S4 | 2. When the single is better than the album

**One hit song and suddenly the whole album has to be a masterpiece?**

This week on Sync The Beat, we're asking: Are we expecting too much from artists after they deliver a smash hit?
And are we too quick to label an album a flop?

We're discussing what happens when a massive single sets expectations that the rest of the project struggles to live up to.
But is it always the music that's the problem, or are we judging artists against impossible standards?

In this episode, we're getting into:
Tyla — When the single becomes bigger than the album, is disappointment inevitable?
Dua Lipa — Was Radical Optimism unfairly dismissed? And has the renewed love for Training Season made people reconsider?
Ayra Starr — Hot Body made noise, but does chart performance really reflect the quality of an album?
Bruno Mars — Huge streaming numbers, sold-out stadiums with The Romantic.
Jorja Smith — New music, evolving expectations and the big question: did she deserve to headline All Points East?

We're also discussing whether streaming culture has changed the way we consume albums, why fans expect every song to be a hit, and whether we're giving artists enough time to let their music grow on us.

So what do you think? Can an album still be great without a smash hit, or does a huge single raise the bar for everything that follows? Let us know in the comments! 👇🏾
