A weekly sermon by Pastor Kevin Austin of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Rancho Cucamonga. Relevant, action-oriented teaching to increase your understanding and enhance your worship of, and relationship with, the one true God.
Sermon based on romans 3:20-26. Righteousness comes through faith. Faith is a gift. and it is by faith, through faith that God works to save His people. Not by works of the law, not by our own efforts to be religious. We can never put ourselves in a irght relationship with God, it is just not possible. This is the work of God. Faith clings to the promises and gifts of God. Faith clings to Jesus for Jesus aloneis the object of our faith.
Sermon based on Psalm 19:7-11 & 2 Timothy 3:10-17. We live in a world where truth is considered relative and up for grabs amogst popular opinion. The bible stands alone as God's Word and forms the foundation for all that we as a church believe, teach and confess. God's word is a treature as it is our Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier speaking to us. It defines that which is true.
Sermon based on 1 Corinthians 10:17-22. We discuss how in communion we are communing with both God and one another. In communion, God takes sinners and brings them together with other sinners and makes us one not only with Him but also with one another.
Sermon based on 1 Corinthians 10:14-16. One of the great debates in the church's histroy is what we actually receive in communion. We discuss that Christ is truly there and present and not just in a symbolic or metaphorical way but in a real active way.
Sermon based on Matthew 26:26-29. Communion is more than a snack to get you through a one-hour church service. Communion is God's gift to us. Communion is God giving us the forgiveness of sins. We are forgiven as we receive Christ's body and Christ's blood, in, with, and under the bread and wine. We receive God's gracious gift.
Sermon based on Exodus 14:21-29. We learn that nothing is impossible with God. This is a God who made the blind see, the lame walk, lepers clean, and raise peopel from the dead. WE are talking about the God of Easter. God is mighty to save. For God, nothing is impossible.
Sermon based on Exodus 12:1-13. Discusses how only the blood of Jesus can give us salvation. If it weren't for the saving blood of the lamb all of the firstborn in Israel would have been toast. If it weren't for the saving blood of the lamb of God (Jesus) we would all be toast. We are saved through the blood of Jesus.
Sermon based on Exodus 9:8-12. We walk through the story of Moses trying to bargain with Pharoah to let the people go. We see how powerful Pharoah thought that he was and how he was no match for how powerful our God is!
Sermon based on Exodus 7:1-13. We discuss the task that was before Moses when he was sent into Egypt. We learn how God was trying to show Moses that despite the outward circumstances, despite what it seemed like, God was still in control. God was still working His Plan. God alone has the power to accomplish His work. We are simply asked to follow in obedience to Him.
Sermon based on Philippians 4:4-13. As Paul is wrapping up his letter to the Philippians, he is giving the Philippians Christians his final instructions. At the heart of Paul's letter is the idea that because of Jesus, because of His death, because He lives, our lives are forever changed.
Sermon based on Philippians 3:12-4:1. Paul says that if we have breath to be asking the question "are we there yet" then we aren't there yet. We aren't perfect. So we live our lives now running the race that is set before us.
Sermon based on Philippians 3:-11. Paul's confidence was in Christ alone. Nothing compared to knowing Jesus. In our lives, we are nothing with out Christ. Chirst is our hope and confidence. All of our life flows from Jesus.
Sermon based on Philippians 2:12-18. In our life in Christ, the Holy Spirit is our engine. He makes us go. He is the one who gives us the will and desire to follow God. Without Him we wouldn't want to or be able to. He is the one who gives us the ability, the power to follow, to pray, to listen, to do what God calls us to do. Becaus eHe lives in me, I am able to follow God and live as HIs child.
Sermon based on Philippians 2:1-11. Paul teaches that being in a relationship with Christ should be a game changer. It should change our perspective, our behavior, our lives. Part of this life change comes in that we are no longer living just for ourselves but for the sake of others.
Sermon based on Philippians 1:18-30. Living or dying, we have life in Christ because He lives. We are called to live a "life worthy of the calling" that we have b een given as children of God. Because Jesus died, because He lives, we are free. Free to be children of God. Free to live as His people. Free to serve Him. Free to live our lives for the sake of others.
