► Tell us about you and your podcast
A Cuban - Persian Miami girl looking to learn all she can about Health, Happiness, and Beauty. Expert guests share actionable tips and insights. This podcast is about giving value, serving our audience to help make all our lives a little better. Our target listeners are busy women in all seasons of life.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
As a podcast obsessed women, Kat wanted to offer a podcast just for women that cuts out the noise and gets right to the point as quickly as possible. What can the audience get out of this to make their lives better today?! This questions is at the heart of every episode and always front of mind when choosing guests.
Dealing with female hormonal imbalances and limited resources led Kat to create this podcast with specific end guests in mind. Once the podcast was popular enough she was able to have them on and ask the questions so many in her community wanted to ask. Now she often takes listener questions right to expert guests and leans on her community for new ideas and topics.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
This podcast is a passion project. It's 99% funded by Kat. It's the time equivalent of a full time job, but Kat makes it work while her daughter is at school, nights, and weekends.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
The podcast isn't really about gaining money. Right now Kat is working on growing her audience. We do get sponsorships, but almost never seek them out. It's more about learning and networking. We spend whatever we make off revenue to grow the show.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
On the side Kat teaches new and upcoming female podcasters how to podcast. Everything from how to get great guests, to what equipment you need. Kat has done everything from day one, so she has amassed some tricks to do as little as possible. Work smarter, never harder. She uses tools like Zencastr, Descript, and Anchor.
► How do you market your show?
Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok have been the best places for finding listeners. The website is a huge help. Making sure it's SEO optimized and having detailed show notes on the website blog is also great for marketing.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
If you want to start a podcast, the best time was yesterday, the second best time is right now. You'll never beat on the job learning. Every problem means you have to search for a solution. You can totally do it without any help. As far as resources, I haven't found a book or podcast on starting a podcast that really helped. The best is trial and error or just know someone seasoned in the community to ask all the questions you have in real time.
But if you need a podcasting coach, Kat's always available.
