With the nearly $500 million acquisition of Lancope in October 2015, Cisco cemented its commitment to its Security Everywhere strategy. Through its StealthWatch system which uses next-gen technology to not only track network activity in real-time, but also to discover and report anomalous activities.
In Episode 8, part 1 of our Through the Firewall podcast, Greg Kushto, director of security and enterprise networking, shares what we’ve seen in the year that’s passed since the acquisition. Later, Greg delves into the business benefits for Cisco and how it could change the IT security landscape through products such as StealthWatch.
In part two Chris Crider, senior technical consultant, picks up where Greg leaves off by diving deep into the technical aspects of StealthWatch. Chris talks about how it can be used to monitor network data in a way that other iterations of network analytics are unable to do. He also discusses the problems it solves such as insider threats (think Edward Snowden) and bandwidth utilization issues.
