My podcast is about wealth building, self-improvement, and mindset. I believe wealth is about abundance in all of your areas of life, it could be personal, business, emotional, etc.
My listeners right now consist of mainly young adults under 30 and they are about 70% male. I have listeners in every continent and the overwhelming majority are from the U.S.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
The idea for the podcast originated in August of 2021. My friend and I would always get into deep conversations about different life topics. One day he suggested that we start a podcast because the depth of our conversations would be valuable to hear. He ended up going back to college so he wasn't able to make time for the podcast. I then procrastinated for about 3 months because I couldn't think of a name and one day it suddenly hit me, Walk 2 Wealth. The name was the only thing holding me back so once I figured it out, I put my foot on the gas and dropped my trailer in December 2021, and my first 3 episodes in January 2022.
I listened to a lot of podcasts in 2021. They were super convenient since I can have my audio playing in the background or in my headphones. I could speed up the episodes and get an insane amount of value within a short amount of time. People who actively look for and listen to podcasts are some of the most supportive and loyal fanbases. These people normally have a growth mindset and seek continual self-development. Which are exactly the people I want to target.
My mission in life is to enlighten the unenlightened by helping people build wealth and think abundantly. My podcast started off as a passion project. The journey of wealth building is a long journey that can be accelerated or decelerated depending on whoever is pursuing it. I never thought of growing and expanding. I am not wealthy yet and ironically, I strongly believe that you shouldn't take advice from anyone who hasn't been to where you want to be or isn't currently there. Nowadays people wait until they're massively successful before they start giving back. And when they do start giving back it's usually via high ticket price methods like seminars, classes, coaching that most people can't afford. The information that I'm learning is extremely value and I wanted to have a platform to share it. My podcast is a way for me to share what I'm learning while I'm on my journey!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I've been releasing episodes weekly on Sunday. I am going to begin releasing two episodes a week beginning in September on Sunday and Wednesday until I get to 100 episodes then go back to only releasing one episode. It takes me about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to produce each episode.
I'm a real estate agent full time and also work 20+ hours a week at a restaurant. I find for the podcast by using Calendly to schedule all of my interviews and a pre-show call. I have a saying that I adopted from my peers, "If it's not on my calendar it doesn't exist." I set my schedule and created automated responses to handle inquiries and procedures.
I fund this podcast solely. I am investing about $70/month on software. I've invested close to $300 on equipment.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I currently don't take any sponsorships but I wouldn't be opposed to taking a sponsor if they were on brand and something that I genuinely found valuable. So far I've made $28 gross through Guestio. I never had any intention of leveraging the podcast for revenue. But now that I have some opportunities, I am going to reinvest the money into the podcast. I currently have never had a sponsor and I am currently getting around 250 downloads per month.
Podcasting brings me great joy. I am able to reach out to people I would've never had the opportunity to reach out to and learn from their experiences and stories. It's allowing me to network with successful individuals from across the continent. It's leading to me getting interviewed on other people's shows, books, speaking engagements, etc.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I am currently on three guest matching platforms, Guestio, PodMatch, and Matchmaker. The rest of my guests are people that I personally know or people that have emailed me to make a guest appearance. I am starting to pitch people to make an appearance but primarily people reach out to me.
I record my interviews on riverside FM and make 30-40 clips per interview (I don't use them all). I then download the wav files and use Garageband to edit my video. The clips are usually around 30 seconds long and currently use an atr 2100x w/ mic cover, headset, nexigo 660n, ring light, and a boom arm. I use the "Captions for talking videos" app to add captions to my clips.
I prepare for each episode by reading through the guests' bios and checking out their links As well as having a good preshow. I have each guest fill out a google form and I use that to guide the conversation.

► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
If you are an indie podcaster my tips are to make sure you outline your episodes. It is very difficult to talk off of the top of your head for a long duration. Make sure that you have a very clear message. Don't question if you're credible enough to speak on any particular topic.
People want to hear you speak! If you have a podcast where you interview people, get on guest matchmaking platforms early on. Guestio. matchmaker fm, and podmatch are three good ones! Once you start getting some traction invest in making a media kit. Don't get caught up in your vanity metrics.
My helpful resources consist of Buzzsprout, pat Flynn, pod sound school, and youtube university.
