Prepare to get lost in Kyle's moping, Jeff watching ALL THE MOVIES, and Michael's affection for Charlie Hunnam... It's been a long time coming, and while The Lost City of Z didn't make Michael cry (see "Movie Bets" episode), we made sure to catch up on film and book so could discuss in depth. Toss in a group hug over Thor: Ragnarok, a sales pitch for Brigsby Bear (SO GREAT!), and serious confusion over A Ghost Story - it's CineMAGIC!!! This week's episode is sponsored by Sudio - Swedish designed headphones and earbuds, that are timeless and handcrafted. For 15% off your order, visit www.sudiosweden.com and use the code LITERATE15. Our thanks to Sudio for sponsoring! Character Cheat Sheet! Charlie Hunnam as Percy Fawcett Robert Pattinson as Henry Costin Sienna Miller as Nina Fawcett Tom Holland as Jack Fawcett Show Notes Brigsby Bear is wonderful and "a tribute to the wonders of being weird". Seriously, go watch it! Thor: Ragnarok was INDEED 80% improvised, according to Director Taika Waititi The take down that Kyle believes word for word, written for the The Spectator If you'd like to support Literate Cinephiles, support us on Patreon and subscribe to the feed on Apple Podcasts! Philip K Dick is a genius, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" is a classic, and we have TWO Blade Runner movies to discuss. Dispense with the formalities - let's do this! Show Notes Michael is not the only one super disappointed by "The Snowman" Denis on why he wants to tackle "Dune" and how that project contrasts with creating a sequel to Blade Runner.... Well, at least Hans Gruber was real, and there were explosions and stuff.... Anyway, check the pod for our takes on Book & Movie, plus some follow-up on The Good Place, Logan Lucky, and 10 Cloverfield Lane. Rather than continue discussing super happy, light hearted, and comedic novels/films, we decided to go in the complete opposite direction and embrace the sadness. Show Notes Lessons From the Screenplay: Game of Thrones - How to Evoke Emotion CineFix: 3 Brilliant Moments in Battle of the Bastards Collider has a great interview with Viggo Mortensen on The Road and his preparation. Rather than put another dumb joke about ALL THE TITLES here, we'll say, "the episode is great and it covers really kick @$$ material. You will not be disappointed." Also, trailer talk re: Ready Player One, Thor: Ragnarok, and someone finished reading a GIANT Brandon Sanderson book... Show Notes Yes, the movie has had multiple names mostly because the marketing was so poorly handled Doug Liman also has a pretty ridiculous story regarding the many names, which is worth reading Proof that the sequel will indeed be named Live Die Repeat and Repeat along w/ promises that the ending of Edge will make more sense?!?!
