A nostalgic look at our favorite classic TV shows through the years.

This podcast is a celebration of classic television. It was created by my sister and I. Not only do we focus on the well known, popular TV shows through the years, but we also pay homage to those that were short-lived, virtually unknown, and/or forgotten. Our listeners are rather diverse, varying from those in their mid to late 20s, to those in their 40s and 50s and older. We love the fact a lot of our audience is discovering these TV shows for the first time, or rediscovering them.
 

This podcast was created and developed by my sister and I. Growing up, we both watched an excessive amount of TV, from sitcoms to children's shows to soap operas. Those days, and that experience, has left an indelible mark upon both of us, so we decided what better way to relieve some of our happiest childhood memories than to share them with other people via a weekly podcast, while connecting with them at the same time. Our podcast was an idea that was years in the making. It was actually my sister's idea. She had been encouraging the idea of a podcast for quite some time. However, I admit I was nervous about the idea, and unsure which direction we should go in. She trusted my judgment, and left the ultimate, final decision up to me. After a lot of soul searching and prayer, it was decided we should go with something we were both very familiar with and passionate about. Television. Not just television, but our personal experiences with it, and extensive knowledge of a vast amount of TV shows which have been on the air over the years. A close friend sent me a link to a podcasting platform, but it took around six months to release our first episode. That was a little over two years ago. Now we currently have almost 200 episodes under our belt.
 

Our episodes are usually released on a weekly basis. Sometimes we are able to release two episodes within a week. It roughly takes a minimum of a week to get an episode produced, However, if the subject is more extensive, it will take a longer, as we want to bring the best content to our listeners. Detailed and thorough research is an absolute must. We both have day jobs, but we are so passionate about our podcast we always find the time for new topics for episodes, in addition to doing the necessary groundwork, getting it recorded, then released with an amazing level of ease, dedication, precision, and enjoyment. Fortunately, our platform is free, plus we record it directly from our phones, so the cost is very affordable.
 

Podcasting for us is a fun outlet, and a great way to connect with other fans of the TV shows we feature. We are definitely open to the possibility of it becoming a full time career, however for now we are simply enjoying it and having a lot of fun. We are aware of our numbers, including followers, ratings, reviews, and downloads, but that is not our primary focus, as too much attention on those things can be the equivalent of being on an emotional rollercoaster. It is a series of ups and downs, peaks and valleys. It constantly changes, and to be inundated with numbers can deplete your energy and sabotage your personal growth, and enjoyment. We currently have no sponsors, but are certainly open to the idea should it be presented to us.
 

Again, our process is simple and easy. We recorded straight from the cell phone. My sister does the bulk of the behind the scenes work, while I am the one who delivers the episode itself. We go the old school way, and write out notes by hand, which I have in front of me prior to the start of each episode. We often print out important details and information about our subject at hand as well. It is a team effort and a partnership that works very well for both of us. As of yet, we have done no interviews, however I could see that coming down the road. I would love to see my sister take the lead on that.

We would tell anyone who is already podcasting, or thinking about becoming a podcaster, to believe in themselves, their topic, and their content. Have confidence in yourself, and in the content you are bringing to your audience. Most of all, have fun with it. Enjoy what you're doing, and never lose that feeling. Be patient, and do not be swayed by the numbers. Never compare your podcast to anyone else's, nor look at anyone else's progress. Be an original, not a follower. Most of all, do not ever give up. Keep going. Produce new content on a schedule that works best for you, and remain unique and true to yourself, and to your podcast itself. Building a successful podcast takes time, work, and dedication, so don't place any timetables or pressure on yourself. Do not be discouraged. Lastly, be very selective who you share your dream and vision with. Even those who mean well might not be the most supportive or encouraging.
