Keith Capstick, writer, journalist, photographer, Jund player In this episode, I’m talking to journalist, writer, and Jund enthusiast, Keith Capstick. Keith is an editor at and also writes for Face to Face Games Toronto that runs Mana Keith and I share a love of the modern archetype Jund. Jund’s not doing so hot these days with that all stupid Tron and Death’s Shadow running around. Coming up soon is Pro Tour Rivals of Ixalan, which will be a Modern Pro Tour, so hopefully Reid Duke can help a homie out and win with Jund. Keith and I discuss the finer things about Jund, how it’s positioned, and why you should play Jund. We also discuss how Black Green White, also known as Junk, got it’s name. I spoke with Keith in the summer of 2017. I hope you enjoy my Jund-y interview with Keith Capstick. Go say hi to him on Twitter @KeithCapstick Keith’s article on Mana Deprived, the BGx Bible Keith’s “Just Jund Them” article on 401 Games. I tweeted at the Adrian Sullivan and Mike Flores to ask him about the origins of name “Junk” for Black Green White decks (aka Abzan, BORING!) I’ll be honest here, this podcast is a rant about the current standard meta, and what might happen to it in the future. I personally wasn’t affected by the standard bans, but like many of you I am sure fed up with what is happening in standard. So in this podcast I share my thoughts and ideas on what has been happening over the last year in standard. If you wanna hear my opinion, and share your thoughts on standard here please be my guest. I am open to hearing all opinions. Let’s start a discussion!

We were all set to take a week off, and then there were more Standard bannings. Yes, you read that right. We also have a special guest this week! Level 3 judge, mossy old man, and private citizen Bryan Prillaman is with us! You know him, he’s on JudgeCast. And we periodically pick on him on the show, but only because we love him. Of course we spent a good chunk of time on the banned list update. And if you’re trying to figure out why Rampaging Ferocidon was banned, just look at the title of this episode. There’s also a fairly long discussion about the newly announced policy of background checks, and what we know about it. Spoilers: we don’t actually know much, and that’s important.
