Josh and Richard are back this week, and in news that won’t surprise anyone, Plex has the biggest story of the week. They have brought some of their live TV capabilities to the Xbox One, and they’ve also redesigned a part of their user interface that has annoyed countless users. VLC has reached version 3.0, and it’s brought with it a bunch of new features. Spotify has a new partnership that has Josh really excited. Amazon Music is almost available as a Windows 10 app, and the new Xbox Wireless Adapter is finally available. The guys started off this week by responding to listener feedback about wi-fi access point solutions. They had some great suggestions for strengthening your home network without breaking the bank. The main feature centered around watching the Winter Olympics for cord cutters. There are a lot of options out there, but Josh and Richard waded through the possibilities have come up with a list of the best options. On the gaming side, there has been a lot of talk lately about Xbox having a major issue with exclusive games. Is it really an issue, and who is most impacted by it? The guys break it down before discussing a quick tip that fixes something that annoys Richard in three different ways! There’s also the usual game sale and a new month of free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. If you’re interested in Josh’s time with Sea of Thieves you’ll want to stick around for the final segment of the show. If it wasn’t already clear that Windows 10 Mobile is dead, there’s another solid argument for switching from our previously beloved platform. Josh and Richard start the show with some great feedback and questions from other listeners. Their answers should give you some insight into video conversion and home networking. The big news of the week is the huge change to Xbox Game Pass. Having access to AAA first-party games on release date could shake up the whole industry. There have been a couple updates for Groove Music. They help to show that even if the Groove music service is dead, the app is still alive. The Xbox One has also been getting frequent updates, so the guys cover what you can expect soon on the console. Richard has been on a few other podcasts recently, and Josh is hosting a Sea of Thieves live-stream Thursday night. Listen to the announcements section for all the details! The guys are back from Las Vegas, but Richard wasn’t able to join Josh for the recording of this episode. Unsurprisingly, the episode starts with some news out of Plex as the Xbox One client has been updated. There was also one CES announcement that the guys didn’t cover last week. NVIDIA is working to produce some crazy computer displays. They sound amazing, but who needs a 65″ computer monitor, and how much will they cost? A new Xbox Elite controller may be in the works. This week’s Deals with Gold looks like a Story Players shopping list. Cortana may be seeing a massive update on the Xbox just after Microsoft killed the Kinect. It’s the craziest time of the year again, that’s right, CES! Josh and Richard are on site in Las Vegas taking in all the latest consumer electronics announcements. The guys go over some of the crazier things they saw before jumping into the latest display technology including a laser projector, the latest OLEDs, and an HDR monitor. There were also two new product announcements out of SiliconDust. Channel Master also had two products that were of interest. The guys also got to check in with Axiim to see their latest wireless audio gear. Join us most weeks for the live recording of Entertainment 2.0 on Tuesday evenings at 8:30 pm ET! Welcome to 2018! You’d think that the week before CES, the largest consumer electronics show in the world, that technology news would be scarce. However, it isn’t! Kodi has come to the Xbox One. A trusted Blu-ray reviewer has found the Xbox One S to have some serious HDR issues. There’s a new standard intended to help consumers pick the perfect HDR computer monitor, and it comes at a great time as Netflix now supports HDR on Windows 10 PCs. The audio news of the week was depressing. Groove Music is no longer a streaming music service. iTunes was also promised to come to the Microsoft Store by the end of 2017, and that deadline was missed. Make sure you listen to the end, because Richard has a new podcast to announce! Join us most weeks for the live recording of Entertainment 2.0 on Tuesday evenings at 8:30pm ET! The show starts with a great question about a topic discussed frequently on the show, but one that many of us could use a refresher on from time to time. Then the guys dug into the news, start with a breaking story from Axiim. They’ve announced a wireless surround-sound speaker product that alleviates the need for a big complicated audio/video receiver. YouTube was finally updated on the Xbox One, but it’s being removed from other devices. Amazon Prime Video has also finally made its way to the Apple TV. Plex brings a much-needed feature to their DVR solution, and PlayOn is rolling out a cloud DVR. As if that weren’t enough news for one episode, a developer that many in this community already know, has mostly solved the problem around playing back your local music library over Amazon Alexa-powered speakers. The guys are back from a week off to celebrate Thanksgiving. This week starts off with two great questions from one listener. Plex frequently leads the news, but we weren’t expecting Plex commercial skipping. Vudu has brought HDR content to the Xbox One. Xbox Insiders are seeing much-needed filters in the store. Everyone received an optional Xbox update to make setting up a new console easier and more. With two weeks away, plus a holiday, the guys have plenty to discuss regarding things they’ve watched and done in their entertainment centers. The guys are back, and this time Josh has his Xbox One X. Unfortunately the show starts with some bad news related to the new game console from Microsoft. It’s having some HDR issues. It’s selling incredibly well though, even in markets where the Xbox doesn’t traditionally perform very well. SteamVR is now available for Windows Mixed Reality headset owners.
