Hey Folks! I’m Victoria Aron a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addiction Counselor, and actively obtaining my sex addiction licensure. I own a private practice that specializes in addiction interventionist services, case management, and sober coaching.
Everyone likes to shoot the shit, but we live for it! We are two licensed therapists who don’t take life too seriously and always try to find the light within the darkness. In this fucked up era, Shit Talking Shrinks intertwines clinical expertise and humor to bring you something that is both psychoeducational and entertaining. This podcast breaks down mental health topics, the human experience, and society at large while leaving you with tangible tools to navigate life more effectively. There’s no limit to what we discuss and certainly no boundaries because we have none, yet we’re working on it!
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We launched Shit Talking Shrinks on Jan 10th 2023! We wanted to create a podcast that is different from the typical mental health pod. A lot of those podcasts are interesting and informative, yet they aren't very funny. We wanted to blend humor and mental health while leaving our listeners with tangible tools to navigate life more effectively. Our goal for STS is to help our listeners change their life in an impactful way while laughing through it.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release every Tuesday at 5 am EST and all of our episodes are between 15-30 minutes. We completely funded our podcast ourselves and dedicated numerous hours per week to produce it. We find the time because we feel so passionate about our mission.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We are sponsored by Joyous and we received sponsorship at the time with roughly 500 downloads per episode. We find sponsors by reaching out to companies that we believe in and support. We send them a warm email introducing ourselves and our mission/brand. Podcasting has benefited us greatly as it allows us to be authentic, real and US without any parameters. Our day jobs have a lot of rigidity, yet the podcast is so liberating!
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We have an editor in the UK and we found him on Fiverr. We find our guests from people in the therapeutic community as well as IG. We use Zencastr to interview our guests.
► How do you market your show?
We are on all the platforms and use all the socials to market our show! We find that being featured on other people's shows is the most supportive way to receive visibility.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Grind, Grind, Grind! It will pay off my friends.
