Zacchaeus was a small man…and not just in size. He was small in the way he lived. He was a ruthless tax collector who made his living by using his power to extort money from others. He compensated for his size by working hard to make others feel small. Then he met Jesus. Zacchaeus discovered God had something MORE for him…something BIGGER. In the message this week, we’ll explore how God wants to transform our small thinking and small living into something that has purpose and meaning. God wants us to become people big enough to LIFT those around us, not stand on them.

A blind man hears a bunch of noise and discovers Jesus is passing by. He could’ve used the moment to get as much money as possible, but he didn’t. He could’ve let the overwhelming crowd or the discouraging people keep him from Jesus. But he didn’t. It was HIS moment…and he seized it for all it was worth. This message will look at seizing the moments when God is near to lean into the transformation he wants to work in our lives. We don’t want to miss it!

Jesus can transform ANYONE…but you have to know you NEED transformation! A sinful woman came to Jesus broken and repentant. She was so overwhelmed by His presence that she washed His feet with her tears and anointed them with perfume. Meanwhile, a Pharisee named Simon watched with critical eyes. He was JUST AS MUCH in need of grace…he just didn’t know it. This message will focus on the power of God’s grace to change us ALL…if we can just move from our hard heads to humble hearts!

Sometimes it takes an intervention. In our story this week, there were some friends who brought a man to Jesus. We don’t know who they were or how they were connected to the man. What we do know is that Jesus was impressed enough by their faith to respond. They were hoping for the man’s healing. But Jesus gave them something more: The man was made whole. He was healed AND forgiven. This message will look at how God uses us to bring about transformation in the lives of those around us.

Nicodemus was very religious. But like many religious people, he was still empty. For all of his rituals and practices, he still longed for something more. Then he met Jesus. He learned that you can be doing all the right THINGS but still not be right with God. He had to unlearn what he thought he knew to embrace the truth. It was like being Born Again. This message will look at the ways we need to shed our religion to be born anew in Jesus Christ.

In a world filled with people in bondage, this message is one of great hope. This story is about a man who was being held captive by his demons. Everyone had given up on him. Except One. And that One changed everything. This message will focus on how Christ can transform us by setting us free.

Transformation isn’t something that is forced upon us. It must be EMBRACED. And there’s always a cost. We can’t be DIFFERENT and have everything stay the same. The rich young ruler in our story wanted a PIECE of God, but not ALL of Him. He wanted to SAVED, but not CHANGED. He didn’t realize they go hand-in-hand.

This message will look at the balance between grace and works. God saves us by His grace. It is a free and unconditional gift. But with this new life God expects us to cherish His work of grace in us and allow it to produce good works through us! We can’t earn our way into Heaven, but we certainly need to live faithful and fruitful lives while we’re here on earth.

As we continue with Part II of Doubt That Produces Faith we discover 5 Ways Doubt Is Good For Us.
July 16, 2017 · 00:38:33
Faith is not the absence of doubt. Faith is actually strongest in those who have acknowledged their fears and their doubt and are fully leaning into God. We often feel like we can’t acknowledge our doubts, as though that is displeasing to God. So we are sometimes dishonest with ourselves, God, and others. But like the man who said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” we may find that our faith is the strongest when we are MOST honest with God. This message will look at how we embrace our doubts without letting them control us and how to find faith in our most difficult times.

There’s a tension that prompts us to action. There are also many things that lie outside our control. Learning how to assume responsibility for what’s OURS and releasing responsibility for what’s GOD’S is the balancing act here. This message will challenge those who want God to “do it all” to realize their role in partnering with His will. We will also challenge those who try to “worry things into existence” to “let go and let God.” Stress is good for us. Distress is not. Learning which is which is a powerful life lesson!

Being a “slave” to Christ sets us free! Sounds like a contradiction, doesn’t it? In this message, we’ll explore the idea that what we normally think means freedom in our lives actually makes us slaves. But when we bond ourselves to Christ, we walk in the freedom He provides.

There are some things that are clearly wrong according to God’s Word. There are other things that aren’t quite so clear. So how do we handle the pressure of a world that says, “EVERYTHING’S okay?” This message will look at our call to be holy without being harsh and judgmental. We’ll learn how to stand firm without being self-righteous and how to be gracious toward those we believe are doing wrong. Jesus was still a friend to those who were the vilest sinners without compromising His own values. We’ll learn how to balance that as well.

Men are expected to be strong, but are we strong enough to be GENTLE? This message looks at the constant tension between power and love. On this Father’s Day, we’ll challenge our men (and our women) to exercise power as Jesus did, being strong and forceful when the moment calls for it but being loving and tender as well.

We SAY that our relationship with our family and friends is one of the most important priorities we have. But is it? This message will serve as a reminder that love is one of the most precious gifts God has given us and it needs to be protected and preserved. We’ll remind ourselves that life is meant to be ENJOYED and not merely ENDURED. Learning how to actually CHERISH the journey may be the most important road lesson of all.

Don’t you just love the people who ignore the “no parking” signs? It’s almost as if they think they can park anywhere they want, anytime they want. We often let those kinds of people invade our lives until we can’t stand it anymore. In this message we look at how to set and respect healthy boundaries. We look at why boundaries are a biblical and necessary part of our relational lives. We also explore how boundaries can actually save our relationships as well as our own sanity!

There are times when we need to be able to walk away from a relationship: when the relationship has become toxic, harmful, or dangerously unhealthy; when we recognize there is a vast difference in values and ethics, or when there is abuse taking place. In this message, we explore the times when a relationship is going nowhere and how to end it properly.

Have you ever known people who just run over other people? It’s almost like they’re oblivious at times to the people around them. Sometimes, they are! This message, we focus on how we can learn to become more “people aware” and sensitive to those we’re in relationships with. We learn how to pick up on the signs we may be running over people without being aware of it and how to become more caring, relational drivers.
