► Tell us about you and your podcast
I am Jael Joseph and I produce and host Cacoa Tea with Jael Joseph. On the show, I interview entrepreneurs, artists and intellects on various aspects of their lives. I focus on how they came to be.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
After my radio career was put on hold after signing up for university, I wanted to remain relevant in the public domain and figured this would be the ideal medium. I started this show in 2017 as a video cast which is later edited down to a podcast. Once I got my website running, it took me a few weeks to release my first episode.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I do the live show on Saturdays and people tune in via Facebook live. It became popular quickly. I do all the marketing on my own and have used part of my scholarship for school to fund the podcast.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I have not taken on any cash sponsorship but I have done some free promo for friends who have businesses in an effort to help them with their business. I am doing a degree in journalism so this has definitely helped me with practicing what I learn in school.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Adobe Audition and Photoshop for editing the podcast. I do a call-out for guest and people respond. I send them a calendar to select their dates and they send me their bio and picture to prepare for the interview. I interview my guests using Belive via Facebook Live.
► How do you market your show?
Most of my listeners come from Facebook and I am trying to grow the podcast.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Don't stop believing in your dreams and do what makes you happy.
