, you know, like at the end of the day, again, we talked about that.
00:25:27.380 --> 00:25:28.420
It's like a fine line.
00:25:28.660 --> 00:25:44.820
We have we want awareness and we want to understand what's going on around us, and then we want to make choices that are gonna impact how we're living so that we are poking holes in that metaphorical bucket, but we also can't be fearful and stressed because we know stress fills the bucket too.
00:25:45.060 --> 00:25:46.660
So, um exactly.
00:25:46.900 --> 00:25:48.420
I think we oh, sorry.
00:25:48.580 --> 00:25:48.980
No, go ahead.
00:25:49.220 --> 00:25:58.740
I was just gonna say, I think we have to control what we can to a degree, but also just know like our teenagers are gonna have cologne in our home.
00:25:59.060 --> 00:26:04.660
But I'm not going to tell my son he can't have cologne because I'm afraid of toxins.
00:26:04.820 --> 00:26:14.180
And so I do what I can and I just allow that cologne to take over the car in the morning on the way to school, you know, but then I like roll the windows up.
00:26:14.340 --> 00:26:15.780
Like they're just little things that we can do.
00:26:15.860 --> 00:26:17.220
But I Amy, you're so right.
00:26:17.300 --> 00:26:18.259
We cannot live in fear.
00:26:18.340 --> 00:26:24.180
We can't not fly, we can't not vacation, we can't not enjoy, you know, a treat here and there.
00:26:24.259 --> 00:26:27.300
Like we have to live our life, but we just have to find a good balance.
00:26:27.540 --> 00:26:27.780
Yes.
00:26:27.940 --> 00:26:30.420
And when your son says, Why do I have a headache?
00:26:30.500 --> 00:26:33.140
you say, Well, it's probably all that cologne you're wearing.
00:26:33.300 --> 00:26:34.340
Yeah, exactly.
00:26:34.500 --> 00:26:38.660
Or that hair gel that you're using, or that face mask you had to have, all the random crap.
00:26:39.620 --> 00:26:41.140
Disrupting your hormones.
00:26:41.300 --> 00:26:45.780
I do tell my kids that I'm like, I wouldn't, this isn't my favorite choice, and here's why.
00:26:46.020 --> 00:26:48.420
You know, you do know that it won't impact your hormones.
00:26:48.580 --> 00:26:50.340
Um, they at this point don't care.
00:26:50.420 --> 00:26:53.700
So yeah, I just always use the little Debbie analogy.
00:26:53.780 --> 00:26:56.100
Like when we were young, we could eat little Debbie's.
00:26:56.180 --> 00:27:00.500
There was probably like six things in them, and now there's like 60 things in a little Debbie.
00:27:00.580 --> 00:27:02.740
And so it's just, it's so hard for our kids.
00:27:02.820 --> 00:27:04.100
I mean, imagine if that was us.
00:27:04.180 --> 00:27:06.180
I mean, I literally grew up on Little Debbie's.
00:27:06.259 --> 00:27:10.820
And so if we had to have all those toxins as teenagers, that would have been terrible.
00:27:11.060 --> 00:27:11.940
Oh, absolutely.
00:27:12.100 --> 00:27:17.860
Like McDonald's French fries were potatoes, salt, and you know, halfway decent oil.
00:27:18.020 --> 00:27:23.220
Now they're filled with preservatives and toxins and like they're not even food anymore.
00:27:23.460 --> 00:27:25.780
So I feel bad for our kids 100%.
00:27:26.340 --> 00:27:40.180
So you kind of glazed over the foundational things, but I want you to explain why that is absolutely essential to keep that bucket from filling up.
00:27:40.340 --> 00:27:54.420
These are detoxification pathways that God created our bodies to be doing at all times, and we are not supporting those systems, and that's why that toxic bucket is filling up, right?
00:27:54.660 --> 00:28:07.780
So get into a little more detail about the skin and the liver and the lymphatic system and all these detox pathways that we can support, because then you might not need like all this advanced testing.
00:28:07.940 --> 00:28:15.380
But if you do these foundational things, you're like, I've tried all that and I'm struggling, okay, then come see us in the practice.
00:28:15.540 --> 00:28:17.060
We will help you through this.
00:28:17.140 --> 00:28:18.180
I promise you.
00:28:18.980 --> 00:28:22.980
Yeah, I would say the foundation is a great place to start.
00:28:23.140 --> 00:28:28.420
Um, shifting nutrition, just a lot of the stuff that we talk about in the 40-day program.
00:28:28.980 --> 00:28:34.740
But when it's not moving, that's a good indication that there's something a little bit deeper.
00:28:35.300 --> 00:28:42.100
Ultimately, all of that in our bucket is being impacted by our liver, right?
00:28:42.259 --> 00:28:45.940
Our liver is working, our kidneys are filtering.
00:28:46.180 --> 00:28:49.860
Um, you're right, our skin is also a detoxification organ.
00:28:50.180 --> 00:28:56.180
So if our liver is struggling a little bit, oftentimes we'll see skin impact too as well.
00:28:56.500 --> 00:29:04.900
Um, we'll see it with um not just like you know, allergy type symptoms, but also psoriasis, eczema, acne.
00:29:04.980 --> 00:29:09.140
I mean, those are all conditions of the liver and a gut that aren't functioning properly.
00:29:09.380 --> 00:29:12.740
Um, we also know our lungs help expel, right?
00:29:12.900 --> 00:29:18.900
So at the end of the day, too, we have to be sure that we're pooping, right?
00:29:19.060 --> 00:29:25.860
Um elimination is an incredible, uh incredibly important part of our detox pathways.
00:29:26.180 --> 00:29:31.220
And um ultimately you have to be taking the trash out every single day.
00:29:31.540 --> 00:29:50.100
So um if the if any of those little systems aren't working super well, and again, sometimes it's that we don't have adequate nutrients, sometimes it's that you know our nutrition is not quite where it needs to be, sometimes it's genetics, unfortunately, that are influencing how we're processing hormones or methylation.
00:29:50.420 --> 00:29:55.460
Um, and so all of those systems work together to help keep us in a good spot.
00:29:55.620 --> 00:29:59.700
Um, and really our goal is just to continue to support those systems.
00:29:59.860 --> 00:30:25.700
So let me interject with a frustration that I've had of the conventional medical uh system, is uh because I came from that and I've seen um posts from you know like prior colleagues that um you don't need a detox, and detox is kind of a you know fatty sense of the word, but you don't need a detox because you have a liver and you have kidneys and you have organs that should be doing all of that for you.
00:30:25.940 --> 00:30:39.300
And yes, you're right, but also we live in a toxic, uh stressful burden in a state of chronic stress that we've probably never really endured to this degree.
00:30:39.460 --> 00:30:53.780
And our bodies and we eat a standard American diet, most of us, and there's so many pieces that are making it so that our little detox organs that God gave us that should be working properly that aren't, or we wouldn't have all these cases of fatty liver.
00:30:53.940 --> 00:30:55.860
Fatty liver in children, mind you.
00:30:56.420 --> 00:31:05.540
So, you know, like yes, we have all these organs, but we also have to optimize them and support them, and I don't feel like that's talked about enough.
00:31:05.860 --> 00:31:11.620
Ooh, okay, so this is gonna lead us right into the liver detox kit that we have at the supplement store.
00:31:11.700 --> 00:31:14.900
But I want to share something because we actually got this yesterday.
00:31:15.060 --> 00:31:15.780
It was an email.
00:31:15.940 --> 00:31:20.020
So um, when you purchase the liver detox kit, we like to check in, make sure you're doing okay.
00:31:20.100 --> 00:31:26.740
And we got this email yesterday from someone who is currently doing it, and she said, I'm doing great with the detox.
00:31:26.980 --> 00:31:32.740
I have found that there are days when I feel very low energy, but then I seem to bounce back with an abundance of energy.
00:31:33.060 --> 00:31:39.700
The most significant change I noticed is that my psoriasis is clearing and the itching is almost non-existent.
00:31:39.860 --> 00:31:42.740
I'm only halfway through the protocol.
00:31:42.980 --> 00:31:45.140
So that's two weeks, ladies.
00:31:45.380 --> 00:31:47.780
All of that is already changing for this woman.
00:31:47.940 --> 00:31:48.980
I just thought that was so amazing.
00:31:49.060 --> 00:31:55.460
When I read that yesterday, I was like, I'm gonna totally read this tomorrow when we meet with Amy, but I'm like, wow, the liver is huge.
00:31:55.620 --> 00:31:57.300
We have to detox it.
00:31:58.020 --> 00:32:03.140
Real quick, I just want to interrupt this conversation for something super important.
00:32:04.100 --> 00:32:14.340
Even though we need to take care of ourselves spiritually, emotionally, and physically, we do have to take care of ourselves at a cellular level.
00:32:14.500 --> 00:32:17.860
And that is why I have my fast to face supplement line.
00:32:17.940 --> 00:32:25.860
So let's just take a minute to hear about something that might be the game changer that you need in this season.
00:32:26.180 --> 00:32:33.380
I love to recommend our 321 liver detox quarterly or every season if you live where there's seasons.
00:32:33.460 --> 00:32:43.860
Like you should be doing this two to four times a year just to support those liver detox pathways so that your body can get rid of the ongoing toxic burden.
00:32:43.940 --> 00:32:52.980
It's like a bucket that continues to fill up, and you gotta pour it out and clean it out so that it can fill up again, because that's just the world we live in.
00:32:53.220 --> 00:32:54.900
Yeah, we have a really great guide.
00:32:55.060 --> 00:33:02.259
So when you purchase the kit, you also get an email with a really great guide because we talk a little bit about like food and some lifestyle changes that we recommend.
00:33:02.500 --> 00:33:07.620
And I love how orthomolecular has structured the way that you're supposed to take it.
00:33:07.860 --> 00:33:23.060
Because say your phase two liver pathway is really congested, if you start opening phase one, you're just gonna get a backup of more toxins because like you have to open the other pathway first.
00:33:23.220 --> 00:33:30.100
So it's really important that you're pooping first, and then you have your second phase working, and then your first phase.
00:33:30.180 --> 00:33:31.940
That's why we call it 3, 2, 1.
00:33:32.020 --> 00:33:43.060
You need to work backwards on opening these pathways, and that's why some women feel like garbage when they take liver cleanses or liver detoxes, because it's only working on phase one.
00:33:43.140 --> 00:33:44.660
Can you speak to that a little bit?
00:33:44.900 --> 00:33:52.500
There's a specific way and process in which your liver will, in a healthy manner, take toxins and immobilize them out of the body.
00:33:52.660 --> 00:34:00.820
And our science team put the 3, 2, 1 detox together in a manner where we want to mobilize and in well, so there are three phases.
00:34:00.900 --> 00:34:02.020
One, two, three.
00:34:02.259 --> 00:34:05.860
The second and third phases, you want to get those rolling first.
00:34:06.180 --> 00:34:11.860
Because once you get those rolling, then the toxins will be able to more concretely kind of move through it.
00:34:11.940 --> 00:34:18.259
So the science behind it is we give the specific raw materials that will upregulate phase two and three first.
00:34:18.500 --> 00:34:20.019
So now we're rocking and rolling.
00:34:20.099 --> 00:34:25.539
Now, some folks they just may need to do two and three a little bit longer before they start the phase one product.
00:34:25.699 --> 00:34:26.739
That's okay, that's fine.
00:34:26.820 --> 00:34:29.460
I mean, your body is gonna be different, unique to you.
00:34:29.699 --> 00:34:37.699
Um, so it's not easy to do, but that's what when you come on out on the other side of a challenge, it's like you're a different person.
00:34:37.860 --> 00:34:41.139
And so it's so much more than really just an actual detox.
00:34:41.380 --> 00:34:43.940
It is that, but you will be a different person at the end of it.
00:34:44.019 --> 00:34:49.619
You should feel better, you should feel lighter, your skin likely is brighter, puffiness.
00:34:49.699 --> 00:34:54.659
Like take the fore and after pictures because you're gonna be mind-blown about the poofiness like in your face.
00:34:54.820 --> 00:34:55.059
Yeah.
00:34:55.219 --> 00:35:00.900
Um, that's when usually I can tell that I need to do one when I start to feel that kind of poofy type skin.
00:35:02.179 --> 00:35:02.980
Absolutely.
00:35:03.059 --> 00:35:07.539
And we're living in the most toxic time ever in history.
00:35:07.780 --> 00:35:13.940
Thousands, 10, over 10,000 chemicals that did not exist 70 years ago.
00:35:14.179 --> 00:35:17.059
We are now combating all day, every day.
00:35:17.219 --> 00:35:23.139
So if you don't think your detox pathways need support, you are just believing a lie.
00:35:23.300 --> 00:35:25.300
That is the truth of it right there.
00:35:25.780 --> 00:35:33.059
And that was such a huge part of my healing and realizing that I had some genetic issues.
00:35:33.219 --> 00:35:40.339
I had some SNPs, some mutations that were preventing my liver from easily detoxifying.
00:35:40.420 --> 00:35:43.059
And so things were building up quickly.
00:35:43.379 --> 00:35:53.139
And here's like a common example of a woman that we see that she just feels amazing after a liver cleanse.
00:35:53.539 --> 00:35:57.940
She's only pooping every few days, sometimes some women once a week.
00:35:58.259 --> 00:36:03.139
She is at a desk most of the day or doing a sedentary job.
00:36:03.460 --> 00:36:07.699
She is not working out because she's tired, so she's not sweating.
00:36:07.859 --> 00:36:12.739
And when you're not moving your body, you're not emptying your lymphatic system.
00:36:12.900 --> 00:36:14.420
So that's building up.
00:36:14.579 --> 00:36:18.099
That can often increase your risk of developing breast cancer.
00:36:18.259 --> 00:36:24.500
Imagine your breasts, they can't empty their trash cans actively.
00:36:24.659 --> 00:36:26.900
The lymphatic system does not have pumps.
00:36:27.059 --> 00:36:30.900
Your muscles are the pumps, and there's no muscles in breast tissue.
00:36:31.139 --> 00:36:40.659
So that lymphatic drainage only happens when you move your arms, when you move your torso, when you jump up and down, when you do these things.
00:36:40.900 --> 00:36:50.739
So if you are not sweating regularly, you're not pooping regularly, you're not moving, your food is a standard American diet.
00:36:50.900 --> 00:36:56.819
You are a setup for high toxic burden and development of disease.
00:36:57.059 --> 00:37:14.819
So I just anybody listening to this, I know everybody's gonna get something out of it, but some women they need a major wake-up call because you know, your genes are part of the picture, but they're they're just the gun.
00:37:15.460 --> 00:37:18.659
This environmental stuff that is pulling the trigger.
00:37:18.739 --> 00:37:26.900
That is what's gonna tip you over the edge, and it's you know, so much easier to prevent than to treat.
00:37:27.299 --> 00:37:27.859
Yeah.
00:37:28.179 --> 00:37:30.019
Right, yeah, right, Amy?
00:37:30.579 --> 00:37:31.299
Yes, yeah.
00:37:31.379 --> 00:37:33.299
Uh, so it is a morbid analogy.
00:37:33.460 --> 00:37:42.259
Uh, your genetics load the gun, but they don't pull the trigger, your environment, you know, the things around you, the choices that you're making.
00:37:42.420 --> 00:37:45.859
Um, and actually, I I find that kind of validating.
00:37:45.940 --> 00:37:48.980
Like I don't have to be held hostage by my genetics.
00:37:49.299 --> 00:37:56.259
I can make changes, you know, in my life every single day, make choices to put myself in a better spot.
00:37:56.420 --> 00:37:59.059
So that really feels validating, honestly.
00:37:59.299 --> 00:37:59.859
Exactly.
00:38:00.019 --> 00:38:06.739
And when I first started studying this, you know, I was trained through the Cleveland Clinic Institute for Functional Medicine.
00:38:06.980 --> 00:38:18.019
And when I did the detox course, I was like overwhelmed, angry, uh at all the feelings.
00:38:18.099 --> 00:38:21.379
And I was like, how can I even survive in this world?
00:38:21.460 --> 00:38:22.900
How can I even tackle this?
00:38:23.219 --> 00:38:27.299
So I recommend just do one thing at a time.
00:38:27.460 --> 00:38:38.420
Get rid of the glade plug-ins, get rid of the scented candles, get rid of the cheap perfumes that are just like toxic chemicals that you're breathing in all day.
00:38:38.659 --> 00:38:39.779
Just start basic.
00:38:39.940 --> 00:38:43.779
We have a guide actually, how to decrease your toxic burden.
00:38:43.859 --> 00:38:49.859
And it walks you through week by week, month by month, so that it doesn't feel overwhelming.
00:38:50.099 --> 00:38:52.819
So please grab that out of the show notes.
00:38:53.059 --> 00:39:02.339
But, Amy, let's talk about the standard American diet because I don't think people realize how toxic food really is in this day and age.
00:39:02.500 --> 00:39:05.219
They we kind of gloss over it.
00:39:05.460 --> 00:39:08.500
And part of it is because doctors don't know.
00:39:08.579 --> 00:39:11.619
And so doctors are like, it's fine, it's not a big deal.
00:39:11.859 --> 00:39:15.379
Just eat more vegetables and get more protein.
00:39:15.460 --> 00:39:30.500
Like this more protein kick is driving me crazy because people are eating the cheapest, crappiest protein to get 100 grams in, and they're making their body worse, right?
00:39:31.059 --> 00:39:36.019
Yeah, quality is is as important as you know getting more protein in.
00:39:36.179 --> 00:39:37.940
So going even upstream.
00:39:38.019 --> 00:39:41.539
And and budget sometimes has to take a step in this.
00:39:41.619 --> 00:39:50.179
Like we're with four kids and a fireman is a husband, like we sometimes they're I'm not doing everything exactly the way that I want.
00:39:50.339 --> 00:39:53.859
Um, I like to live under that philosophy of good, better, best.
00:39:54.099 --> 00:39:56.819
Like, here's the best and here's the framework for the best.
00:39:56.980 --> 00:40:01.699
And you know, today I'm gonna make a better choice or a good choice better than I had before.
00:40:01.859 --> 00:40:08.659
Um, but really thinking about like what were the what were what were the animals that were eating, what were they fed?
00:40:08.819 --> 00:40:13.859
Were they fed corn and grain and crab, or were they eating grass?
00:40:14.099 --> 00:40:27.219
Because there is scientific difference between the compounds um in grass-fed versus grain-fed, and there's a higher omega-3 content in our grass-fed um meat.
00:40:27.379 --> 00:40:31.460
And so absolutely like protein isn't a protein necessarily.
00:40:31.539 --> 00:40:38.420
You have to start asking those questions of, you know, what was it fed, how was it raised, all of those things will actually play a role as well.
00:40:38.500 --> 00:40:41.859
And then you just do the best you can ultimately too.
00:40:42.179 --> 00:40:46.579
Yeah, I really try and look for things that don't have antibiotics.
00:40:46.819 --> 00:40:58.099
Um, because when you are raising commercial grade meat, like cows and things like that, you're trying to get the most meat production off of this farm, right?
00:40:58.259 --> 00:41:04.739
And so you're pumping them with growth hormones so that you have bigger cows, so that you have more meat.
00:41:04.900 --> 00:41:10.259
You're feeding them genetically modified cornmeal to make them fatter.
00:41:10.739 --> 00:41:25.619
So fat actually stores toxins, and that's sometimes one of you ladies listening right now, the reason you can't get rid of the weight is because you're full of toxins, and that weight is actually protecting you.
00:41:25.699 --> 00:41:39.779
It's protecting your liver, your brain, your kidneys, because those toxins are toxic, and so they get sequestered in the fat cells, and every time you try to lose weight, your body says, wait, we don't want these toxins in the bloodstream.
00:41:40.019 --> 00:41:43.059
We're gonna keep these, preserve these fat cells.
00:41:43.219 --> 00:41:47.139
The same thing is happening in the cows, in the other animals.
00:41:47.539 --> 00:41:51.859
Those they're just so full of toxins, and then we go and we eat them.
00:41:52.019 --> 00:41:58.900
So it's really important that I would rather you eat less protein and higher quality protein.
00:41:59.219 --> 00:42:01.539
Same with vegetables and fruits.
00:42:01.699 --> 00:42:30.659
Like you have to check out the EWG dirty dozen, clean 15 because the fruits and vegetables that are the most porous, like strawberries, raspberries, things that will soak in from the outside, they will soak in those pesticides that are sprayed on them a lot easier than a cantaloupe because a cantaloupe has a thick skin and it doesn't get to the meat of the cantaloupe as easy.
00:42:30.739 --> 00:42:34.980
So it's really important to think about these things when you're purchasing.
00:42:35.219 --> 00:42:36.659
Wouldn't you say, Amy?
00:42:37.299 --> 00:42:38.339
Yeah, absolutely.
00:42:38.500 --> 00:42:42.900
So I love the EWG.org list, the dirty dozen, the clean 15.
00:42:42.980 --> 00:42:44.420
They update that every year.
00:42:44.500 --> 00:42:54.179
So sometimes I feel like there's not a bunch of changes just because of the you know philosophy you described of like the thinner skin is gonna be more porous.
00:42:54.339 --> 00:42:57.940
Um, but they do update it based on data, which is pretty neat.
00:42:58.099 --> 00:43:06.900
Um, and ultimately, like just be thinking about how you're increasing that, you know, bucket or decreasing it by making better choices.
00:43:07.219 --> 00:43:10.099
And I love how you mentioned too about the fat cells.
00:43:10.179 --> 00:43:16.019
I feel like we don't talk about that enough either because you know, move, move more, eat less.
00:43:16.099 --> 00:43:22.980
Uh, if that actually worked, we wouldn't be, you know, so overweight and obese as a society.
00:43:23.219 --> 00:43:27.779
Um, but because we are so toxic, our our body is protecting us.
00:43:27.859 --> 00:43:30.819
It is truly a protective mechanism, as you mentioned.
00:43:30.980 --> 00:43:36.099
Um, I like the analogy, dilution is the solution to pollution.
00:43:36.179 --> 00:43:36.259
Yeah.
00:43:38.659 --> 00:43:46.980
Um uh the solution is to dilute it, and that is to store it in the fat cell and to gain some extra weight so that it's not so toxic.
00:43:47.219 --> 00:44:03.219
Um, and just trying to lose weight without getting some of those other pieces in place um sets your body kind of up for failure because it doesn't want to mobilize toxins unless you have all the right nutrients to go through phase one and phase two of your detox pathways.
00:44:03.379 --> 00:44:16.579
Um, glutathione is super important, vitamin E, selenium, like there's so many compounds that if we aren't eating a super nutrient-rich diet, um, and maybe also needing a little bit of supplement, because let's be honest, right?
00:44:16.739 --> 00:44:34.420
The the amount of of nutrients in our foods is less that we might need a little extra support, which you know is the plug for the liver lift because it's so great, it layers in phase one and phase two detoxification support um very strategically.
00:44:34.659 --> 00:44:39.539
And sometimes people will go, Oh, I'm gonna do a juice fast, like I'm gonna really support my liver.
00:44:39.699 --> 00:44:43.299
Um, and right, you can't do that, you have to have adequate protein.
00:44:43.379 --> 00:44:51.219
Like, protein is a piece of the puzzle as well for us to make sure that those little detox pathways are working correctly.
00:44:51.379 --> 00:44:56.500
And then remember too, phase three detoxification, of course, is uh excreting it as waste.
00:44:56.579 --> 00:44:58.900
So, again, taking the trash out every single day.
00:44:59.059 --> 00:45:09.539
And what's wild and crazy enough about that um is that our gut bacteria can also influence um our phase three um detoxification too.
00:45:09.779 --> 00:45:16.420
So there's so many different pieces that um, you know, m one may be impacting somebody more than the other.
00:45:16.579 --> 00:45:28.339
Um, and that's sometimes where I think if we're not if if we've implemented foundations and we're still struggling, we probably do need a little extra help to kind of figure out those little pieces that That might be missing.
00:45:28.659 --> 00:45:37.619
I want to mention too that sometimes when you do detox and you do start to lower this, just like the woman who emailed, you will you might feel lower energy.
00:45:37.699 --> 00:45:40.019
Like you might feel worse before you feel better.
00:45:40.179 --> 00:45:40.980
So keep going.
00:45:41.059 --> 00:45:44.259
Don't let it go forever and feel like crap because you should bounce back.
00:45:44.339 --> 00:45:48.420
Like she feels bad in the morning and has lower or higher energy in the end of the day.
00:45:48.500 --> 00:45:54.259
But I do think that's important to mention that you may feel worse before you feel better in any sort of detox.
00:45:55.059 --> 00:46:00.259
I always think manageable, not miserable, is like my mantra for detox.
00:46:00.739 --> 00:46:03.539
Um, you should be able to get through the day.
00:46:03.699 --> 00:46:15.219
Maybe you are some people will get a little more detox these symptoms you call those Herxheimer reactions where they're having like headaches, they're joint pain, an increase in fatigue or a shift in digestive symptoms.
00:46:15.379 --> 00:46:18.659
Um, your body's trying to mobilize the toxins and get them out.
00:46:18.819 --> 00:46:26.579
If you feel miserable, then that's your cue that you're mobilizing toxins too quickly and that you need to slow your role.
00:46:26.739 --> 00:46:36.819
Your body is communicating a message and we're gonna listen, not just push through like most of us women do, because that's what we were taught, I guess.
00:46:36.980 --> 00:46:41.059
Um, but that manageable, not miserable is a great mantra for that.
00:46:41.219 --> 00:46:43.139
If you're miserable, scale back.
00:46:43.299 --> 00:46:48.819
If you're manageable, keep going, hydrate, sweat, keep your nutrition in point.
00:46:49.059 --> 00:46:49.379
Absolutely.
00:46:50.900 --> 00:47:06.739
Yeah, that's I think that's why our 321 liver detox, I'm not trying to promote it, but it is amazing because it really does focus on giving your cells what it needs before you start trying to pull those toxins out.
00:47:06.900 --> 00:47:10.099
It's really important to set your body up for success.
00:47:10.179 --> 00:47:19.460
And that's why so many women struggle with other detox protocols because they're not supporting before they're asking their cells to do that work.
00:47:19.699 --> 00:47:22.739
So it it really matters.
00:47:23.859 --> 00:47:31.539
And the process in which you operate supporting your liver detox pathways matters too.
00:47:31.779 --> 00:47:50.259
So I love um our product again, not trying to plug, but I love our product because you are pulling in phase two support first, so that's your liver lift too, but really it's supporting your phase two liver detox pathway where we're breaking those compounds down.
00:47:50.500 --> 00:48:03.699
If you go upstream and support phase one without phase two, and also you're not pooping, what you've just done is turn the faucet on your bathtub with a clogged bathtub, and eventually, again, you're gonna overfill.
00:48:03.859 --> 00:48:11.059
So if you don't do it in the right order, you very well could be, you know, kind of junking the system up thinking that you're gonna help.
00:48:11.379 --> 00:48:11.779
Yeah.
00:48:12.019 --> 00:48:12.739
Oh my gosh.
00:48:12.980 --> 00:48:13.379
Oh good.
00:48:13.619 --> 00:48:15.859
I know some women were blessed today.
00:48:16.019 --> 00:48:18.819
They got exactly what they needed to hear.
00:48:19.059 --> 00:48:25.059
This is such an important conversation, and like I said, don't feel overwhelmed.
00:48:25.219 --> 00:48:41.619
Once you start digging into this, you really can go down the rabbit hole and it can feel scary, but I promise you that God always gives you a solution and wisdom and knowledge around this situation will come.
00:48:42.179 --> 00:48:45.059
Ask God to help you understand your body better.
00:48:45.219 --> 00:48:52.179
Ask Him to help you interpret the symptoms you're having because your body literally is trying to communicate with you.
00:48:52.339 --> 00:48:53.859
You just don't know what it's saying.
00:48:54.019 --> 00:49:01.139
So start paying attention, write things down, ask Holy Spirit to tell you what they mean.
00:49:01.460 --> 00:49:03.699
Don't hesitate to reach out to us.
00:49:03.859 --> 00:49:07.940
We would be honored to walk you through and help you support this.
00:49:08.420 --> 00:49:12.980
The reviews we get when women see Amy just fills my heart.
00:49:13.139 --> 00:49:16.980
Like you have helped so many women, Amy.
00:49:17.059 --> 00:49:20.019
You're such a blessing in our practice.
00:49:20.339 --> 00:49:25.219
And I am just honored to have you in our in our group.
00:49:25.699 --> 00:49:26.739
Yeah, I love it.
00:49:26.819 --> 00:49:31.539
And I'm gonna tag back to Ashley mentioning how long I've been around.
00:49:31.779 --> 00:49:38.019
Um, I uh uh it's a God story, but I'm gonna for the sake of time, not not go there.
00:49:38.179 --> 00:49:43.940
But uh I started in um I think it was January, so we'll hit three years.
00:49:44.179 --> 00:49:44.500
Wow.
00:49:44.579 --> 00:49:46.900
Um which is crazy to think, yeah.
00:49:47.139 --> 00:49:49.539
Yeah, and I feel like I've known you forever.
00:49:49.859 --> 00:49:54.819
And uh I think we should mention that Amy does not live with like in Michigan, not with us.
00:49:54.900 --> 00:49:57.059
Uh she doesn't live with us, but she doesn't live in Michigan.
00:49:57.139 --> 00:49:58.900
She's our one provider who doesn't.
00:49:59.059 --> 00:50:01.219
Um, but I also feel like we get to see you.
00:50:01.299 --> 00:50:02.339
We have certain times.
00:50:02.500 --> 00:50:07.219
Um when this episode airs, Amy and I will have already seen each other again in person.
00:50:07.379 --> 00:50:09.460
And so I think it's so important.
00:50:09.619 --> 00:50:17.379
You mentioned, Amy, about coming because we we're gonna see each other at Tabitha's show, and you talked about the importance of community and that faith piece.
00:50:17.460 --> 00:50:22.980
And Amy comes every um Monday to our Monday calls, and I just think that community piece is so important.
00:50:23.299 --> 00:50:24.739
Yeah, so good.
00:50:25.059 --> 00:50:30.659
Like, ladies, you're not meant to do life alone, you're not meant to struggle in your health alone.
00:50:30.819 --> 00:50:32.179
We are here for you.
00:50:32.420 --> 00:50:46.259
We have such a beautiful sisterhood, and I know people come to have me answer medical questions and give them my wisdom and experience, but Amy is so full of amazing knowledge and tidbits as well.
00:50:46.339 --> 00:50:50.579
And like we said, her analogies are fire, so they help you remember.
00:50:51.059 --> 00:50:55.460
Um, she's a great gift to the Fast of Faith Sisterhood.
00:50:55.699 --> 00:50:58.179
So we need to see you in there.
00:50:58.339 --> 00:50:59.779
Why aren't you on the calls?
00:50:59.859 --> 00:51:01.699
Like, why aren't you bringing your friends?
00:51:01.779 --> 00:51:03.219
That's my question.
00:51:03.940 --> 00:51:10.980
Invite a woman that you know needs community, she needs group healing.
00:51:11.379 --> 00:51:20.099
I promise you, we will pray over her, we will love on her, we will cheer her on, and she can shift and she can change.
00:51:20.259 --> 00:51:22.500
I know you know somebody who needs that.
00:51:22.579 --> 00:51:24.980
So get her in the sisterhood with us.
00:51:25.219 --> 00:51:25.699
All right.
00:51:25.940 --> 00:51:37.059
I'm gonna close us out for a scripture to meditate on this week because we need to praise God for all of his goodness, bringing us all together.
00:51:37.139 --> 00:51:43.139
Like Amy said, the way she's with us is a God nod, and we're so grateful to him.
00:51:43.539 --> 00:51:46.259
Um, we could go on all day singing his praises.
00:51:46.579 --> 00:52:06.420
But I want you to trust in the wisdom of your body, how God created it to function and learn how to nourish it, how to renew your mind and support these detox pathways, but most importantly, trust that God is faithful no matter what it looks like.
00:52:06.579 --> 00:52:10.900
And so we're gonna meditate on Jeremiah 30, 17 this week.
00:52:11.219 --> 00:52:16.659
But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.
00:52:16.980 --> 00:52:18.980
He's declared that for you.
00:52:19.379 --> 00:52:24.339
So trust this promise, step into it, believe it.
00:52:24.500 --> 00:52:26.420
That's literally what faith is.
00:52:26.579 --> 00:52:31.299
So think about that this week, but more importantly, talk to God about that.
00:52:31.619 --> 00:52:33.539
All right, ladies, we love you.
00:52:33.699 --> 00:52:34.739
We will see you next week.
00:52:34.900 --> 00:52:36.179
Have a good week.
00:52:41.379 --> 00:52:45.859
If you like that episode, I have one favor to ask, maybe two.
00:52:46.179 --> 00:52:50.019
Can you hit subscribe and give me a heart?
00:52:50.179 --> 00:52:57.779
I want Apple to know that this is important information to you because when we tell them that, you will get more of it.
00:52:57.940 --> 00:52:59.619
So use your voice.
00:52:59.779 --> 00:53:04.659
Hit subscribe, hit the like button, share with a friend.
00:53:04.900 --> 00:53:10.259
And the other thing, I want you to download the five day challenge and get started on it.
00:53:10.420 --> 00:53:11.940
Take imperfect action.
00:53:12.099 --> 00:53:14.339
I will see you in the Fast of Faith Sisterhood.
00:53:14.420 --> 00:53:15.460
Till next time.
