Please note, that while all of these stories are relatively light hearted, out intention is not to downplay or to ignore the seriousness of hurricanes. We are well aware of their destructive nature and devastative affects. Wesley at UCF sends mission teams out every year to help with ongoing hurricane relief efforts. He was naturally rebellious and very forward and thrived when he was put in prison. We will be wrestling with the doubts we face in light of what hear as we compare them to what actually happens. We'll learn how to ask better questions and we will self reflect as we wrestle with how far we'd walk before turning around and leaving. Until hope in God is all we have, we will have NOTHING. Sermon Series: More Than A Season Week: 3 Sermon: "More Than A Team" Speaker: Richie Hartig September 13th, 2016 A message on the importance of community and why we need to concentrate our efforts of getting back to the roots of the early church found in the book of Acts. Community is at the core of our faith and we need to embrace the vulnerability that comes with Christ centered community. We can either embrace growth, or comfort, but the disciples of the Christ and the builders of the early church chose growth and completely stripped away their masks. Which will you choose? Sermon Series: More Than A SeasonWeek 2: Representing Jesus, Representing the Church September 6th, 2016 It’s hard to represent UCF football when your team went 0-12 the previous season. No one would ever take a job in a school that is not in an upward swing but in a downward spiral of despair. It’s hard to represent an institution that is failing. And so it is with the church. Sometimes it’s hard to represent the church, represent Jesus in a world where Christians have been more hurtful than helpful. Tonight we are going to look at how we can live faithfully in a culture that no longer give us “home court advantage.” I believe God is using this season in the church to humble us. But we would rather win than have to do the hard work of being the underdog. But when you are the underdog you are trusting in God more.

Sermon Series: More Than A Season Week 1: "Forgetting the Past" August 30th, 2016 So the UCF team was 0-12 last season. And yes that sucks. Like big time. Like really bad. I mean it can’t get any worse. But!!! It’s a new season. It’s a new year, we have a new coach, we have actually upgraded facilities and administration. So things are looking better. But we need to put ourselves in the shoes of these players. Think about the pressure they have to at least win one game. And think about the pressure the coaches have. Paul may have experienced something similar. He was a murderer of Christians and now he had to minister to them. Guilt could have overtaken him but he persevered, kept moving forward and changed the world. We are going to be looking at how God gives us second chances everyday and how we don’t need to allow our past or our old habits define our future.

Sermon: Recognizing God Date: August 23rd, 2016 Time: 8:15pm Pastor Erwin Lopez shares more about his time in the hospital this summer. If you missed it, in June Erwin was hospitalized for appendicitis. He actually delivered one of his sermons that month from his hospital bed and we played it via video. Well about a month later, Erwin was reflecting on this summer and his time in the hospital and was inspired to continue the story with one more message on Recognizing God. Next week, we will start our first sermon series of Fall 2016 - "More Than a Season".
