► Tell us about you and your podcast
I’m a single host and I love true crime. I podcast about the darker side, which includes true crime, myths, urban legends, and mysteries from the Asian continent. Most podcast listeners are English speakers so I thought it’d be a great addition. I also use this platform to introduce Asia as I think a lot of people don’t know much about Asia.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started getting into true crime podcasts in 2016 and after attending CrimeCon 2017, I decided to start my own. There weren’t many Asian true crime podcasts at the time so I figured it would be a great addition to the genre. It’s been almost four years now and while I’ve had some ups and downs, it’s been a great journey.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I’m doing my best to put out one episode every two weeks, and even then I struggle sometimes because it’s a lot of research and I used to work full time. I have a Patreon account and a PayPal account for people who want to contribute and so far it’s been quite helpful.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
So far I’ve only been partnered with Sudio Sweden. I try not to add ads into my podcasts because I know a lot of people aren’t into that. Most of my funding comes from myself and from listeners who donate to me.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I spend a lot of time looking up websites and then I comb through them. I jot down ideas and notes, then put them in paragraph form, but not super serious. More friendly and something I would say. I use Audacity and a Yeti mic. That’s it. Nothing fancy.
► How do you market your show?
I personally use Instagram the most because I find that pictures grabs people’s attention the most. Most listeners find it through recommendations I think. I don’t like to heavily advertise because I’m too self conscious to do it.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I never knew managing social media would be this much work. It’s best to get a format set before going into it, so you can just reuse it for every episode/social media post so it’s less work when you actually have to post/record.
