Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  It’s an action packed show today with lots to cover.  Next week I’ll be in Tampa attending the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation Annual General Meeting. I’m looking forward to it and sharing the progress the EESF has been making.  I’ve been lucky to have had my turn helping guide the foundation along and look forward to supporting it in the future.  I return early Wednesday so there will be no show next week.   News/Article Links: Oracle Elevator completes four acquisitions Swiss Skier not so smart Required upgrades to single-speed elevators lifted Please don’t take dogs or cats on escalators! Feeling much better after having the flu and can honestly say I can’t remember the last time an illness kicked my butt like this.  It’s not a warm and fuzzy show today as I get caught up on two weeks of news to share.  I was surprised how good it felt to get up this morning at 2 am.   News/Article Links: Repair worker dies in elevator fall Woman dies in BART escalator fall in SF Russian’s Snubbed In Elevator Child, man injured in elevator accident Man gets leg stuck in escalator MESA Renewal Online Broken elevators cause agonizing lines EESF AGM Meeting Dates Set Teach our kids about creeps like this Century old elevator keeps visitors out Carnegie Building gets lift NAESA International Workshops Some worry about subway elevators and attacks Huge idiot at it again – What’s an elevator maintenance test? This New Year has started off tragically when an elevator mechanic was found dead on top of an elevator in Texas.  Details are still not complete yet and I will share them as they become available. As much as we talk about safety we need to press on and continue to promote it so that there are zero accidents and zero fatalities. The work that’s done in our industry is dangerous and not worth the pay grade many mechanics make if they don’t make it home to their family each night.  Do your part to press safety. Make it become the first thing you think about getting out of bed each morning.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.  It was great to see family and friends and by the time Tuesday rolled around it was nice to have an extra day off. It’s a very light show today. I almost didn’t produce it as my computer took about an hour to update this morning but it finally finished.  Also I was a little disheartened at the fact that the number one website link that pulled up in my news collector was that of a bloke sliding down the center of an escalator which should NEVER be done!  I wish that ad revenue and human kind in general didn’t feed the machine like this. Happy New Year, looking forward to the opportunities to make our industry a better one on in 2018! Last Show Of The Month – Prize Pack Giveaway – Thanks To The Following Sponsors: C.J. Happy Holidays to you and your family. As we finish up 2017 I wish you nothing less than a prosperous and safe 2018.  There are good articles on the show today which is being hosted by one of my favorite people, Santa Claus.  I’m doing my part to lighten the mood during what I consider one of the most stressful times of the year for many. Do your best to not let that stress follow you to work, I know that can seem impossible at times but keep in mind distractions can lead to serious accidents.  Do what you can to destress when you feel it building beyond what you can handle. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. For me it was really nice but busy.  By the time Monday rolled around I was pretty tired and look forward to this weekend for a little rest. I was hoping there wouldn’t be a whole lot to cover on today’s show but unfortunately there were more stories to cover that were important enough to share so here we are. ome of you listen each and every week, some simply visit the website to view the content online and others take a moment to send an email or tell me in person that they give me credit for doing what I do.  Today I give you all thanks for being part of my “elevator” family.  I can think of no other profession I’d rather be doing or industry I’d rather be part of.  I’m grateful for the wonderful friendships I’ve been lucky enough to have made over the years and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.  So thank you for being a part of this awesome ride. Safe travels to all who are heading away from home for Thanksgiving.  We all have so much to be thankful for that one day is not enough to remember this.

This week’s show proves that when stalled in an elevator its best not to take your frustration out on the elevator itself or you’re going to have a big bill to pay. Also an elevator technician in Canada shares the myths of movies and does a pretty good job. One week until my favorite holidays is fast approaching; almost time to give thanks for our friends, family and this industry.
